1. You've made a great choice.... I love my GS, you'll love it.
2. Thanks for all the feedback. The position seems to be that no one is really sure whether there is a problem or not. So far I've been around the house when the chauffe-eau has been turned on and able to monitor the pressure gauge, taking steps to reduce the pressure as it has risen towards 8 bar. At this stage I'm not comfortable to leave the chauffe-eau turned on when I can't monitor the pressure eg. overnight. When we go back at the beginning of May I'll call our friendly plombier and see what he has to say. I just have this dread of the needle going through the Richter Scale and blowing every joint and fitting in its way.[blink]
3. Just to give a little more detail.... The positioning is as follows. The mains water pipe comes out of the concrete floor of the garage which has a stopcock fitted to it. Immediately above this stopcock there is the gauge I referred to. Incorporated (I think) is a rotary adjuster for the pressure. This is set at around 4 and roughly corresponds to the reading on the gauge when the chauffe-eau isn't turned on. The groupe de sécurité has always dripped a bit when the chauffe-eau has been turned on but in the past I have never noticed what the gauge was reading. The positioning of the chauffe-eau is just above the stopcock and gauge (about 1 metre above).
4. Can anyone please answer the following query. Our water pressure gauge (in the garage) shows a steady reading of around 4 (bar?). However, when the chauffe eau is turned on the gauge steadily rises towards 8. I haven't let it progress beyond this and have either turned the chauffe eau off or released the pressure by briefly turning on a tap. Whilst the pressure is rising the Groupe de Securité drips gently (as per normal). Is it correct (and safe) for the pressure to rise like this? I haven't noticed it doing it before but once I did I was a little concerned. Thanks in advance for any advice and guidance.
5. I've a real soft spot for Dads Army. Even after seeing so many of the episodes multiple times it still makes me smile and gives me a warm feeling. I've got the boxed set ( a Chrissie present a couple of years ago) which I dip into.
6. Sean Penn? What's he got to do with the price of fish? Diddly squat.
7. Have a look here for one explanation. I've had several of these calls (in the UK). The first time I shouted foul abuse at him. The second time was actually more satisfying....  he came out with the usual lines "We've had a report from your internet service provider of serious virus problems from your computer." I replied... computer? what computer? he replied... your computer I replied...What computer I kept this up for a bit then I got bored so I said.... Oh, you think I've got a computer? he said... haven't you got a computer? I said ....No, why do you think I've got a compuetr... now $£^&  *£@
8. Everyone wants him and thinks he is great now. A few years on??? another story I suspect.
9. When our French neighbour saw me starting to split some logs last year he came round and offered me the use of his splitter. It was a right beast, very heavy, which took some manouvering to get it from his house to ours.  It was a Woodline WL8 with and electric motor. I believe it generates a force of 8 tons. Absolutely brilliant and made easy work of the job.
10. I saw on the BBC News this morning that this story was on the front page of some of the tabloids.....  what a joke. I don't even see it as a news story  at all.  Cook steals from supermarket... big deal. As to passing comment on  his mental state??? I don't know the man, I've no idea, all I know is what is reported by the media and we know that much of that is just rubbish.
11.
Normally ignore the event but this year, for a change, they seem to have chosen some difficult terrain.
So  you reckon the terrain is usually easy peasy?

Why ?
I find this quite annoying....not just the weather, but pretty much any news story now. "Good evening, here is the news..... Some chap was murdered today in a small town. Here is Andy McWindswept, our correspondent, live from the scene...." "Good evening, I am standing outside an anonymous house with a policeman standing at the front door. I can confirm that some chap was murdered. I will fill time by repeating the same few facts several times while standing in the rain. I will then go to my expense-account hotel and the camera crew and myself will have a nice meal. Back to you in the studio....." [:@] The only time a reporter is needed on the scene is if there is an erupting volcano or some other visually interesting story.
I absolutely agree. This practice really winds me up.
13. I've got an Airhawk... pretty good and a big improvement on my standard beemer seat.  Pricey though.
14. Just finished listening to the carols from Kings College, Cambridge.  Superb (and moving) as always.
15. "The only trouble with that is that the permanent UK residents who organise or attend these events may feel a bit miffed " Then they should have the good manners to ask first. PS. what is up with this forum software? All screwed up yet again!
16. I believe a certain Neville Chamberlain tried appeasement in the past. Well, that worked out well.
17. More cretinous outpouring from such an untalented person.
18. I don't like them. If not a physical card I'd rather an email from a friend than a ecard. There's nothing personal at all about them.
19.
You two always brighten my day, its like having Statler and Waldorf on the forum
[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]
20. I quite enjoyed the first series but the second series went downhill IMO. The plots more and more improbable ... I can see it turning into a kind of "Upstairs Downstairs" with multiple series as long as the £££££s keep rolling in.
21. So there was no real significance about last Friday and they can continue to scrabble around for a solution and get round to doing something at some date in the future.  Meanwhile?????
22. What I'm still confused about is this.  We had been hearing that the eurozone had until last Friday to save the euro. All we seem to have heard about is Cameron's position and the subsequent possible result of that. But what was done to take immediate action to save the euro?
23. Clarkson....  a one trick pony with an act well past its sell by date... same old, same old.
24. I've been tempted to buy (in the UK) the wifi +3G model with keyboard. Part of the attraction would be to get the free 3G access when at the house in France to check gmail. I know the browser is clunky but it might suffice as we have no telephone and internet connection at the house. I think our chances of actually getting a 3G connection at the house is pretty unlikely but I understand if it can't get a 3G connection it tries the next best available.
