Gite Income

Like speeding bullet Nick. Thank you. [:)]
3. Having done a search without really finding the answer I wonder if someone can help.  We have friends who live in the UK but have a maison secondaire plus a small gite.  The gite is being rented out this year for the first time. The rent is paid in sterling into their UK bank account. Not wishing to fall foul of either French or UK tax authorities they are keen to know where this income should be declared.
4. 7 years this year - and getting itchy feet again.  Time for a new adventure I think!
5. Gaviscon - liquid or tablets. swear by it!!
6. We too have loads of fruit and have cut back each year. What we tend to do is to chop of the lower downward pointing branches to be left with a canopy at about head height.
7. Ours have been finished for a couple of weeks now.  This year, as previously, we used all we could and then put them outside in 2kilo bags for passers by.  Again very popular and we finally gave away about 140 kilos. Saves them rotting and going to waste and we also tend to receive the odd jar or two of other peoples confiture.
8.
however, the directive does not remove the requirement to provide a certificate of conformity with EU Whole Vehicle Type Approval.  That's why the vehicle manufacturers issue them to motorists wishing to import their vehicles here.
Although it is some years ago now we were not asked for a certificate of conformity. Instead (I presume) we were given at the sous prefecture a form, in English surprisingly, which contained a facsimile of the vin plate and asked to copy the details. This went into the system with the rest of the bumf and within a very short time we had our carte grise.
9. If you leave the pool unattended you are supposed to replace the cover. If we leave the immediate area we often leave it open  ,which is probably not legit, but if we leave the house it always goes back on.
10. My understanding is that for larger floor tiles you use the normal "combed" application on the floor plus a smooth coat on th back of the tile. You may find it explained on the adhesive sack.
11. There is some info in this link. Hope it is of use. http://vosdroits.service-public.fr/ link edited by a mod
12. Good luck with your liner fitting.  Because of the canicule in 2003 we were not allowed to fill our pool having finished the construction and had to wait until spring 2004 to fit the liner. It all went well in the end though and we thought that paying the extra for the Waterair technician to do the job was money well spent. He did it while I would still have been thinking about it.  While you are waiting to progress you might like to look at other peoples efforts. http://www.montage-piscine-waterair.fr/etapes/etapemontage.htm
13. In case you havent't already tried pages blanches shows two entries for "Lynch" in 79.
14.
Hi all... I guess it would be a fair assumption that filling the pool will be no problem this year?  [Www]  maybe the sunshine is waiting until we arrive... kind of like a welcoming party?  [:D]
If that is true could you please get here sooner rather than later.  We really would like some sun on a regular basis!
15. We have just done the same, advised by our supplier.  We took the labour charges away from the total and used the remaining figure.  Time will tell if we did it right!
16. Seems to be back up to speed this morning!! [:)]
17. Mine slowed down yesterday and has stayed significantly slower than other sites!  [:(]
18.
Hi Ron, thanks SO much for your reply.. we've definitely got  form 2041-K (blue print on white paper) The French tax office site does not list a form 2041K, unless it is the form for giving payment details which is No 2041.  Anyhow you only need a 2047k and 2042k.
"2041-K   -  Déclaration Préremplie des Revenus de 2006    - Notice".  It's the notes for filling in the form 2042K
19. I heard yesterday that the exchange rate for tax this year is €1.4892/£1. Can anyone confirm this?
20. We went for Filwat mainly for the convenience. I think if I did it again I would probably go for something moe substantial but I'm not sure what Waterair's other pumps and systems are like.  As regards building it isn't quite the doddle the salesman would have you believe but I had no major problems. An extra pair of hands is useful and as OH had broken ribs at the time I made occasional use of a neighbour!  You do have to factor in the cost of cement, sand, breeze blocks etc. My base is a sand cement screed (recommended in the instructions)laid by a local builder. You need concrete round the outside of the base of the frame for rigidity and for the margelles. Quite happy to Email/PM if you need any more details.
21. I have the filwat poolside pump and filtration kit and the only problem I have had was of my own making when I tried to use a pool cleaning robot for which the pump did not have enough suction.   Filtration and water cleanliness have been fine as has the present robot which functions via the inlet pressure side rather than the vacuum. The links below give some good and bad experiences with Waterair kits and also illustrate some examples of construction  http://www.ciao.fr/Waterair__Avis_809031 http://www.montage-piscine-waterair.fr/etapes/etapemontage.htm
22. Without a heater and yes we did buy the insulation kit. It consists of sheets of polystyrene stuck to the sides with double sided tape and is put in place just before the liner is fitted.
23. This could be a bit like the best bank/supermarket etc -  some good, some bad experiences.  For what its worth we bought one at the beginning of 2003 and built it without any major problems. Unfortunately because of the water restrictions we were unable to fill it until Spring 2004.  Since then we have had trouble free use and have just brought it back into use for this year - water temp is now 22 degrees. We bought the Olivia 475 - 9.4 x 4.75m and chose a level 1.2 m depth. Roman steps were an add on and unless you are a dab hand at it I would recommend paying the extra to have their guy fit the liner.  He did ours while I would still have been thinknig about it! All in cost of the kit then was €10777. We paid €500 to get the hole dug and I got our local builder to put down the base - about €300. The instructions are simple to follow in French but they also provided an English translation of the booklet. Hope that is of some help
24.
Hi there You don't need a UK address to register with CPAM.  You do need a French address.  You need to take with you when you go to the CPAM office:  E106, French utility bill (for address), Birth certificates, marriage certificates, RIB.  Take copies of EVERYTHING before you go.    I think that is all we took with us and all was sweetness and light!! Sorry - can't help with the social charges as I don't really understand them myself, but there are plenty of very knowledgeable people on this site. Good luck with your move Miszter
As you have taken early retirement you may be asked, as we were, to sign an attestation that you have no intention of working in France
25.
margaret, dave update everyone, i take that back, it is a blue carpenter bee, Xylocopa violacea, image at  http://www.alamy.com/stock_photography/10/4/WildPictures/A3C8N3.html
It certainly fits ours.
