1. This little chap has been waiting for 2 years and he is in your department: http://caniche.positifforum.com/t3104-athos-caniche-beige-de-6-ans-a-l-ada-de-st-chamond-42 EDIT Sorry I just saw that he would not be suitable with children. Have a look at the link anyway because there are lots of other poodle types on there.
2. It is not a question of him disputing the cadastrale numbers –. it’s just HIS interpretation of the plan and the size of the plot. There are no markers and the drainage channel does seem to be the limit of my plot. As pachapapa said, he cannot claim the land as his own after X amount of years which was my original question, so I don’t think there would be a problem if I came to sell my house or for any succession. As for selling the plot alone, I doubt if anyone would be interested in buying. The notaire costs etc. are just not worth it – I wanted to purchase a strip next to my house a few years back (66m2) and it would have cost about 1000 euros inc. all the fees. I think I may have given the impression to some on the forum that I am some lonely little English widow letting the French walk all over me. This is not the case at all. I have lived in France for a long time now, I work here and my husband was French. In most cases I am not afraid to give as good as I get but when it comes to neighbours I think you have to tread a little carefully. I don’t really want to become embroiled in a dispute which at the end of the day would probably cause more problems than it would solve and be potentially expensive. Life is too short. Anyway, thanks to all for taking an interest.
3. Thanks everyone for your input. Gardian I am inclined to agree with you - it's not worth all the hassle over such a small piece of land. I think it's the fact that I have let him walk all over me which is the main issue - note to self: MUST BE MORE ASSERTIVE! As for the cherries, he is welcome to them - the last time I tried some they had little maggots inside ugh!
4. The path effectively cuts all the gardens in half. There are no fences but there is a liitle drainage channel which seems to be the boundary between his land and mine. At the front of the land is a river and behind is the road which is at a higher level and is accessed by some stairs.
5.
perhaps put something on that land - old picnic table and chairs, or your washing line - just so you are seen to be using that land on a regular basis.
Chance would be a fine thing, he has taken over all the garden with his own table and chairs and washing line and now I've noticed he has even planted flowers. He seems to believe that my part is a strip 1 metre wide and 10 metres long under the cherry trees. Like I said, I don't want to be petty and fall out with neighbours but I think I'm more aggrieved that I've let him take advantage. As for the Maire, it's a long story but I don't think approaching him would make much difference. Anyway, on the bright side, it saves me the maintenance
6. Merlin you are just an angel and I have so much admiration for you - what more can I say?
7. Thank you pachapapa for your well informed reply. I can access the land as there is a little public path running through it effectively cutting it in two parts. These two parts are clearly numbered on the plan cadastrale. It would appear then that I don't really have anything to worry about for the moment!
8. I have a very small parcel of land (70m2) with two cherry trees about 50ms from my house. I have never really used it as I have a garden attached to the house. Last year I noticed that a lot of debris had been dumped there by a neighbour and when I tackled him about it, he insisted it was his land and that only a tiny portion belonged to me which is clearly not the case. He is a friendly enough chap but I do rather think he is taking advantage of the fact that I am now alone (my husband died last year). He does in fact own the adjoining piece of land which he uses to grow vegetables but he and his family use my land for sunbathing and barbeques. I am reluctant to tackle him any further as like I said, I don’t use the land and I don’t want to be petty, but I also don’t want to find that after a certain amount of time, the land does actually become his – squatters’ rights and all that. Does anybody know how I stand with that? Thanks
9. For all you curry lovers (like me), Packet Curry is back in business and it's cheaper than before. I've just put in an order. http://www.packetcurry.com/index.php
10. This is just so brilliant, 19 million hits on youtube in just 2 weeks. Check out the other videos as well by the same guy - sublime http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGeKSiCQkPw
11. Thanks Pickles for your reply. It is a genuine e mail (albeit a marketing one) from Michelin. The header and message properties show that it is only addressed to one person. Obviously a blip on the servers somewhere along the way. My God! I get enough of these emails trying to sell me stuff without getting them for other people!
12. Hi, this might sound a bit trivial but I am a little perplexed because yesterday I received an e mail from [email protected] which was not actually addressed to me. I am with SFR and the first name was the same as mine but the second part of the address was completely different eg. sandra.******@sfr.fr I was just wondering if anyone knows how this could happen.
13. Having read your previous posts regarding your daughter's dogs, I am a little confused about Shrek. You said in August that he was 'sorted' but yet in December you were still looking to rehome him. I hope he did not end up in the S.P.A.
14. Lisa, A couple of months ago you were looking for a new home for your daughters' two dogs. One, Shrek was re-homed and you were still looking for a solution for the other, Belle. Was your daughter able to finally keep her?
15. Forgive me if I am mistaken but if you have just had the boiler installed in 2010, you will not be able to claim the tax credit until next year.
16. A few years ago, one run in front of me as I was driving home in the evening. I was doing about 75kph and I hit the poor thing head on and it was killed instantly. It was an enormous beast and lots of people stopped to have a look. I think some of them were chasseurs and were quite envious that they had never caught one so big! The gendarmes eventually took it away supposedly to be donated to the local maison de retraite. Someone said I should have sold it - might have paid for the damage to the car. It turned out that, because the accident happened on a Tuesday which isn't a hunting day, I couldn't claim on the insurance of the local chasse. Since then I have encountered others running across the road - luckily I haven't hit one.
17. Happily he has found a new home and I have just taken him to his new family.
18. Can anyone please give a home to this little fella I found abandoned in the woods this morning whilst walking my dogs. Without going into too many details, he has definitely been abandoned and not just lost. I will never ever understand the callousness of someone leaving a poor little defenceless kitten to certainly die. B******! Anyway, he is the cutest little thing, I would say that he is very young, perhaps only six weeks. You can see from the (not very good) photos that he is ginger tabby and white and very fluffy. I can't keep him myself as I have four dogs, two of which are not very cat friendly. I am in l'Herault but I am willing to travel a little bit if someone is able to give him a loving home. Poor little thing hasn't had much of a good start to life has he? 19. That's one of my boys Tolo, he's a Galgo espagnol (spanish greyhound). He came from one of the wonderful associations who rescue these poor animals from the appalling treatment they receive in Spain. He is fantastic. Perhaps you too could adopt one and you could run together!
20. Winegum, if you are going to buy one then try ebay USA, they are much cheaper even taking into account the postage. I bought mine because one of my 'girls' likes a good scrap if we get 'accosted' on our walks. They do work.
21. Might be worth investing in one of these http://www.dazer.co.uk/
22. Just to say that you can watch online the programme about the french in London. http://documentaires.france5.fr/documentaires/londres-sixieme-ville-francaise
23. Take a look at this link http://rescue.forumactif.com/moins-d-une-semaine-pour-les-sauver-f72/urgent-pour-arok-gentil-caniche-5-6-ans-sera-tue-fin-semaine-toulon-var-t266620.htm?highlight=caniche There are also lots of other dogs on this site waiting for homes, you might just find what you are looking for.
