1. Thanks Bugbear, as you have probably realised this was a post to see if I could upload pictures!
2. This picture seemed to vanish when I posted
3. My BMW in the UK Jude and I bought these to take to France We have used them, now and then. But this is what I will buy next!
4. Dave be aware that you will have loads of fun on a 125, but bikes are addictive. It won't be very long before you are looking for a bigger bike. My wife did a direct access course in hte UK at the age of 50, she started with a single cylinder 500cc Honda, but within a couple of years was on a Honda Blackbird. We now have a BMW 1100S each, and use them as much as we can. Nice to see a dedicated area for us bikers here.
5. If it is just a phone you want then why not buy one secondhand or off the internet and put your sim card into it?
6. I think that the yellow headlights dissapeared so that France could fit in with the rest of Europe. They were no different to white headlights of the time, but gave out about 5% less light. Now all newer cars have Halogen or HID zenon lights which makes them brighter for the driver to see where he is going. I would not like to change my car or the motorbikes back from halogen to the dim yellow or white ones that we used to have years ago.
7. As you have a PCI-E slot then I would reccomend http://www.cdiscount.com/informatique/composants-informatique/xfx-geforce-7300le-64-mo-pci-e/f-107010638-PVT72PJAMG.html at 45 euros or if you want to go one better then 72 euros will buy you this http://www.cdiscount.com/informatique/composants-informatique/twintech-gf-7300-gt-256-mo-pcx/f-107010608-TWIN7300GT256PCX.html
8. On most modern games you can turn down the detail and graphics to obtain a smoother moving picture. I would suggest that the only way to get it to play better is to fit a game orientated graphics card such as an Nvidia 6600 or better with at least 256 mb of graphics Ram. I thing that the card that you have uses system memory and if you do not have at least 1 Gb of system Ram this can slow modern games down. New PCs are built down to a price and you need to know exactly what you want for a games machine.
9. I have a picture of my bikes GPS showing a maximum speed attained of 238 kmh, does that mean I am bad? Should I tell myself off?
10. Who said "however, if you can wait and know anyone who's coming over in the near future it is available in UK for considerably less than 149 Euros."? Well if you look at the site that I quoted above you can get it for €75 here in France, you don't need to change the plug then, and you save money over the UK price.
11. N60i 454€ here at www.cdiscount.com, so not much differnt to the UK.
12. I tried to make a Clause Suspensive on the sale of my UK house two years ago and the seller would have none of it. I raised the money and went for the house here by using my savings and a remortgage in hte UK. I was lucky and sold the house in the UK 3 months after completing here. It was a very fraught time but I have never looked back. My advice would be go for it, it is after all the rest of your life and providing you price the UK house correctly it will all work out in the end. Live life on the edge and things fall into place.
13. Second that Gary, try www.cdiscount.com for modem routers. The Netgear ones are easy to set up.
14. I understand that the TNT service is digital, but works on s different system to the UK. Best bet would be to buy a secondhand Sky digibox to bring, buy a dish here and source a TV from somewhere like www.cdiscount.com. Bob
15. As has been said many times here if your digital terestial aerial cannot see the UK transmitter from France then it won't work.
16. I think that 100€ per month is pretty cheap when compared to all the UK airports. I remember paying well over double that in most places.
17. I would tend to agree with Gary, but that is not what everyone wants. You will find that it should not take too long for you and your daughter to fit in with a French community, much longer if you want to live in a brit populated area. Perhaps I am not one to comment as I have no children, but I would bet that it will take less than a few months for your daughter to speak enough French to have some good French friends. The summer here is long, but the winter can be very cold, that is the reason why most houses have heating.
18. 45 minutes north east of Bergerac and yes it has been cold, -5 at night and for the past few days around zero. Today was a nice and sunny 8. The summer is nice and hot but the nights in the winter can be very cold. If you look at my blog you will even see the snow that we had here last Jan. But I would not ever think about moving back to the UK. Welcome to the area.
19. Great pictures, I have loads like that, some of them are on my blog.
20. I have done this before, but my memory is getting old now. I think that you need to save the slides under the option of slide show. There is also a way of saving to a CD and writing a small file to allow users who don't have Powerpoint to view the show. If I get time I'll look through the help screens and sort it out for you if you don't get a quick answer. I used to use it all the time in the RAF/MOD, but that was over 2 years ago now!
21. Looks like the same technology as a Harley to me!
22. SD, you have hit a nail on the head there. Jude and I have a BMW each. I bought my first new BMW bike at the age of 18 and still have one now at the age of 48. I have had many in between. Check out our blog and you will find an eamil address there. There are also a couple of links to BMW forums. If you want to chat then send an email and I'll reply with my skype contact, or give me your landline number and I'll contact you.
