  1. Wasn't there a chap who had a moustache like that bloke out of Sparks who said that he would make his country great and built new roads and boosted industry etc.....now how did that turn out?
  2. So with the furniture out it is unoccupiable by you and therefore no taxe d'habitation to be paid. As for the TV they fill in the form that they do not have any apparatus and get the money back.....or perhaps they do not want to tell a 'lie' :)
  3. The first thing he will do is jet over to Moscow to meet his mate Putin and to sign the contracts for Trump Towers Moscow, St Petersburg, Vlaidvostock .................
  4. Trump was obviously right, the election was rigged. Just putting my fingers down my throat as Pence makes a speech prising God and his wonderful family.

' that would leave a little problem as to what to do with Buckingham Palace. ' Can you imagine how much rich Americans would pay to spend a night in the Buckingham Palace Hotel? Philip could be the new Basil Fawlty and Brenda as Sybil.
  6. I was reading something the other day and it gave a different view. Has the main media reported fairly - I know that is a Trump moan. Perhaps, it is a case of a maverick sounding good to the normal career politicians. What amazed me was Trumps sustained attacks over Clintons emails yet nothing was really made over his alleged sexual assaults. Time will tell.

  8. La Poste website quotes 16.50 euros via Colisimo for 1200g (you will need packing).
  9. I watched a news item regarding the changes to benefits in the UK and they interviewed a woman who has 4 children moaning that she will have to go out to work due to the drop in the benefit stating that really she needs to be at home to look after the children - no mention was made of the father / fathers. There is also a programme on about High Court enforcement officers. They sometimes evict a woman and her child / children due to unpaid rent. They sometimes call the father to help, obviously, the fathers no longer live with the women but often the father is nowhere to be seen. How much are the fathers contributing to the support of their children?

Thanks, I now know why everywhere is selling chrysanths. As for kids knocking on the door, perhaps giving them ex-lax would prevent them visiting the following year
  11. Chancer, when I said to the person 'if it is too cheap to be good then it probably isn't' his reply was that it was not so cheap that alarm bells should have sounded.
  12. https://www.angloinfo.com/midi-pyrenees-south/discussions/topic/2975295 The author of this with hindsight can now see warning signs but the con artist was very convincing. And whay did Mr Con Man not wanting PayPal to be used - because it would have held the money or grabbed it back.

Three types of listing on eBay: Auction - set over a number of days and highest bidder at the end wins the auction Buy It Now (BIN) - if you want it you click the Buy Iy Now button, pay and it is yours Classified - normally cars etc- you deal directly by contacting the seller. If, it is an Auction and it is a 7 day listing, say the person places the listing on 30/10/2016 at 10:30 then it will finish in 7 days time at 10:30 on 06/11/2016. Most sellers specify PayPal unless it is 'collection only', i.e. you go and get it. Using PayPal gives some financial safeguards. Yes, you will need a PayPal account. Do you give your card details to other suppliers to buy items? Using PayPal means that the seller receives no details about your card, just the money. Plus there are safeguards if items do not match descriptions - traders seem to moan that PayPal is too much on the buyers side. Snipers - what are they? They are people like me who bid at the last moment. It means that other bidders do not try to outdo your bids so possibly means things sell for less. Best of luck
  14. That great lump Clarkson, in Amazons UK adverts says that they have sent Fire Sticks to Europe.
  15. Surely, tactics will figure largely in the Brexit negotiations. Is it a case of May saying she wants a hard Brexit intended to say to the other EU countries 'Britain will look to other countries to trade with, we do not want your goods'. So now the other countries are on the back foot. Renault, Citroen, BMW, VW group to name just one section of industry would have to find another market for their vehicles. So pressure on the other EU countries to keep an open market?
  16. The problem I have with the referendum, and this is irrespective of the outcome, is the damn lies put forward by both sides. If it had been two companies promoting their services they would have been stopped using the 'facts' put forward. Did see an interview with 'a man in the street' who said 'I did not vote for price increases'. A result not based on genuine insights as to what each side thought.
  17. Must be more money in it for him if the UK stays in the EU

Last trip (back one week) our local little company charged 58 Cents per litre, plus naturally, the dreaded TVA.....livraison inclusive. .69368 centimes/Litre. Date 08-10-16' Whilst the 74.6 per litre included TVA the purpose of my posting was to highlight that boasts by Internet agents who like to claim how you will save money by using them are not always the cheapest hence, using them can mean you pay more.
  19. A couple of years ago I obtained a quote for oil from an Internet company, wnet with my local supplier as they were cheaper. Since then I have been bombarded with emails about their wonderful offers. Just filled up now. The Internet company price for less than 1,000 litres 0.809 euros per litre with delivery in five days sooner and a higher price. Local company 0.746 euros per litre and delivered next day. Just about to unsubscribe from the Internet company.
  20. When buying in France did the Notaire carry out a procedure before the Acte? This would be to change the marriage regime to something more advantageous to you.
  21. Many thanks for the replies - unfortunately, we cannot use a dipstick as the ceiling is too low. Thanks for the weblink. Also found on there: https://www.fueltankshop.co.uk/float-type-clock-contents-gauge/p4915 which will suit our purposes and a 'little' cheaper.
  22. Our house has a 1500 litre oil tank - great BUT thematerial it is made from is thick and in a dark space you cannot see through it. As there is no level gauge it is a case of climbing up, removing the filler cap, peering in and with some light getting through having my able assistant run a finger up and down until it is at the oil level. Now, I can judge how much oil there is. Did think of two folw meters, one in the flow and one in the return and take the return from the flow to arrive at the oil used and then subtract from 1500 when the tank was filled. Did think that if there was a dial gauge with a string and float attached to the cap a quantity could be arrived at. Is there a solution?
  23. Ah cajal, how timely, chuckled at the Jehovah;s Witness Training Centre joke on Monday and then yesterday, Tuesday, who should come calling.
  24. Always amuses me, some of the countries with large debts giving money to those with small debts. Perhaps Gluey you could explain why that is sensible. Most financial advice I have read is that if you have the money pay off your debts.
