  1. You could buy a taxfree Renault,VW Group, Mini, BMW, Honda or Fiat LHD in the UK thru their taxfree offices. Import it and then pay 19.6% at the Tax D'Impot office. Paying UK prices - I have and will continue to buy this way, expecting a Mini Clubman D for SWMBO this September.
  2. I have used one in Italy. You need to ensure that you have a strong 3G mobile signal - just a mobile lock won't do. I now wait to be corrected.
  3. No problems in Italy - with Yahoo. Just traffic, italian drivers, crime, organised crime, rubbish ..... I love it; live for the moment!!
  4. Hi Folks, We would be grateful for anybodies experience of this. Altitude Wi-Max supply our internet connection - excellent with 2mb download and 1 mb upload.  I have bought a SlingBox Solo, SlingBox Turbo's x 2 and set it up to stream media in the house thru the mains power.  No problems however I have tried to control the media stream remotely from Italy to view there - one of the great selling points of Sling Media!!  Unfortunately there appears to be some difficulty in accessing the Altitude modem supplied (1 x ethernet and 1 x phone connection). Our setup is as follows: Wi-Max aerial to white box then to Altitude modem (?) made by Alvarion Model ACPS101G (1 x ethernet plus 1 x telephone) this is then connected to a DLink 10/100 unmanaged (powered) fast ethernet switch Model DES-1005D.  We then connect our Skype Dual Phone and Computer to this (no probs and works fine). Sling Media, incredibly helpful bunch, have tried their very best but we need to ask the following ques'. This what we intend to send by e-mail to Altitude Support staff who will hopefully be as helpful as Sling Media's team.  Grateful if somebody has already done this then please info us or can somebody turn the following into techie french or confirm whether Altitude support team have an english speaker !! Quote  1. Exactly WHAT is the modem/router and what are its capabilities, is it the white box or the Alvarion Model ACPS101G.       a. Is it a modem? is it a router-modem? Is it simply a device specific to receiving wireless access from the provider (What is the white box? What is the box with the ethernet and  telephone connection)?     b. Is it possible to log into the interface?  Is http://192.168.1.1/ correct for doing this and can it be achieved remotely by Sling Media?     c. What is the procedure for doing that?     d. Is interface login possible ONLY through the provider? 2.  Is there another router / modem-router / residential gateway device that can be used to get service from the ISP? Unquote Thank you - if people are interested then I will post the result, hopefully positive, on conclusion. Vernon
  5. Hi Folks, You think that driving in France is erratic ... I have survived in Naples for 10 months - you just have to laugh.  If anybody wants an unused indicator bulb for any vehicle then go to a Neopolitan scrapyard!! Creating 4 lanes from 2 is the norm and honking at the lights, girls, mates or life..........
  6. In Naples that would be considerate parking.  They do say Africa starts south of Rome!!
  7. I have nothing to do with these folk but ... it might be worth enquiring since they offer LHD Citroens.  No guarantees but worth a shot? Quote "" I have had a look for you, we can supply Honda, VW, Citroen and Renault in LHD, these will be to UK specification only. Unfortunately we can not supply any EU specification cars. Also with LHD’s, they are made to order and can take between 3-6months to be ready for collection.   Many Thanks Claire Firth Forces Cars Direct Main Office Tel: 0044 (0) 1522 814010 Free Phone (from Germany): 0800 1800 119 Fax: 0044 (0) 1522 814011 Web Site: www.forcescarsdirect.com'' endquote

  9. That will be me.  I only use 3 forums _ one looks to be lanquishing at present.  Resting after trip from Augusta, Sicily back to Naples across the mountains on my Beemer bike - rubbish roadworks but stunning views..
  10. I would service it myself but it will be brand new on arrival.  2 ltr Ford engine with mohair hood plus bits and bobs.  Will need to be serviced for first 2 yrs or so before I roll up my sleeves!
  11. I guess that there are no Morgan owners in our area?  Still allows the humourists out.
  12. I quite like the googles and hat as well!  Still, as clean shaven individual, I will have to think about the beard.  Interesting article with some comments from Morgan owners - whatever floats your boat.
  13. Hi, Is there a Morgan Servicing Agent closer to Chef-Boutonne area (79) than Paris?  Grateful for info since I will be importing +4. Thanks Vern
  14. Anybody recently received an endowment from an amicable scottish company that had been taken over by a financial company from the Fens - hopefully masked sufficiently.  If so How did it fair against the recent bout of green letters?
  15. I think most folk are nervous about pouring relatively large sums of money into a diminishing investment - unlike the UK Gov.

  21. There you go - a Saint has explained it ... again.  I personally know of a couple that bought, imported and paid twice!!
  22. I have discussed this before - 6 months old and 6000km.  Have a look and save yourself a fortune. OK I have relented - buy a car in the UK, pay VAT in the UK, bring the car over and register - then pay another 19.6%.  Do the search and get your timing right otherwise you are paying twice.
  23. It is on your carte grise.  Assumption : 1.  You live in France 2.  You have registered your car.
