  3. I have been asked by a potential customer who whats us to look after his dog. He wants the dog to eventually end up in the uk but cant take him direct due to the EU passport. We have delt with dogs coming to us within an EU country many times but not a non EU country. As for the dogs needing to be rehomed from the Mornac shelter I too would urge anyone thinking of having a dog to please go and look.  We have many dogs come and stay with us that have come from animal rescue shelters and they have all been great loving dogs. Regads Nina
  4. Hi Senario Dog is going to be exported from China to France befor entering the Uk. In China it is given the rabies jab and been tested, it is 3 months after having the rabies jab that it can leave China for France. Question ; Does the dog have to wait 3 months or 6 months to enter the uk as the rabies jab was done 3 months previously. Can the Eu passport be back dated to the date teh rabies jab was given in China? Its a bit complicated but if anyone can give me an answer or point me in the right direction of a website I would be very gratefull Regards Nina

Placements can be from 1 week to several months. We are near Angouleme in the Charente region. Angouleme is city with alot to offer students. If I can be of help to you please email me direct by PM or email (contact details edited by a moderator) I look forward to hearing from you Regards Nina

  15. I find Cilit Bang (the purple and orange one) excellent for anything with calcaire. Do be carefull what you use it on though as it does bring the surface off of some things like marble. Regerds Nina
  16. Hi We had a fire in our chimney earlier in the year. It was due to the oak beam that was the mantle piece catching alight at the back, this set the chimney alight. We have 5 pompiers here to put it out. The insurance company paid for a new beam, new wood burner new flu and never questioned about the chimney being swept, although it had. We were very lucky as it was 10 in the evening and we were not far off going to bed when my daughter noticed the fire. Regards and Happy Christmas Nina

  23. Hi Donald We have been here for 3 years now. The original plan was to come over and buy a property with barns to turn into gites. Well that changed, during the first year we rented a property and settled the children at school, they were then 6, 11 and 12. For us this was a good decision, we aere lucky and the 2 schools we had chosen ( primary and college) were good ones, if we had bought a property in the wrong area with a bad school it would have been difficult to change. After a year we started to look for somewhere to buy, quickly finding a house through friends from school. We decided not to do the gite thing but to look after english peoples dogs when they went on holiday or back to the uk. 3 years later this is a very succesfull business. All 3 children are now very well intergrated and fluent in french, my oldest daughter has met an english boy - 17 he has come to live with us and gone back to school here lycée so he can learn the language, he has made a slow start but is making progress, its no where near as easy for him as it was for the others, though my eldest at the time of arriving was 12. To sum up , none of our plans were as we expected but we are all extremley happy and earning a living here, though not what we expected to do. It does take a long time though. Many people will say i am wrong for saying this but here goes "go for it" but make it work. Europaschool.fr - my husband and daughters boyfriend go here for french lessons. they teach many languages, i know the school in Angouleme (charente region) is looking for english teachers. Regards Nina
