1. Hi just worth saying that St Remy is the head office, so they stock all the available products. The shops carry more products than the mail order list, which is here : http://www.bestofbritish.fr/post.htm Peter

3. Hi There is some information here : http://www.the-languedoc-page.com/articles/languedoc-articles41.htm I've lived in two timber framed houses - one faced with brick, one faced with timber. Both were no problem and had very good insulation. Just worth saying that virtually all houses in Scandinavia are timber framed and clad  :   Peter

VMC

Hi Where the pipe joins the VMC, the inlet was shaped like a circle with a large half moon cut out. Between this and the pipe was a similarly shaped spacer which adjusts the airflow by being rotated in its mounting. Hard to describe, but simple when you see it ! Peter

Hi I guess you have checked the pipe connections ? Mine had asymetric blanking pieces allowing an adjustment to the air flow for different pipes. And my instructions did say avoid U bends in the piping. Bonne chance Peter
7. Hi I had the same problem. So, I made them up using odd numbers. No queries ! Peter
8. Hmm We've had a couple of weeks of changeable weather with some rain. Now back to blue skies with clear chilly nights. Last night was the coldest so far and went down to 3C, afternoons around 17C. I've got lots of weather links here : http://www.the-languedoc-page.com/expat/expat-foyer-weather.htm Peter
9.
There are not many people who want to go to Quillan by choice
Hmm ............. you may live to regret that statement !   Peter
10. Hi I've used both Front Page 2003 & Dreamweaver MX2004. Front Page is easier, Dreamweaver is harder to start with, but can do more. Neither are 100% WYSIWYG : both need a little code tweaking from time to time. On balance, I think it is better to create your own site, rather than relying on others. If you use a web creation company you should check that you will receive : The source codeDomain name registered to youPasswords etc. for the hosting accountI've had requests for advice where these have been retained by the web creation company. Of course, quotes for any updates are then very expensive ! Many of the rapid DIY solutions fall down in flexibility. You need to ensure the site can be updated quickly including content, meta tags, titles etc. Just to add, that possibly more important than the actual web creation,  is effective site marketing. By this, I mean inclusion in directories, establishing relevant links, and developing content / keywords that will be recognised by search engine robots. A website with no links and appearing on page 100 of google for your chosen keywords will not help much ? And much of this work needs to be planned before starting the web creation. Peter
11. Hi Caper plants ( Capparis spinosa and Capparis ovata ) grow in many Mediterranean areas, but are rather tender. The capers you buy in jars are not the seeds, but pickled unopened buds. Capers are preserved either in vinegar or under layers of salt in a jar. Raw capers are bland flavored and need to be cured to develop their piquant flavor.  Bonne chance Peter
12.
Hi,can anyone tell me about any good take aways preferably fish and chips or curry? as i am missing them both alot.i live at Amailloux can anyone help?
Hi I know where you can get everything you crave. Dover ! Peter
13.
I would ask for advice from the immobilier through whom you bought your house as for pricing. Also I would advise you to use a Notaire to keep the paperwork straight.Still even if the idea is buy to s...
In general, you are correct, but : That is exactly how they hope to acquire the land ? Unless a new POS changes it to building land, they don't mind a farmer having long term tenure ? Peter
14. Hi just to say that McDo use a 100% natural process : so no need to,worry there then ? Peter
15. Hi as a general rule : Dec 24 and 26 are normal working days. i.e. No boxing day And boulangeries, etc may be open on 25 Dec Peter
16. Hi notaires are strange animals ? They are half civil servants (tax collectors) , half conveyancing solicitors, half estate agents (not all) and half general legal advisors (often free). Certain charges are prescribed by law : e.g. property purchase, drawing up leases, etc. But much of the other stuff varies by notaire and area. My local notaire says that they give free legal advice and only start charging when they have to produce a contract. Peter
17. Hi Read the information on the APCE site ( http://www.apce.com/index.php?type_page=IL&pays=1&rubrique_id=300000111  . It is the French business creation site in English and gives details of legal form, set up requirements, taxation, social costs, etc. The question of grants is varied. I found that in my region I needed to employ people to get a grant. This changes by area. I think there is a tax holiday for people on RMI starting a business. APCE has a database of available grants, in French here : http://www.apce.com/index.php?rubrique_id=14&type_page=I Bonne chance Peter
18.
Ron, To save Paolo posting and where it might not come across right.Paolo is a serious chap. 19. Hi it sounds as if the garage has somehow left the new equipment permanently turned on, thus flattening the battery. This year, a colleague changed a 12 year old battery on his Volvo. It had been holding its charge over winter and restarting in spring until this year (the car is left outdoors over winter). Peter
20. Hi   Caisse d'Epargne accepted FF100 from my pocket ! And they didn't charge for overseas transfers inward, which was important for us and saved FF3000. It is a while ago, so things could have changed. Peter
21. Hi I guess this could be your starting point of contact : Service Relations Clientèles Hyundai au 01 34 30 60 60   Bonne chance   Peter
22. The importer is :   Automobiles Hyundai France 1, Avenue du Fief ZA Les Béthunes Saint Ouen l'Aumône BP 479 95005 CERGY PONTOISE CEDEX   Peter
23. Hi It is worth searching the forum history about this. I've previously posted several replies. Try searching on "Washy" and "US car" "COC" "certificate of conformity" "carte grise" etc US/Japanese/EU/Australian spec are very different. Contact the manufacturers importer in France to see if they will issue a certificate of conformity. If they say no, I'd give up ! I've got some notes about the procedure here : http://www.the-languedoc-page.com/expat/expat-foyer-legislation.htm Peter
24. Hi It is worth looking at this site http://www.mercury.org.uk/page3.htm . It is a site devoted to online security with links to many free downloads. Peter
25. Something that interested me : In the IKEA pub. blurb yesterday, they had a Xmas tree ad. Buy the Xmas tree for Euro 18, take it back after Xmas for a refund of Euro 17. The Euro 1 difference is donated to wetland resources, and the 2nd hand Xmas trees are ground down for compost.  I don't know the source of these trees. If it is Sweden there is a good chance they come from sustainable forestry resources. Peter
