  1. Hi Barry I have this piece of steak ................   and I just need someone to cook it ............................................     and guarantee it will be tender and succulent.   Mmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. Monika YOU do not have a problem.............THEY have the problem.........Tell them to BUGGER OFF!!!!!!!!!!   SAD PEOPLE.............
  3. Hi All My original post was a little Tongue in Cheek in other words I was being facetious !!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Hi All Why so much bitching????????????????????? No one MAKES you use any of the X channel companies, and they ALL work for somebody, otherwise they would go bust. Thankfully some people are of the same opinion and have voiced their view, I do not think it fair to cut them down. I have used SF. and the coffee is crap, so what, I bought my ticket because it was cheap not because I wanted a good cup of coffee, again like some have said "You pays your money, your takes your choice" , they serve wonderful Coffee on LEAR JETS any of the moaners can charter one, maybe not as cheap as the ferries but they do serve nice Coffee and the staff are nice too, anyone want the number? oops gone very quiet out there !!!!!!!!!!! SF. have made some of the other operator's rethink, and why not, good luck to them, me I just use what is convenient / cheap, so sometimes it will be SF. other times it will not, so why not use this forum to HELP one another, rather than attacking. I have just book with LD. first 2 weeks of April standard seat £78.50 Return, not as cheap as SF. but as I am going to Poitier suits me. So lets have a few more SMILES   Love to everyone
  5. Hi NGH1 Lets turn down the HEAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you need to see Channel 4 / 5 you will need a sly box (IMO correct spelling) If you can do without 4 / 5 any digital box will get BBC / ITV Channels, some boxes are better than others. Use a 80cm dish and motorise it with a decent motor, (remember it is out in all weathers and a cheapo one will not last) about £70, will get you over 5000 channels ........ yes 5000 is correct, in a multitude of languages.   I've posted this info many times.   Bonne Chance & Happy Viewing
  6. Hi sc Just a couple of points, you do not have freeview, you have a Free  To Air (FTA) satellite system, and as Ron points out you will need an SLY box for interactive screens, the box you have is NOT French but international, your box is sold all over the world in much the same way as your mobile phone is! Is your dish a fixed dish ? Did you know that if your dish is motorised you will get hundreds of channels including the French ones !!! Bonne Chance
  7. Hi Dog Try this ............... 400g dried beans soaked over night 1 Onion chopped 1 Bay leaf Salt & Pepper to taste 1 Green chilli chopped fine 1 Bouquet garnie (parsley & thyme) Put ALL ingredients into pot add water to cover, bring to boil partially cover and  simmer until beans are cooked about 1 hour. You now have Mexican Beans ......................... Put oil or fat or Bacon fat into pan add a chopped onion and cook for 5 mins add garlic to taste and a chopped chilli and cook for 10 mins on a low heat then add your Mexican Beans mash them down, a little more oil / fat add some ground cumin and oregano and mash again and keep stirring, taste and adjust seasonings and fat as necessary, when they are hot and sizzling and have become crispy underneath tip them out onto a large plate  ........... mmmmmmmmmmmm ........yummy ............Mexican Refried Beans.   Bonne Chance
  8. Hi All I have not used the French coiled copper pipe so I am takeing a chance here, I think it's refrigeration quality pipe, so it will have a thicker wall, will be soft and is easy to bend, just make sure you are using the right size bending tool, I say this because some of the cheaper tools are way off size.........   Bonne Chance
  9. Hi Powerdesal The indoor wall mounted units are approx 1 meter x 260mm depending on make and output. Prices will depend on size of unit / units, length of run (from indoor unit to outdoor unit)..... as an approx  figure I would say € 1200 + tva,  Fully installed and commissioned for a single unit. I have seen some horrendous prices, also buy this unit for ONLY €1600 and we will install for FREE Today's split units are very quiet,  window units in the trade are called "window rattlers" and they do especially if they are installed badly. Hope this helps, if you need any more info just ask or PM me   Bonne Chance
  10. Hi Paul Still NO news on this amazing box .................... what's happening Blade ..........
  11. Hi Wendy You could fit an air to air heat-pump, heating and cooling from one unit, no need for gas tank or flue running costs on heating mode for every euro of electricity you get on average 4 / 5 euros of heat. Want more info just ask or PM me Bonne Chance
  12. Hello Paul We must stop meeting like this ..... the air to air system is great in a medium / small property ........ without going into too much detail / depth each room has its own system one indoor unit, one outdoor unit ( no trunking) so you could start with just one room or a multi unit ...... each room has indoor unit with only one large out door unit feeding up to 6 indoor units & each indoor unit has its own infra red remote control ....... normally the units work in heating or cooling mode (you cannot have heating in one room and cooling in another) there are a couple of systems that will do both but they are a lot more expensive .......... I know you can pull holes in the idea ..... its NOT perfect ...... it gives you heating and cooling ...... and depending on where you are, will not suit everyone ...... also if you do not need it in a certain room you can turn it off in that room !!!!! ....... looking at some of the claims / figures and knowing what I know and putting into plain English ........ in heating mode for every euro used you get on average 4 / 5 euros of heat, depending on outdoor temperatures .......one could argue for years over what is the best system in the same why that you could over wine and I am not saying this is the best system ...... its a tried and trusted system at a reasonable price
  13. Hi Paul Maybe we did both sign up on the same day .......... maybe it was mind transfer ooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh ............ scary.   I notice no feed back on the amazing box with no antenna or maybe he can't find the bit of string?
  14. Hi All As one that works within the industry may I pop in here............. as in all figures and savings quoted by manufacturers etc these are under IDEAL conditions ............. normally these occur once every 3 months on a Thursday and last about 1 hour !!!!!!!! ............ do these systems work ...... yes they do ........... are they cheaper to run ....... yes they are .............. are they expensive to install .......... yes they are .......... do they break down............ yes they do ........... are they easy to repair .... no they are not ( you will need a refrigeration / air-con engineer with knowledge of YOUR system)............ are repairs expensive ........ yes they are ......... is the pay back time as quick as they say ........... very debatable, and in my opinion NO!!........ do I think they are rubbish ............... no I do not ............. IMO they are still in the experimental stage ...... should you be a guinea pig ............. that's up to you ................would I be a guinea pig ..........no I would not ...... so what would I do ......... air to air heat pump ...........  why? ...........well for me a tried and tested system with a reasonable green factor ..... do these systems work ...... yes! you enjoy them in offices & shops .............cheaper to run ......... yes ...... are they expensive to install ........... should not be  ....... do they break down ....... very rare ( some units have 3 year warranty) ...... are they easy to repair ........ any competent engineer should be able to repair .... are repairs expensive ...... could be, but not normally ....... is the pay back time as quick as they say .......... no, but pretty close ..... are they the ideal solution ....... not really but closer than other systems Other factors..... electricity is getting cheaper to produce .... other fuels are getting more expensive ....... you get the full benefit of cooling in the hot weather, very important to some people. I' ll get off my soap box now ...... and remember nothing is perfect Not even ME.   Love to you all
  15. Try doing a search on this site for "Wood Burners"   Bonne Chance
  16. Hi Aliards That is one heck of a question ..........how does one answer ........... no answer really, only my thoughts ........ firstly I do not live in France .........we  have a property there and hopefully will be moving this year ............ when we are there we absolutely love it and if you love it you feel BETTER and that in a nutshell is half the answer the other half is WHERE in Charente ....... where we are, Vienne .........it can be mighty cold, there are parts which I understand are warmer which I am sure other members will tell you about ....... do you REALLY want to be there is the question .......... might be an idea once you have found the area that suits .......... warmer ........ is to rent for a while, a month or two? .......others may be able to recommend an area with a place to stay.... well that's my bit, I'm sure others will have some interesting input.   Bonne Chance
  17. Martin.................you just hit the nail on its head!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Hi Martin........ Happy New Year Don't envy you setting up a 1.5 dish but I think you are right that my dish is too small (80 cm) for this sat ......... I get lots of sats / channels with my set up that I have not worried about the sats on the extremities ....... I'll try and see if I can find out anymore info for you ....... there was a South African channel on 28 e but that disappeared a while back ....... things are changing on a regular basis at the moment lots of murmurs as always ........ from what I understand Canal+ has bought TPS so I guess prices will go up ...........some channels are going to use MPEG 4 .......so 2006 should be interesting ....... don't misunderstand me Martin I'm NO expert just a hobby to me but I do keep my ear to the dish as they say Yes Paul Motorised 80 cm Dish ...... may go for something Bigger not sure yet
  19. Hi All A little advice is ........ you do not need to position the dish on the roof / chimney as long as you have a clear view to the south ........ 28 east sat (for sly) is high in the sky NOT on the horizon ........if the dish is a couple of meters off the ground so much easier to do adjustments ........... I would go along with Martin ..........your digibox is a pain to set up........ sly murdoch has made it that way .......... if you are not worried about channels 4 / 5 a FTA box is better ...... but thats my opinion ............ easting & northing, well that's interesting .......... try latitude / longitude ...... goto Multi Map enter your address inc postcode look at the bottom of the map and it will show your position lat /long Hope that helps .... if you need more info just ask or PM me   Bonne Chance
  20. Hi Martin I think its just out of range or bigger dish maybe or lnb may need a tweek, too cold to get out on my flat roof when it gets warmer I'll have a go............ and yes I do have a motorised dish 80 cm
  21. Hi Paul Don't get me wrong but I did think of this but .......... I did not think anyone would be soooooooo silly!!!!!!!!!! ................hence the wet piece of string
  22. Hi Blade Never heard of this before ...... but you are very vague......... "I believe a friend"......... think he said cost about" .......... "or some shop".................so what type of antenna is you friend using?  .......... wet piece of string?....... sorry but I find this hard to believe.......... that does not mean it cannot be true but I am VERY sceptical ...... can you get MAKE &MODEL NUMBER ...... WOULD BE TERRIFIC FOR ALL EX-PAT'S......... but don't get your hopes up people
  23. Hi Martin Must give Will 10/10 for effort but it does need up dating ..... the phrase "French System " I feel is wrong when applied to either satellite system or satellites themselves.. ..... I feel very confusing for a newbie ....... Better to say French language on Hotbird with a little English ........... English language on Astra 2D ........ IMO....... I do NOT like sly he has ripped off the UK long enough ....... I know where I would like to put one of his digibox's ......... as you know Martin there is plenty FTA on a FTA digital receiver (numerique) and if one knows one can get lots of other channels FTA or NOT  and there are lots of other satellites not all with English language but hey do we need it ............. some of the programs are worth watching even if only for 20 minutes.   To give you some idea ....................................I am going to have 11 ...... yes eleven "New Years" before I get to the UK ...... starting in Japan!!!!!!!!!!! It starts at 3pm UK time ...... most with have a decent firework display ....... some jolly music ......... and a bit of fun The set-up need not cost a fortune and the dish does not need to be higher than two meters in MOST cases.   If you need anymore info just ask or PM me. Happy New Year to you all !!!!!!!!!
