  1. Hi Everyone. Just started renting my house for holidays. This year. I got 6 weeks booked £3500 gross expenses of £1500 so £2000 profit to live on for the summer no other income. I live in England but spend about 4 months here. can anyone point me in the right direction as to where to set off to first to pay my tax. Im thinking ill have to go to the Tressor Publique and register as micro bic so ill pay 10% of 50% of the gross if im lucky. Thank you.
  2. Update! Last week had a letter from the bank saying the tax people had put a stop on any withdrawals until i paid the outstanding Fonc tax bill and 2 fines. I went to the tax people to explain i had been sent no bill and it turns out they sent it to my old address. I had been to there office twice before to make sure they put down my new address, 1st time they put it on the computer and i went back a month later to check. surprise surprise it had reverted to my old address. I told them again and they put it right...... Well somehow it reverted again. I explained all this wen i went to the Tressor and they removed the 2 fines. Then I still had to pay the 85 euros charge by the bank for putting the stop on. 2 days later my account was up and running again.......... I never got charged for the 9 or so years the property was being converted and now pay 460 euros a year Fonc. Thanks everyone.
  3. Thanks Everyone, Got to go past the Tressor pub soon and they helped last time with the h1 form, they filled it in for us and were really helpful. Still have the same address in England as when I bought the place and have not had any post there from France for about 5 years. I get everything sent to the barn in France now and just pick it up when were there. I spoke to a English friend today who has lived here for years he said he thinks that as the Barn was agricultural and too the land with it the previous french owner would have d-registered the land so as not to pay any tax on it. He has 20 or so acres and pays nothing in Fonc. tax on it as he d-registered it. He pays 75 euros a year for the small garden around the house. Im wondering if because the 20 acres are very hilly and rocky they are considered of no great value, our land is also like this. We have a couple of old uranium test mines on it but nothing else. Thanks everyone. ill get back as soon as I have something. If you dont hear from me for a while I may be languishing in a cell somewhere for unpaid bills. Ill get a message out somehow though. Thanks everyone.
  4. Omg! Thank's for that. I was thinking we would get it at the same time as the Hab tax and we havnt had that yet as the place is only just finished. Ill see the Tressor people and get back to say whats happened. thank you.
  5. Hi Everyone, I bough a Barn about 8 years ago and have been converting it. It's got about 15 acres with it and I've not had a Foncier bill ever. I've just finished it so am sending in my H1 form so ill be charged for Habitation. I'm a bit worried something is wrong and one day ill get a huge bill for the past 8 YEARS!!! It's my second home, I live in England. Thank you to anyone who may be able to shed some light on if this is normal. Regards condi
  6. Hi Guys, Thank you for the replies.  I found the fault on the lounge circuit, then thought it was a multi gang trailing socket but it turns out the problem was gone when i removed the uk/france travel adaptor. I've now put French plugs on everything and it is all fine.  Thanks Dave for that info, Ill look into changing the 3 phaze .   I noticed 2 metal framed fluorescent lights that have no earth are showing live on the casing but still work fine so think ill need to look into it and it sounds like what you are saying Dave. Thanks Guys.
  7. Update... Update.....   Just put one of those neon testers on the metal computer case and it glows bright, if i then touch the wall with the other hand it goes dim.
  8. Hi, Question for a sparky please.  I have a 3 phaze supply to my house,  I have noticed a burning tingling sensation from touching the metal parts on my computer case, even a mild mild shock like from a tens machine. I have mcbs in the consumer unit.  I have noticed that when it rains heavilly there is no shock sensation or much less, this may be a red herring but i'm quite sure of it.  Any ideas please on what the cause of this may be?  I'm thinking ( due to the rain) that it may have something to do with the high ground resistance when dry and when wet the ground works better. There is a 1 meter copper rod burried in the ground.   Although if this is the case should this be happening? is this earth leakage? Thank you in advance for any ideas on the cause.  Think ill try it on some other circuits tomorow to see if it's on all or just on the 1. Thank you.
  9. Hi All, maybee this is a tad crazey, but im thinking of driving a JCB type digger loader from the ferry port at Roscof down to dept 12 Aveyron, it takes me about 16 hours in me truck with a big trailer so me thinks maybe 27 hours, i reckon itll be a larf, we got the flashing beacon and the flask of tea,  wouldent have thought there would be much of a problem with driving on the road, unless you have a car atatched to the front bucket. Reckon it might make a good charity event,  also could do gues the fuel consumtion, €1 a guess, the winner gets to drive the digger back to England, hummmmm, ok im off,   chow all    mark

  12. Hi All, WOW! Just been reading all the posts on Bartering, sounds like a lot of paranoia, and quite negative, now that ive actually been living in France for a while though i can apreciate what people are saying,  In any country theres tax to pay and if your not paying youll be in the soup, but i supose its getting things in perspective, if you have a deal with a neighbour whair you do something for a box of veg or vice versa, theres no point loosing sleep over it, your neighbour wont run you in as he's in the same boat as you.  There seems to be a lot of people working on the black, this i feel is totaly different, there able to undercut the artisans because they pay no social charges and tax, the English on the black work for other English for cash and me thinks this is bound to cause some resentment among the locals, who will run them in, fair enough me thinks... aaa who knows, for me i try and keep a simple life, i doo everything myself although i will swop some mellons for some tomatoes with my neighbour, ill go and see the impo and ask them if they want a tomato or piece of mellon. im shure they wont be interested.. chears m
