  1. "genuine ebay accounts with good feedback, are getting cloned by thieves," Yes, happened to my account (350 feedback, 100% positive) a while ago. I suddenly got a barrage of "thanks for listing your item" emails (60-odd, all 'Mont Blanc' pens). I've no idea how they do this, all ebay said was that I must have revealed my password to someone! To be fair, they removed the dodgy listings very quickly, but that obviously depends on the genuine member checking the relevant email address at the right time. Hope you get it sorted.
  2. Both amazon.co.uk and play.com DO deliver books outside the UK. You're right that CD-WOW don't.

    play.com

Edited cos it was gibberish :D (I'd just been discussing something similar elsewhere and was getting confused).
  4. "the ITV/C4 channels" C4 is still encrypted, but ITVs 1-4 are all free to air (ie, no card needed) now.
  5. "payment for taxe d'habitation was due on 15th November" Or 15 December, depending on your area.
  6. We use our UK cards for web shopping, or occasional larger purchases; the hit we take on the exchange rate (marginally mitigated by the 1% cashback we get) is still nowhere near the annual cost of a French card.
  7. "Why then have a UK credit card" Because, unlike French ones, they're free.
  8. Yep, that's the sort of thing; hadn't realised they were available here. Thanks
  9. Hi Can anyone recommend a brand of indegestion tablets available in France - nothing too major, just something to keep in the cupboard along the lines of Setlers Tums or thereabouts? Thanks
  10. Hi Assuming you mean the department, rather than the town of Mayenne, then at 5000km2 I would think you're going to have to narrow that area down a bit in order to get recommendations who are actually local to you.
  11. "A good place to start is www.bestfrenchmortgage.com" A cynic would notice that you seem to be recommending them quite a bit in your first posts on the forum?
  12. Hi Bob I'm sure we've got the manual somewhere, so at least we'll know the dimensions we're looking for. (Hoping to find a side-opening one, which seem pretty rare). Thanks a lot.
  13. Hi Nothing specifically to do with France (and quite possibly a stupid question), but... We're having problems with our oven door (it looks like a small roller part has dropped off within the casing). I'll try to open it up and sort it out, but as there's a 99% probability I'll *&^% it up and we'll need to buy a new oven: are all built-in ovens exactly the same size? Or are we likely to have to replace with the same brand? Thanks for any help.
  14. Have to agree that the only "Coeur de Pigeon" I know of is the cherry (we have a couple of the trees).
  15. Hi "You may be right about the La Poste annual fee, - although I can't see it itemised - it's probably rolled up in some other charge." tarifs : Depuis le 1er juillet 2006 le tarif est fixé à 2,75 € par trimestre. Offre spéciale : abonnement Vidéoposte Net non prélevé jusqu'au 31/12/2006 Actually, I have a sneaking feeling that expiry date for the free service keeps getting pushed back.
  16. "CA and La Poste, neither of whom charge for internet account services." La Poste may not charge per usage, but I'm sure there's an annual free (from memory, €11?)
  17. It does seem a bit counter-intuitive, doesn't it? And I do wonder whether CPAM wouldn't just give you one anyway? "By the way, any thoughts on the E121 question?" Not from me, sorry, I'm far too young!
  18. "f (one) were to have a UK issued E106 why would they want a UK issued EHIC when going on a visit to the UK?" To reflect the fact that any payments arising from its use are ultimately settled by the UK, and not French, authorities. Just like the E106.
  19. Incidentally, if you're still covered by an E106 then it's the UK EHIC you should apply for.
  20. Yes, the French equivalent is the CEAM: details here http://www.ameli.fr/39/DOC/692/fiche.html?page=1 Available from your caisse/CPAM (or online in some departments, I believe?)
  21. Hi That's more promising; thanks to you both.
  22. Thanks JR; I'll bear it in mind, but we don't actually 'travel down'. Thanks again.
  23. "For those in France who cannot access Times Online articles" Just thought I'd mention that the ST is no longer blocked to French IP addresses.
  24. Thanks Will That was the place I was planning to go actually, but read on Angloinfo that it'd closed down, shame.
