Can anyone help us please? We are moving to France to the Limousin and are not sure what happens (if anything) to our U.K.driving licence. Do we have to change them to a French one or can we use the U.K.ones? Also, my husband is a diabetic and under the U.K. DVLA he has to re new it every 3 years. Does anyone know how this would be dealt with? Any information would be helpful as we do not know how it works. Thanks Samantha

Hello, i asked this question some months ago but had no reply, hopefully someone can help this time. We are moving to Normandy and i would like to offer livery to horse owners but apart from the obvious insurance i do not know what else is required. The area we are looking at is Orne. If a specific local bank cannot be recommended then the overall group it is a part of e.g. in the U.K Midland or Nat West. Thanks

Thanks to other people on the forum i have read the article on Britline which is who i was going to open an account with! I will be rethinking. Can anyone recommend a French bank which may also speak English as we are moving to Normandy and i would appreciate any help from others who have experience of this. Thanks

Can someone please help us with this problem as we have had conflicting advice. My husband is retiring and we are moving to live in France but do not know if you have the choice of where to be taxed or it is France. Will his pension be sent gross to France (as i think) and then be taxed under french rules or (as we have been informed) will the U.K. tax his pension and send us the balance and also a tax credit to the french system. His pension is not the state pension - it is a company pension. Could someone please explain this to us? Thanks Sam

My family are hoping to run trekking holidays in Normandy and i have been advised to take the 'ATE' to be qualified and able to advertise using the tourisme offices. Can anyone tell me who to contact to find out more information on this and if sessions are run locally in France or just in one area and also cost and approx. how long the course is. If anyone also has any information on blacksmiths in France i would appreciate it. Approx.cost would be great and if they are more reliable than in the u..k and also if there are more of them than in the u.k. Thanks Chris, this is at least a starting point for us.

We are moving to France to live in the near future and are hoping to run gites and a treking centre (only approx. 4 horses to begin with). So far i have been unable to find any information from anywhere specifically about the treking side. What i need to know is how to go about it and what if any licences i need and who to contact etc. I also need to know if you have to have any specific qualification. I know i will need insurance but i have heard something about a licence but nothing more. I would be pleased to hear from anyone who can let me have information on either of these projects and details of who or where to contact. Thanks
