4. Hi All Could somebody tell me how to write the words one hundred & two Euros in French please. We need to send off a cheque for our home insurance!   Many thanks   Marc
5. Hi Ian Thanks for your reply but I asked this question back in July 2005. I have followed the advise I now use Money Bookers over the net, with this you still achieve spot rate regardless of the sum required & it only costs approx £2.50. It is well worth looking into as it will save money, For very large amounts I would still however go via one of the transfer banks / companies, but anything below £2000 is sent via Money Bookers.   Regards   Marc
6. Could anybody recomend a nice gite in Creuse please. We have a little place in the Vendee & we are taking the "Out Law's" with us next May & we would like to show them another part of France. I have searched a few sites but do not seem to be having much luck finding somewhere nice with three bedrooms but will not break the bank. Many thanks Marc
7. Could anybody recomend a B&B / Gite for 5 adults beside the river for 2 nights next May. We are taking the "Out Laws" to our holiday home in the Vendee & would like to stopover for a couple of day's to show them another part of France.   Many thanks   Marc
8. Hi JR We now taransfer from our bank to Moneybookers who then transfer into our bank (Britline), This takes approx 5 days in total & cost approx £3.00 only, we also get a spot rate which is far more that any bank would offer. You will find it very easy to use once sent up. Marc

13. I do not think that as a moderator you are setting a very good or dare I say "professional" example. The web & forums are for the people by the people. If anybody does not like comments which are made, they should not put themselves in the position to recieve them. If a person wants their private life to remain private, best they draw a line & decide not to cross it. Marc
14. It may seem a little daft but I really get cheesed off by Brit's who have been in France for a while or are far more advanced at the language who always including the odd French word as if to demonstrate the point. We all had to learn at some point & some people are far more advanced than others, you see good examples of this on a regular basis in this forum. To me it is a bit like keeping up with the Jones & going one better, " you have a black cat but mine is black'er" Marc
15. Sorry - Sat Nav & Mappy say's to bear right after tunnel but keep left & follow signs to Le Mans Marc
16. Hi Bill The A28 is superb & has reduced our journey from Calais to Apremont (Vendee) from 7 hrs to 5 1/2 hrs. Rouen is not a problem at all & I have found that the best route is to keep left after the tunnel & follow the signs to Le Mans. If you were to bear left as per the Sat Nav & Mappy printouts it takes you along the embankment which slows things down a bit. There are plenty of services open at the moment & the only fixed speed camara is by the two sections across a viaduct when it is single carridgeway. The road is excellent with next to no traffic on it. the omly problem is that you have to keep a check on your speed as it is very easy to exceed the limits without being aware, I looked down at one point & we were going 115MPH!. Good road but watch the speed Marc
17. Hi All Can anyone help me with some details or the location of river trips on the Loire please. We will have our elderly parents staying with us (Apremont, Vendee) in May & would like to take them on a river trip for a couple of hours. I have searched the internet with no avail, all information will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance Marc
18. Hi again Lizzy Just seen your web site & it is the same site, I did state £1000 not Euros. I must say that your web site is excellent & your property looks superb as well. I will be in contact when we venture into your region! Regards Marc
19. Hi Lizzy   Are you sure it is the same site ? www.camping-les-prairies-du-lac.com
20. Could anybody recomend a senic picnic spot in the pyrnees? We are travelling down from the Vendee in late may with my elderly outlaws (inlaws) to stay for a couple of nights at a B&B in Buzy. We would like to take them up in the mountains but they are not able to walk any distance. We wanted to take them on the "Le Petit Train D'Artouste" but it opens a week later. Many thanks   Marc (Apremont 85)
21. I asked the same question a couple of months ago & a couple of kind people suggested Moneybookers.com. I have tried them out & can recommend the service. I transfer sterling from our Lloyd's current account to Moneybookers which takes approx 3 days at no charge. I then transfer from Moneybookers to our Britline account in Euros which takes approx 3 days, We get the rate as listed on BBC Teletext (page 241) which is far better than any bank or tourist exchange available regardless of amount. The cost to do this is approx £2.00 with no hidden fees!. I tried it out with £25.00 to make sure all worked well, I have since transferred sums of £100, £500, £1,250 with no problems at all. I only wish I had known about this when I purchased our "little bit of France" in the Vendee as not only would I have recieved a better spot rate (like for like) the fees are cheaper & the transfer quicker!. Regards   Marc
22.
we are interested in buying a static caravan holiday home and have been looking at Haven parks on the atlantic coast. Does anyone have any info about these parks? and are there any other companies tha...
Hi Rushs, We have recently bought a mobile holiday home in the Vendee region which has turned out to be one of the best things we have ever done. Are home is sited in Apremont on a superb park which is open 12 months a year. It depends on what you are after as to if a Haven site is right for you. If you are happy with limited access (April to Sept only) and require plenty of entertainment that sort of site will suit, if you require a more relaxing holiday then there are plenty of others to explore. It will require a fair amount of searching to find the correct mobile home in the correct location with a site which will suit you, but stick at it & you will find plenty of sites. We looked at Haven as well as some companies who offer you a "full service" which I will not name hear but will be happy to let you know via an Email. We discovered that all they do is have a contact with the site owners & then sell you a mobile for approx 30% more than you can buy the same thing direct with the site owner. To give you an example, we have purchased a top of the range IRM Emeraude (www.irm-sa.fr) which is fully equipped & furnished with a option washing machine on a 200m2 plot with a 7.5x2.5mtr decking & a shed fully installed for approx £32,000. The companies wanted approx £38,000 for the mobile home alone!. We are on a beautiful site that has a bar & swimming pools close to the village of Apremont which has a large lake & Chateau. Our site fees are only £1,000 per year. If I can be of any help to you I will be happy to do so.   Marc
