5. If you have only recently taken possesion of the house, then you only pay this years Taxe fonciere for the land. You should have filled in an H1 form to say the build has been completed within 90 days of completion, if you have done this then you should get the next 2 years free of Taxe Fonciere.
6. I liked the term my local hire place used, a une dame vibrante[:D](from the verb (damer- to pack down) more usually called a plaque vibrante[:)].
7.
Pardon moi but what is SMIC level ?
You will find some info here. http://www.insee.fr/en/indicateur/smic.htm
8. You will need to contact your local water company and ask for a quote from them to do the connection from the mains to the edge of your property, they are I believe, the only people allowed to do this, you can get someone else to do the rest of the work to connect up to it. You may be able to fill out a form online to obtain a devis, check out the web site of your water company. It cost me approx. €1300

11. I have lived in France since January 2003 and received a Titre de SĂ©jour the same year and after producing proof of resources etc I joined C.P.A.M. CMU de base, it was a legal requirement to do so and I have in line with other people had to renew this each year.  I have filled out a French tax return since 2004 and paid social charges on the interest on my savings but not income tax as I am below the threshold, I have no other income or pensions. This year I was out of the country for 6 weeks January and part of February during this period of absence CPAM had sent me a letter asking me to send them proof of my resources in France and particularly my funds in the UK by the time I had returned to France another letter from CPAM had arrived in effect saying because I had not replied to their previous letter they were going to assess my income “une taxation d’office”.  I had to pay URSSAF of course and then start an appeal procedure with the C.R.A. which has been going on ever since. It has now been decided that the money I have withdrawn from my bank for my living expenses and from documentation I had provided to them, would be used as the figure for my Income for the year, and not the R.F.R . from my avis d’impot. After deducting the allowance of €7083 I have to pay 8% on the rest. I have nothing to hide and have done everything as far as I could by the book. I am looking into the next step for appeal maybe with T.A.S.S. if anyone has any knowledge of this I would be interested to hear from you. So in short if your worldwide income means you are below the Tax threshold and therefore not having to pay 8% of your income to C.P.A.M. you may have to think again it appears that C.P.A.M. can make up their own rules. I have just returned my documents for the renewal of my affiliation to C.P.A.M. for this year, I will have to wait and see what the result will be.[:)]
12. If you are using an ethernet cable from livebox to pc try using a USB cable instead, you may have to use the instalation disc again but try it first. If it works then you can try going back to the etheret cable.
13. "The door on the "wrong side " seemed to matter when I tried to insure mine .....please post the name of a French insurance company who will cover your UK van ..lots of caravan owners would love to know one ......My  house insureres are one of the biggest not just in France but all over Europe and they would not cover my UK made van ..."door on wrong side " they said .....I dont think French companies want to know about UK vans  and the "wrong side door " is their get out . " If the caravan has been registered in France what's the problem? I was not asked which side the door was on when I insured my ex UK caravan, nor were any of the friends I know with ex UK caravans.I just had to supply the insurance company with a copy of the Carte Gris.
14. No. you need to access the internet from a friends computer or  internet cafĂ©, etc. then go to the Orange.fr website and choose email "Messagerie", enter your username and password, you will then be able download your emails.
15. AFAIK. All you get it is the the paperwork relating to the 10 year guarantees from the various trades, used during the build. You should have the paperwork for the ownership of the land and the builders plans and permits to build, that's as good  as it gets in France, no Deeds to the property as in the UK. I will let you know more next week when I get our new build signed over.
16. Thanks to all for the info, I have the local satellite installer coming on Tuesday to sort it out.
17. Don't forget that you may have a problem with A UK registered car and caravan staying in France without a UK address for six months[:)]
18. Our new build is now complete, just waiting for the hand over; I now need to install a satellite dish for SKY TV, we have TV points in most of the rooms and I assume that we have some sort of a junction box in the loft. If I want to attach a SKY box to more than one of these TV points, do I need anything other than a standard dish and LNB? I would appreciate any advice.
19.

[We receive all our new cards here in France, as I am sure most people do, if the account was opened before leaving the UK, I don't see a problem.
From the Nationwide? The reason I ask is that I left my card in an ATM in Bolivia, they cancelled it but would only send the new one to my UK address, I had to then arrange for it to be sent on to me in New Zealand.
Yes! we told them of our change of address before leaving the UK and we have always had the new cards delivered here to our French address's. The one thing I should add is, that if you change your address in France, you may have to go to your UK branch to do the paperwork before they will change it.
20. There is no set timescale it's up to the Notaire, once he's paid everyone then thats it, but you nearly always have to ask for the paperwork, which of course are not the deeds to the property, but just the certified copy of the papers you signed on the day of purchase plus a few other related documents, "Copie Authentique".
21. You will find some information here that you may find usefull. http://www.agence.francetelecom.com/vf/client/demenagement/img/adduction_presentation.pdf
22.
Hi there. We also have N/W accounts. We were told that it Ok to use a French address for bank statements etc- BUT they could not send new cards to a non- uk address. We actually have our address listed as my parents address in the uk, so we can collect the cards from them. We told the NW that this was parents address and they said not a problem. Do you have any family who can act as your "host" address? If not we were also told that cards could be collected as required from our branch. Depends whether you need to return in future to where ever your branch is based. Joy
We receive all our new cards here in France, as I am sure most people do, if the account was opened before leaving the UK, I don't see a problem.
23. Thanks again, I will let you know the outcome.
