  1. a.  Usually.  Still got to go to work.  Still get bills.  Still rains two minutes after the bbq is lit.  Etc. b.  Always fancied Italy.  Certainly planning a move but will rest in France.
  2. If you listen carefully ... put your ear to the screen ... you will be able to hear the hunters banging away here. In thick fog.
  3. Marcassin - usefull having a French husband.  Sometimes. I like the bit about the ex-pats.  I imagine, around here, at least, that the Froggie is in danger of losing his habitat and hunting grounds.  Been outbid by the ex-pats and are slowly being pushed into a smaller area. Does this mean that what happened to the red squirrel in the UK will happen to the Froggies here?  Get their nuts pinched and be forced to interbreed, eventually wiping out the Froggie race? Blimey!  Just thought.  Already happened in this family.  Power to les Anglaise!!
  4. Sorry, that is how I got mine.  Someone more up to date may know if things have changed. Had the number for ten years now and it is still temporary . . .  Did change from the MSA to CPAM and they gave me my 'permanant' one.  Caused chaos.  Especially when I went back to the MSA.
  5. I love Avranches market.  All those little old ladies selling their fruit and flowers.  All using 'strong-arm selling' techniques!  Not like that here.  More professional.
  6. I am sure I have seen this before - the house that is.  No access to UK telly so has it featured in one of the renovation books?  Could have been either French of English as I have developed an addiction to British magazines whilst on my hols.  Show me 25 Beautifull Homes and I am in heaven . . .!!
  7. Now, I wonder why the pages jeune showed the site adress with a dash?  I got on too. Wonderfull things, computers . . .
  8. Seems to be an around here thing.  Here is their site: http://tissus-myrtille.fr fingers crossed it works!
  9. MMMmmmmmmmmmmm  Very nice.  Well risen, light, good colour. This is the ordinary 'pain' flour.  They do two others.
  10. Sorry about that.  Yes, it is Myrtille and they have a shop at Chanterpie in Rennes.  They are a chain so if you don't live near Rennes, you could search for them in the pages jeune under tissu. The one in St Brieuc is Self Tissu.  Was there yesterday.  They have the toile de jouy.  Saw it in pink but not blue.  Sometimes black available.  Don't forget that it is usually 2,40 wide. Where are you near?  Self Tissu are in Vannes too.
  11. Don't know what happened there.  I edited my message and it disappeared!
  12. Well, it looks and smells wonderfull.  Am forcing myself to wait until 4.45 to have the crust.
  13. On the programme Saturday, there were prizes to be won if you could guess the ages combined of the two stars.  Antoine will be 51 in December.  Born 1953. C'est pas juste! José Garcia is an actor/film star etc.  Must say, they make a wonderfull equipe.  My humour could be warped of course.
  14. Sorry, nothing positive to say at all.  It can be very tricky. However, you knew this.  Several of your posts have been about the tenant having all the good cards in their hands.  This is how it is in France.  Laws protect them.
  15. I have never heard of not being able to count weekends.  If the 10th day falls on a Sunday you have to wait until the Monday to post it but apart from that...? Even if they recieve your papers back at the bank, there might be another delay whilst they organise the payment. What about the clause in the acte relating to everything depending on the mortgage?  Anyway, fingers crossed....
  16. Sorry, didn't get to the second page. Talking of taxe fonctionaire, just discovered I have been paying for a building I sold nine years ago...  My poor neighbour, who I sold it to, hasn't slept since!  What a worrier.  Turns out we have BOTH been paying.
  17. Before I knew what I was doing, like last week, I used to pay my bills in cash at la Poste and you just pay a charge.  Is it 2€ something now?  Anyway, I found it cheaper than petrol to EDF. Then I discovered TIP . . .!  Told you I was useless!
  18. Mmm.  You will have to be very carefull.  Once you have given them notice they might not pay any rent and, as you say, you can't chuck them out in the winter.  Then the whole scenerio can start up again the next year.  You could lose thousands. Cases like this, where the tenants are determined to stay, can go on for years in France . . . There again, they might be model tenants and find somewhere else!
  19. Have you seen them both Jill?  They used to be on every night in Nul Part Ailleurs which is probably spelt wrong.  José Garcia was usually dressed up as a woman.  Or a chick.  Or a cod.  It was Antoine who wrote the sketches.  He is another Cliff.  Gets younger every day.
  20. Spotted this in Cora at St Malo yesterday.  First time I have seen it.  Will try it either today or tomorrow. Everything comes to those that wait.  Soon suet will be readily available!
  21. Thank you.  Will give it try.
  22. Someone mentioned calendars on another thread so I would like to warn all you new arrivals to get your money ready 10€ each I give to the pompiers and the postie.  Then I have the one from the bank and the one from the assurance and the one from the tabac and the one from the garage and the one from the hairdresser and the one from. . .
  23. Changing the subject completely . . . I actually saw a pheasant today.  Don't see many around here AT ALL!  The hunters don't seem to have cottoned on to the fact that if you shoot all the Mummies and Daddies one year, there are no babies the next .. Also had my path crossed by THREE foxes in twenty minutes this morning.  Hope they weren't looking for my chickens.
