  7. I visited my mum in her `place of rest` on monday, glad your girls night out subjects didnt `pay a visit` on one of the adjacent graves, they would have either put the lit candles out or burnt their arses! mrs O
  8. Charlotte3. I have read through the debacle and wonder why you want everyone to pick on me? We too took our car for its CT in hope and passed.....we were quite prepared to wade through various scrapyards for the lights...but like your lucky car we didn`t need to, so why start an arguament against `les opas`? beam benders now in situe and remember the saying `dip don`t dazzle`bonne route
  9. Well done folks, you obviously crossed all the right bits , as our car passed CT this  morning.....without beam deflectors , as Mr O thought the green masking tape stood out like a sore thumb!

  12. I will re-iterate what dordognecarol says, our daughter has quite a complex and very rare syndrome and when we arrived here in France we brought with us  a dossier of all her med records(think of this is your life and double it!) all are in english. We gave them to the various specialists she sees ,who photocopied them . We offered to loosely translate them (immsgining playing chirades) but none was needed as most medical terms are similar, Hope this helps.
  13. Please will you all cross your bits and pieces as Mr O has just left the house for the CT, hopefully the mechanic will be a bit dopey at this time in the morning and not notice the beam benders......Ford want a fortune for the lights and we have been scouring scrapyards without sucess!
  14. Nothing to do with France I know except that quite a few members of the loosing team are French.   Mrs O
  15. OOH val 2 , unless you are one of those ladies who can eat all and not think about it you will surely be applying at ANPE for the job of pere noel(which is on their site in our region) Will leave my pre indulgence for a few more weeks and put my workout CD on each morning to rid the gilt......then have another slice,as I will have earned it
  16. We have only lived in France for just over 12 months and it was TU last year who got me into buying the said chocs ...mmmmm you have definatly NOT got to buy any of these, especially if you have a sweet tooth and enjoy chocolate , as they come in white ,dark and milk and some even have praline in them. I posted a few weeks ago saying that we had been in Lidl in Prades( no where near TU...so don`t think they are regional) and they had them on sale  along with stollen.  I was very good and resisted the temptation as I am doing Rosemary Conleys Whole body workout and doing very well(well Mr O is passing favourabl comments anyway!) I too am off to UK this week and must go out tomorrow to get some goodies for my close reletives and friends......and perhaps a small (ish!!) bag of papillotes for myself and the girls for the plane, ooh can`t wait now See told you I was excited, my fingers are twitching

  20. We today visited our local garage with a need for the control technic. We asked a few questions about how the re test is charged for and what specifically will the test be looking for.  We were asked if we thought there was a problem for the car to pass, which we laughed and said it should pass except one back tyre which has signs of wear and plan to renew befor the test. The response then from the technician was that we would have to renew both rear tyres as they have to measure the same tread. Is this so? as the other rear tyre is fairly new is seems a little excessive to have to buy the pair(only just renewed both front) .I can see the point that the control is only every 2 years so the tyres will wear at the same rate. If this is correct I can now understand why you see huge mounds of dumped tyres near garages .
  21. Just to add it was an anpe "request" that one attented the "interview"mileage at the start was****21 mileage at the end of test ****22 with card marked excelent driver,ps today recu a phone call telling the said MrO that I have got the job,now trying to say nicely in french it would be better if you give it to a french driver.MrO
  22. Yesterday Mr 0 went for an interview. He was given a slot for 3pm. Left home in plenty of time for the 20 min drive(2.15 ish). He returned home at 7,15pm.....and no he hadn`t visited the bar! A bit of  hand on experience was required to demonstate that he could do the work with his eyes closed, there were 6 other candidates who all had to prove the same experience. Then Into the office for what I can only describe as an Induction talk which went on for over 2 hours. What was the possision you ask yourself(unless you know Mr O).....very highly skilled HGV driver class 1 with all the necessary passes for French driving....but the job is a temp vacancy for 4 weeks! He set his tacho and backed on to a loading bay and drove around a roundabout and back to the depot in less than 5 mins! Is this the longest interview ever?
  23. Hubby is Ian and gets YAN, eldest Jennifer which i think sounds lovely in either language youngest is Sarah and to me sounds hard in french ,getting Sahah, and me ,well, how do you get Deb or ha from Deborah!
