1. We would have gone into recession anyway, although it probably wouldn't have been so bad. The US are $14 trillion in debt and this argument between the republicans and democrats is completely ridiculous. I actually agree with the presidents option in this case, although I reckon the biggest cuts they could make is by stopping this war on the other side of the planet, that is probably the biggest expense of all. Complete waste of money.
2. Greece are lucky in that other countries are paying for their mistakes.
3. For all the adulation and claims of being a great star etc, amazingly she never even had a number 1 single.
4. We're in the middle of a heatwave here. It's cooled down to early 90's now, but it was over 100 and very humid too last weekend. Thank god for air conditioning.
5. The autopsy failed to tell what killed her then. Amazing that we can tell what killed a mummy 3000 years ago, yet we can't tell what killed a drug infested rock star last week... Edit: The news didn't mention the fact that it takes up to 4 weeks for the report to come through.
6. Won't be until next year sometime. I need to sell my house first. Can't decide on where to get married yet either. Has to be in the US, that's for sure and it will only be a small wedding. Not Las Vegas anyway - too tacky. Might be at the beach at Cape May in New Jersey. Close to us and we both like that town. New Jersey is very practical to live in, but it's not the most spectacular place on earth.
7.
M Coeur de Lion, do you really believe that about Kate Bush, well knock me down if you do. Wuthering Heights make me cringe like running a nail over polystyrene, and for the rest, well, nothing exceptional at all; someone I had forgotten about and am amazed that everyone else hasn't forgotten her. LOL when I saw you say 'I dare say Bush even inspired Winehouse' really my instant reaction was, why would George Bush inspire Amy Winehouse, the penny took a few seconds to drop. Anyway good job we don't all like the same things, be a funny old world if we did.
Do I believe she keeps herself to herself, yes I do. When was the last concert she performed in? She rarely gives interviews despite demand, and rarely makes public appearances. Regarding Wuthering Heights, I don't like that song either, but she has written some very good stuff, but I do admit that I think appreciation of her music is an acquired taste. There is a great deal of depth to it that can't be seen on just a few listens imo. Even now after 30 years of listening to her stuff, I am finding new ways to appreciate it. Her old stuff is definitely the best but I think she has done a couple of really bad albums too.
8. Went with this one in the end. http://www.littmanjewelers.com/Assets/Images/Products/1288141.main.jpg
9. did I ever mention I proposed earlier this month? On 4th July. She said yes :)
10. I hope you're able to find a happy solution for him. It used to break my heart when mine went into a fit. It was weird, he would always know when one was coming as he would try and be close to me. Sometimes early in a fit if he wasn't close to me, he would crawl mid fit to me, it was so weird.
11. He was just over 10. Had to have him put down last October. He went downhill rapidly. Next time he has one, if you have one, take a video of him in order to show your vet. Then the vet will be able to make a better diagnosis. I did this with mine. As he only had a fit seldomly we decided against medication.
12. I know the other way round, to get into the USA, you have to apply for a visa first to enter the US as a married partner of a US citizen. This takes about 6 months.
13. My dog was epileptic. He would go under for anything from a minute to 5. As he got older they got longer. He would shake, his eyes looked like they were bulging open and he would dribble a lot. He wouldn't make a sound but he looked distressed. After, he would get up and walk around as if nothing happened. This started when he was 5 and he had one a year on average but the year he died, he had several. He died of liver failure in the end, I have no idea if this was linked. Best thing to do when he's having them is to be calm, quiet and just gently stroke him to reassure him. But get him to a vets and see what options you have for him.
14. I just took mine back to the shop and said there you go. They didn't understand me so I said "voila" instead :)
15. I dare say Bush even inspired Winehouse.
16. Kate Bush has far more right to be classed as one of the greats than Winehouse though. Her music has influenced so many artists.
17. The way I see it is that he is as much a christian as Osama Bin Laden was a muslim. Anyone can claim to be whatever they want, but the truth is how they choose to act shows us what they really are. In these cases, mindless murdering bastards. Religion is not the cause of violence or war. Man is and he uses religion as a tool by twisting the message to suit themselves. Looking how many different sects there are in christianity. Very few actually agree with one another. I dare say most other religions are the same. It leads me to the conclusion that finding the right religion has similar odds to winning the Euro lottery! ie no hope.
18. Kate Bush is my favourite. She's how a celebrity should be. She's original, has one of the best voices I've heard in modern music and doesn't make a song and dance (pardon the pun) out of herself. She's very private and keeps herself to herself.
19. I'm glad to hear that Sue. She wasn't even that good imo. Certainly not in the same league as other rock stars that died the same age and way.
20. Watch her death take number 1 spot in the news over the tragedy in Norway.
21. I would have rented instead of buying.
22. But there's not much recorded history of the indigenous population.
