1. You might even be able to wind the legs down to take the pressure of the tyres. Mind you that would be a good idea whoever it was kept.
2.
Although not affecting this case but this is something I have just come across whilst searching for something else - trailer registration in the UK https://www.gov.uk/government/news/register-your-trailer-if-you-want-to-take-it-abroad
That’s interesting. It might certainly help anyone who is bringing a UK trailer to France permanently if they need to register it here. I don’t know how it works with ANTS but over the years people trying to register caravans and horseboxes have often hit a brick wall when the person at the prefecture could not accept that British trailers o& that weight do not have either registration certificates or thei4 own registration number.
3. If it is going to be towed by a UK registered car while it’s owners are visiting their holiday home there is no need to register it in France. As most trailer tents will weigh less than 500kg there is no need to register it in France even if it’s going to be towed by a French registered car, it will just need a number plate with the tow car’s registration and will normally be covered by the cat’s insurance.
4. Are you talking about bringing it to and leaving it at your holiday home? If so, no problem.
5. As said the Evian area is lovely but expensive. Your wife is really going to have to come to terms with the name issue as it is only one of the things that a lot of British immigrants find to be an unacceptable difference to what they call normal. When moving to another country you can’t just cherry pick the customs and ways that you like, you need to compromise and adapt. Over the years I’ve seen too many people move to their dream home in France then try to change as much as possible to make it like the place they have left. When in Rome...

7.
I'm not intending to be rude, but if you can't find out by yourself how to do that after 11 years in France, I suggest you get an agent to do the paperwork for you. Here is one chosen at random https://www.cartegrise.com/vente-voiture-occasion , you can search online for many more, or use a local garage to do it. A CT is a CT, there are no varieties, such as a full one or otherwise.
Did you have difficulty understanding the point about the full CT? I think that’s a reading comprehension problem on your part.
8. One of the bigger changes will be that you will probably have to start counting your days more carefully as the 90/180;days in the Schengen area will be enforced. There is however the possibility that a visa will actually make life easier for second home owners. The huge changes will affect British people who want to move permanently to France to work as once the freedom of movement disappears finding employment will become much harder and setting up as self employed in France will be all but impossible. As a retired Briton with a holiday home in France you probably won’t find a huge amount to worry about.
9. I’m lucky in that my neighbour‘s son is a history teacher who has carried out a lot of research into the history of our hamlet including my house. He had access to the departmental archives and the information that he discovered came through hours of research and cross referencing, a real labour of love. An interesting point is that, in our case, the facts backed up by the archives were quite difference to the recognised story retold by several of the residents.
10. Not me, all I typed was the ‘?’.

12. Jus5 out of interest what unnerving changes have been forced upon you? I too am a BP customer and I have always been pleased with the service they offer but, as with a lot of these things, it might be as much to do with the staff I deal with than the chain in general. I have always found their online banking facilities to be excellent, my British bank is only beginning to catch up in that regard.
13. Where are you coming from? Travelling with four people will always be expensive on public transport, if the links exist, and one way car hire where possible is also costly. Two friends of mine who have done parts of the walk twice ended up driving to their chosen starting point and using free car parking there. The walked for about ten days each time and got public transport back to their starting point where they picked up their car.

Your mother must have been so proud if you. I don’t suffer fools and will often question odd posts, if that’s a crime I must be guilty.
15. I can read the quotes, can’t you? I found your second comment soon after you had first replied very unwelcoming to a new ‘member’. Did you expect him to check the site every few minutes? He might also have found your reply unhelpful, personally I found it bizarre.
16.
Still no response 24 hours later
I’m not surprised, if I’d seen your unpleasant response I don’t think I would have come back.
17. Not bad nomoss, in your post you only managed to copy two of the traits that you despise in other people; you managed to insult and write drivel, why didn’t you go for the full-house and use some bad language as well?
18. You are either a French resident or not. If you are you have to complete a French tax return declaring all of your worldwide income even if some of it may be liable for tax in the UK; if you are not a French resident but have income that is liable to be taxed in France, for example income from French property, you will also have to complete a French tax return to declare that income. If you are a French resident you may apply for a CdS (if your prefecture is accepting applications) and you will have to apply for or apply to exchange you CdS for the correct certificate of residency after Brexit. Applying for a CdS will make no difference to your tax status, if you are entitled to apply then your tax situation has already been established.
19. Well done. It’s great when you actually get to the end and it’s all worked out OK.
20. You’re encouraging some pretty subjective replies so it would help to know where you are planning to start, what you hope to see along the way and the sort of bike you are hoping to hire. France can be a paradise for motorcyclists with thousands of kilometres of low traffic density roads, beautiful scenery and biker friendly accommodation. There is also a lot to see and whatever you interests are will have a big effect on any suggestions. Are you driven by architecture, history, wild countryside or the motorcycling itself? The roads on offer vary from the typical arrow straight tree lined undulating roads through the heartland, the tight winding rural roads linking small communes together, mountain passes in the Alps, Pyrenees and Voges to mention a few or the network of chemins that criss-cross the country from north to south and from east to west. Me, I could recommend plenty of routes that are suited to a sports tourer that take in medieval villages and chateaux of all shapes and sizes but you might be looking for cruiser friendly straight lines, the most sun and the sophistication of the south east.
21. When I’ve insured a vehicle before having the Carte Grise in my name my insurance company has always given me one month’s cover and a one month vignette for the windscreen pointing out that I need to bring the CG in my name in before the full year’s cover is provided. They do it all the time. The one time that, because of a registration problem the CG in my name hadn’t arrived within a month, they gave me another month’s cover.
22. ET has made the important point; banks send codes by SMS which uses one of the channels on the mobile signal. It does not arrive via messenger or any of the other Apps that can be accessed by WiFi. When I need a code from my bank it arrives on my iPhone that it connected to the mobile phone data and my WiFi, not by my iPad that is connected only to the WiFi. (it’s a bit confusing because a SMS message sent from an Apple device is received by both) The important thing is that a smartphone will be no better for receiving SMS messages sent from your bank (or Amazon, or Dominos, or ...) than your current Nokia. If you have a French SIM card in your Nokia and put it somewhere that you know it will pick up a signal it will work fine. Your best bet for a SIM card will be from either Free or Leclerc if you just want a basic deal. My 11 year old smartphone picks up WiFi as well as my 18 month old one. I have a Tesco SIM in it because my U.K. bank needs a U.K. mobile number and although it rarely gets used for much else, it can be used through my WiFi like any other smart item.
23. Bizarre. You have a swipe at somebody through a forum then you act hurt because somebody else makes a negative comment about your stance. If you like giving it out you have to be prepared to take some flak in return. In playground parlance, you started it. I would have said exactly the same to your face, big man.
24. I’m not second guessing anybody but I was intrigued by you negative stance and a a Google search brought me to a Daily Telegraph article that seemed to fit you perfectly. They too had a go at Macron through their headline while the article itself explained the choices he had made. Perhaps you need to read the DT, you need all the help that you can get.
