  1. Do you mean this UEA? The one where Professor Phil Jones worked? Where he colluded to alter past temperature records, so the data would fit the theory? While it doesn't prove NASA's involvement - I've got some more on their antics for later! Here's an email to Phil Jones of the UEA discussing how to do it.
  2. NASA is about the very worst example of official organisations you could have chosen for your "proof" . They are notorious for climate data fraud and have been for many years.
  3. Are you really saying that mankind can control the climate of planet earth? Drayton Boy said Control no, alter 100%.
  4. Are you really saying that mankind can control the climate of planet earth?
  5. They've been captured by the climate cult, no reason or scientific argument will deter them from believing in their false prophets.
  6. Ever heard of the great storm of 1703? "The storm was unprecedented in ferocity and duration and was generally reckoned by witnesses to represent the anger of God, in recognition of the "crying sins of this nation". The government declared 19 January 1704 a day of fasting, saying that it "loudly calls for the deepest and most solemn humiliation of our people". It remained a frequent topic of moralising in sermons well into the 19th century.[7]" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_storm_of_1703#:~:text=The great storm of 1703,Forest%2C which lost 4%2C000 oaks. This occured before the industrial revolution, diesel SUV's, jet aircraft, gas central heating etc - so what was the cause? Weather? Climate? Climate is what is expected. Weather is what you get.
  7. IMAGINARY CHANGES OF CLIMATE. (Pall Mall Gazette.) a plentiful crop of speculation from weather prophets and projectors, and half-instructed meteorologists, and all the philosophic tribe of Laputa in general, to whom the periodical press now affords such fatal facilities. every season is sure to be “extraordinary,” almost every month one of the driest or wettest, or windiest, coldest or hottest, ever known. Much observation, which ought to correct a tendency to exaggerate, seems in some minds to have rather a tendency to increase it. – Brisbane Courier, January 10 1871
  8. A handy average weather data website for wherever you are. https://weatherspark.com/
  9. I shan't be pestering him all the time , it's just that we had a leak on a part where the slates are secondhand, that was done by the original french owner, and he was doing some finishing work on his roof. I don't have one of those very thin light roofing ladders to get at the site of these leaks, i'll probably end up making one.
  10. "If you get a complex DIY job wrong (leaking roofs for example) the cost benefit analysis takes a real hit, imo." I must admit to feeling a bit smug about "leaking roofs". The long unoccupied breton longere next door to us has been bought at last. The young guy who bought it is renovating it from top to bottom, end to end and is doing a very good job, including a complete new slate roof, trusses, purlins, volige. dormers etc. He works for a local roofing company. He already very kindly fixed a small leak for us requiring a couple of new slates, wouldn't take any money for his trouble so we gave him a bottle of wine - a nice old Burgundy.
  11. Back in the 1970's - there was a similar period of instability. "However, after a coal miners' strike Heath decided to hold an election to renew his mandate to govern in February 1974 but lost narrowly to Wilson. There was again talk of a military coup, with rumours of Lord Mountbatten as head of an interim administration after Wilson had been deposed. In 1974 the army occupied Heathrow Airport on the grounds of training for possible IRA terrorist action at the airport. Although the military stated that this was a planned military exercise, Downing Street was not informed in advance, and Wilson himself interpreted it as a show of strength, or warning, being made by the army."
  12. Has anyone ever done a cost/benefit analysis on this cgt versus artisanal receipts situation? On most jobs the labour is the bigger cost, which a DIYer supplies for free.
  13. Do it all yourself - if you know what you are doing, do you have any practical skills?
  14. Cannot find any link to the brother's actions, but there is a clue to the slowness/inaction of the authorities here:- "The prosecutor does not rule out any leads, including those of possible racial or religious motivations, knowing that the victim was "probably veiled" and that the crime scene is located in front of a mosque. Renaud Gaudeul showed great caution.“We would be wrong if we did not also investigate in this direction. But no element at this stage allows to accredit these tracks. This is the beginning of a criminal case, and the smallest details naturally interest the investigators" They are probably tiptoeing around the case - afraid of upsetting the members of the mosque. https://www.ouest-france.fr/pays-de-la-loire/nantes-44000/une-femme-poignardee-et-tuee-dans-la-rue-a-nantes-ce-que-l-on-sait-de-cet-homicide-9a38d096-4d66-11ed-8059-c21ebfd52069

  19. This situation can be fraught with problems - your friendly french farmer neighbour probably knows the property laws backwards. Go to a notaire and get proper advice. These rights, once granted, are often a source of later dispute and nuisance between the farmer and the owners of a property. If you do enter into an agreement you would be wise to ensure it specifies, in precise detail, the rights of access, including maintenance responsibilities, security and those permitted access. If there is no consideration for the rights of way, then no legal tenancy is created, but even so, be cautious about entering into any kind of informal agreement with neighbours about use of your land" https://www.french-property.com/guides/france/property-rights/rights-of-way/authorisations/
  20. By "internet boxes" does that mean a person's own router?
  21. The technical problem that will eventually scupper Radio 4 long wave 198 is that the transmitter uses archaic meter high glass valves. They are no longer made or technically supported - when they are done, so is R4.
  22. The telecommand relay that controls the circuit that the washing machine is powered up by, normally has three available selections available for you OFF MAN AUTO According to this news about Linky interfering with the signal to switch on your hot water heating st the lunchtime period, you need to select MAN = "manual" to switch it on at the lunchtime period, but then you need to remember to switch it back to AUTO = "automatic" to catch the evening heating period which linky will not interfere with. The difference in the tariff pleine/creuse is not stated.
