  1. You need to search https://www.pagesjaunes.fr for "forage d'eau" There are quite a lot of regulations regarding drilling and water extraction. This and the subsequent web pages give a reasonable background https://forage.ooreka.fr/748115/rubrique/748117/les-demarches
  2. We're not doing any more planting until the end of next week, Meteo France only forecasts temperatures down to 2C but we know from past experience we need to subtract another 3C from that so -1C. Some broad beans which were grown inside and hardened off each day have been in the ground for a week now and doing well. All the other plants will remain inside. We had one night of frost earlier this week; some of the first leaves of our very old walnut trees have been blackened has have some leaves of small oak trees which have only been growing for a year or two.
  3. Not quite correct for some. Government pensions go in 1AL/1BL. On 2047 Section 1 you should add private+OAP and Government pensions together and declare them, ticking Public if there is Government pension and prive if there is OAP etc.. However as far as I am aware, those figures are not transferred anywhere as one year I made a mistake on 2047 and the figures were not the same as on those on 2042. Like most figures on 2047, they are only their as an aid to calculating the few results which are transferred to 2042 and actually used to calculate the tax liability. I suspect 2047 is only really reviewed if there is something significant the tax office wants to check.
  4. 2OP is a bit more complicated than just the standard scales or fixed rate of tax. If you opt for the tax scales by ticking 2OP you get a 40% discount on dividend income for both the tax and social charge (but not interest income) whereas with the fixed rate (12.8%) you don't. But, unless you are in the 30% band, ticking 2OP will probably be the correct choice. You need to report more than just foreign bank accounts on form 3916. It is for all cash and investment accounts so includes life insurance, National Savings, money transfer accounts, self-administered private pensions, etc. even if they have a zero balance. You also need to use the form to indicate you have closed an account. There is more on coverage in the notes which go with 3916. This is a version in English https://www.impots.gouv.fr/portail/international-particulier/questions/declaring-foreign-bank-accounts-and-life-insurance-policies-held
  5. Is it worth worrying about? Surely the main reason for form is to provide them with information they do not know. And if they'd filled it in and you thought it was incorrect you wouldn't have any way to correct it. I'd just complete the rest of the form and wait to see how they then put all the information they have together. At that point you can raise a dispute, if necessary.
  6. nomoss quoted idun" ................ Re the french tax office, if you usually do it online, then do it online. If you don't then why don't you email the french tax office in France and ask them to send a paper return to you in the UK. ........................................... " nomoss wrote: If you have to make a paper return you can download and print the forms you need from the impots web site The basic cerfa 2042K form is not yet available online. Only the supplementary forms. They are saving paper by only sending out the 2042K to those who completed a paper form last year. For everyone who completed their tax online they are not sending out forms. However, it is possible 2042K may be online from the beginning of May.
  7. nomoss: Chessie said both keys were lost, so, if needed, there won't be a transponder. That was why I said "Unfortunately, if the keys are the transponder electronic type it is possible the whole system in the car will need to be reprogrammed or replaced" earlier. You now seem to be agreeing with me.
  8. Have you checked you car insurance to see if you are covered? Unfortunately, if the keys are the transponder electronic type it is possible the whole system in the car will need to be reprogrammed or replaced.
  9. Is there anything in particular you want to know about? I use the UK Monzo and Revolut for internet only banking, mainly just for ordering online. Although I have used the cards when paying small amounts in various countries. I don't use them for full banking and usually only keep a balance of about £250. I use Revolut for currency transfers from UK to France (usually £500-1000 to top-up my French account for special purchases). The Revolut exchange for most currencies on weekdays (Mon-Fri) are at the instantaneous interbank exchange rate. The last couple of transfers I've done only took a day in total. A transfer from my Lloyds account to Revolut, conversion by Revolut into euro and then the transfer to Boursorama I've not had problems with either. You will see complaints on the internet but I don't think they are probably really worse than any other bank. Monzo has a UK banking licence. Revolut has a European licence through Lithuania and I think has now applied for a UK banking licence. .
  10. And if we've had weeks of solid rain I think everyone would feel very different. Apart from a couple of days my solar panels have been very productive. But now the veg patch needs water, so hopefully the rain forecast here for the end of the month will materialise?
  11. The cause of death seems to be being reported in different ways in different countries, especially if there has been no test post mortem. There seems to be little information on overall year-on-year death rates. E.g.significant changes from figures for 2019 and 2020 could be put down to covid-19 and would reduce the differences in reporting methods of different countries.
  12. Have you tried asking for a small quantity of yeast at a boulangerie or a supermarket bread counter? I remember getting some live yeast from a block for free that way a long time ago. I've just looked at my local supermarket online and they sell packs containing 3/6 7g sachets of levure du boulanger (dried yeast) for 0.86/1.39€ A sachet is enough for 500g flour.
  13. For those who don't know, the application for using your Windows/Mac/Linux computer can be downloaded from https://foldingathome.org
  14. Smile, bread-making is child's play. A chef at one of our favourite restaurants shows his daughter part one https://fr-fr.facebook.com/RestaurantLimprimerie/videos/546722889558893/ part two https://fr-fr.facebook.com/RestaurantLimprimerie/videos/206895657292659/ (you don't need a Facebook account to view these two videos)
  15. It works as long as you zoom to the point were it shows individual town streets rather than just main roads. There is the option to report errors/changed opening hours if you click in an individual shop.
  16. There is a comprehensive guide here https://www.french-property.com/guides/france/finance-taxation/taxation/ The 30% tax you mentioned for investment income comprises two components, income tax at 12.8% and social charges at 17.2% Those social charges are part of general taxation and do not cover health service/social security benefits. You will need to pay into Protection Universelle Maladie (PUMA) for that https://www.french-property.com/guides/france/public-services/health/system-overview/ I think it is 6.5% on investment income over €20,000.
  17. Our recent Siemens dishwasher came with a kit containing free samples of tablets, softener, etc. but also a few colour-changing strips which could be used to check the water hardness. You can buy kits - just search for "test de l'eau de dureté" e.g. From Amazon https://tinyurl.com/qqcxpjz (the cheapest will be from China and could take a month or two to arrive)
  18. Hidden in this: Participation à des missions d’intérêt général sur demande de l’autorité administrative / participation to general interest missions commissionned by an administrative authority
  19. This animal welfare site says The walks must be brief and take place near your home (not more than 500 meters). It is forbidden to walk the dog in a group. Only one adult per outing is allowed. There are other recommendations as well. Don't forget your certificate and respect the other general conditions. https://wamiz.com/chiens/conseil/coronavirus-promener-chien-prendre-risque-17272.htmll
  20. NormanH wrote: I am not sure if this has ever been tested in French law What do you think hasn't been tested? The EU Succession Regulation itself or something more specific? There is already some confirming ECJ case law as detailed in the links.
  21. If I understand correctly from the articles below, there is no change as a result of Brexit. If you are resident in France you can opt to have your succession according to English/Welsh or Scottish law (there is no UK law). However, the inheritance will still be taxed according to the French inheritance rules. https://www.vwv.co.uk/news-and-events/blog/private-client-law-brief/eu-succession-regulation-recent-developments and https://www.taylorvinters.com/article/will-the-eu-succession-regulation-brussels-iv-affect-your-estate-even-after-brexit
  22. It seems hotels are not included so can remain open apart from their restaurants/bars. However they are still allowed to deliver food as room service. Will that work for breakfast in a large hotel? I'm also not sure hotels will be putting in place additional cleaning to ensure guests don't catch the virus from surfaces touched by previous occupants?
  23. Have you reread the replies you got when you posed a very similar question October last year?http://services.completefrance.com/forums/completefrance-forums/cs/forums/3670693/ShowPost.aspx Why not just pay for someone to do the work and recoup your expenses through future lets?
  24. Agirc Arrco give 0 820 200 189 as a contact number which is a premium number. If you can, it might be worth getting a 2€/month Free SIM (or similar) for a mobile phone. I think you could then call any French number from the UK. I assume you have have seen the answer in this web page https://lesexpertsretraite.agirc-arrco.fr/questions/1770851-appeler-etranger
