We have no Fosse Septique just a cistern in the garden
Alex H replied to seashells's topic in House Renovations
We have a similar problem in that our land is across a small lane and at a higher level than the house. There are solutions out there such as http://www.europipes.co.uk/tplant.htm or the more famous (at least in the UK) http://www.klargester.com/products/treatment_systems/ But as Nick says, contacting your local expert is the best place to start -

Thanks for that tenniswitch. Our house was inhabited before we bought it, but in the 3 years since we purchased, we have only had fonciere demands. Perhaps I should tell the authorities [8-)]

How can it be generated by a tax return? If I have a maison secondaire, do I not pay habitation tax? (UK resident)

It's quite clever, but a pity the author did not check his / her facts before sending, reinforcing the urban myth is something we can do without [:@] Checkout http://www.lectlaw.com/files/cur78.htm

So Brackets first 12 divided by 6 = 2 OK so far Next the addition so 2 + 4 = 6 Nope - its -2 + 4 = +2 Then the subtraction So 40 - 6 = 32 No again [:(] So 40 + 2 = 42 -

TreizeVents - the sign reads 'Col des Goules Altitude 997m' its somewhere in the Auvergne [:D] I think what I'm really trying to say is if you want to take photos, then get a decent camera which will give you good results, not a cheap one which will not and possibly put you in a 'difficult 'position because of its limitations. I suppose if you have seen the tour many times then the option not to take photos is there. This was the first time I had seen it live, so there was no way I would not have taken any. By the way when the peleton went past, I got one really good shot and then the autofocus couldn't keep up with the sea of helmets [:D]

Is that why the flies in our kitchen are always on the fridge?[:D]

I'm a bit late to this thread as I was in France for all of July [:D] I disagree with a couple of the comments about not taking photos. Providing you have a decent camera there should be no reason not to get good quality photos without endangering anyone (including yourself) These were all taken from the roadside (behind the white line) with a Nikon D50 and zoom telephoto Right to left Laurent Lefevre, Sandy Casar, Michael Boogerd and Axel Merckx 17 minutes ahead of the peloton with 24km to Angouleme The Euskatel team on the front of the peloton

Lightning Strike
Alex H replied to Pushkin's topic in French Satellite TV, French Internet and Telephone
The problem is not lightning hitting the house but affecting the overhead telephone lines. Surge protectors are the best option here In the UK 'most' phone lines are underground, so not affected Checkout http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,1155239,00.asp for more info -
Bondex - comes in a range of shades including 'rustic oak' which I have used here http://www.alenda.freeserve.co.uk/house14_7.html It also did the front and end door in the previous photos A bit thin to work with, it will eventually cover paint - 3 coats covered this http://www.alenda.freeserve.co.uk/house_first_4.html on some of the beams [:D]

Is this normal? I thought owls were nocturnal. This one is over 30m away, hence the grainy photo, but thats as close as it would let me get [:)]
