1. I have a house within a barn. Unfortunately, the two are not seperated as can be seen below. It is my intention to build a wall from where the ladders are leaning, across the barn to where I am taking the photo. As this will seperate warm from sometimes bl%%*y freezing, what is the best method of  construction to ensure maximum thermal efficiency?
  2. Usually marked by a triangle with the height in metres next to it (black print) I can't see any blue numbers
  3. Someone must have fixed it !  [:D]
  4. This may help http://www.completefrance.com/cs/forums/991324/ShowPost.aspx
  5.
Yes, thanks, I get that when it is sectioning the text of the quote or quoting several times the same post.  But I thought I'd seen several different posts quoted at the same time in the same post, but maybe I hadn't.   [8-)]
You mean like this;
Yes, thanks, I get that when it is sectioning the text of the quote or quoting several times the same post.  But I thought I'd seen several different posts quoted at the same time in the same post, but maybe I hadn't.   [8-)]
and of course there is the opportunity for mischief; [:D]
I really don't understand this at all [8-)]
6.
Tell me Saligobay, how do you do double quotes?  I don't know how to do that.  When you quote someone just their quote comes out, but how do you get a second one in the same post?  I've seen it done before and often wondered.   [:)]

Tell me Saligobay, how do you do double quotes?  I don't know how to do that.  When you quote someone just their quote comes out, but how do you get a second one in the same post?  I've seen it done before and often wondered.   [:)]

Tell me Saligobay, how do you do double quotes?  I don't know how to do that.  When you quote someone just their quote comes out, but how do you get a second one in the same post?  I've seen it done before and often wondered.   [:)]
Just cut and paste the HTML quote code ( the first and last lines of the text after you hit the quote button) and put the relevant text in between. Simple eh? [:)]
  7. Try it. The worst that should happen is the moderators will 'edit' your post [:)]
  8. My neighbour shoots them - seems a more humane method than either of your options Anyone you know could do this for you?
  9. Our house is in the south of the department near St Junien. I agree with all that has been said before especially the comments on the weather. It is very variable - when the heating engineer was installing our hot water system in Feb 2007 the temperature in the barn was -4C - he sent me a photo of our thermometer [:)] We visited last in April this year and on one day the temperature in front of the house was 22C in the shade. If you don't want it too hot then I suggest further north, but always below the Loire - that seems to be the break point for the sunshine[:D] Above that and its just like living in southern England. Late Addition: If you really like the location, why not try to ensure your property has somewhere with shade, pergola, canopy or some such so you can be outside when its really hot?
  10.
If the car is insured, taxed etc and the insurance coy is aware that it going to be in France for 7 months the I cannot see any problem.
But the insurance company is not aware:
Anyone have any experience of a company UK or French that allows several months out of the country?
11.
Haute Vienne is a nice part of France, more picturesque than surrounding departments (except Dordogne, in my opinion).
Not at all biased then [:D][:D][:D]
  12. My car is insured via the "What Car?" website - courtesy of Liverpool Victoria and allows foreign use (within the EU) if the car is registered in the UK and "is not kept abroad for more than 180 consecutive days" Your interpretation of this may vary with the company's [:D]

  16. You can hire trailers as well [:D] My sister did this to move kitchen units & sofas to their house.
  17.
I';ve probably got a problem with the earth. Could I fix that easilt? Is it a big deal to connect the unit to the main supply?
If you don't know the answers to these questions, then should you be replacing a consumer unit ? [8-)]
  18. It works for me, but I wish I hadn't bothered [:D] The film is very disjointed, the photography is good but the voiceover.......... well, if you can't say anything good, etc. I also HATE web pages with music attached [:@]

  21.
2. Check for yourself exactly what you are buying and whether this ties up with the cadastre (this should now be possible via the net).
Sounds useful - where exactly - do you have a link?

    loaf tin liners
Alex - yes they are to line baking tins. I make bread which tends to stick to the tins when you bake it.
You make sticky bread then [:)]  (I make bread myself and use non stick tins)
