  1. Yes, annoys the hell out of me. In most cases, when I see this on a label, there is no information as to where the contents of the package came from. Of course, I do care where the package holding the contents was made or where the contents are stuffed into the container, but the actual source/location of the contents itself is even more important (to me). SOL there, it ain't noted.
  2. We went a few years ago and loved it also. I was surprised at how easy it was driving in the center of town.
  3. Agree with menthe. We've only been in the Dordogne for 14 months now, but we are amazed, on a daily basis, how friendly folks are here. It was NOTHING LIKE THIS in the Vaucluse and certainly not in Paris (no shock there). Quite the opposite actually. Very happy here so far.
  4. It was 18 here yesterday. Pretty much the same today. I expect there will be more of old man Winter yet to come. This really messes with everything.
  5. Saw that. Sadly, we very rarely buy any unpasteurised cheese. There are many we really like but there are just too many recalls. I've said it before, I check this govt recall site every single day as there are so many recalled products to look out for. And it isn't the be all end all in recall sites. https://rappel.conso.gouv.fr/ Also stopped eating raw oysters (and I love them). Too many risks.
  6. Crazy. Don't they realize, as noted in the video, the Police can easily see it is a fake ? Dumb move. That link leads to this link. There are a lot of crazy people on the roads. It most definitely isn't easy, but it isn't impossible. You can't give up. You have to follow through the process.
  7. I don't think that would be easy. At least not these days. They check all kinds of ID and ask for all sorts of proof. I guess where there is a will there is a way.
  8. Ain't that the truth ! I have no idea HOW they passed the French practical driving test.
  9. It is also recommended usage in the Code de la Route. As I just passed my written test, the question about when to use your hazard lights (as noted above) is one of the possible questions.
  10. You're my kinda girl Menthe ! That is exactly what I would have done. 😀
  11. Same here Menthe, but the high temp is calling for 10 degrees, so still not really Winter (to me).
  12. True, but look what they did to him. Making nearly every move he made impossible. Trump is still saying he'd get rid of Obamacare.
  13. Nah, old, white men have been running the U.S. since the dawn of time.
  14. Being American, I'm left with no choice. I have to vote for a half dead man to attempt to keep a total lunatic out of the White House. Happy ... NO.
  15. Yes, the house we bought here in the Dordogne would have sold for a MINIMUM of 500,000€ in the Vaucluse (where we were initial looking in 2021/2022). Once we finish all the work here, it would sell for a minimum of 700,000€ in the Vaucluse. Can't address the work or schooling issue, but no one complains about either here so far. Most complain about having TOO much work. There seems to be a lot of extra-curricular activities for school kids. I see all the info in our weekly/monthly/quarterly newsletters. Husband is amazed that there is a very good tennis club within 3 kms of the house (we live in a fairly rural area) with indoor and outdoor courts. Plus the other neighboring towns have very active tennis clubs. So, he signs up for endless tennis tournaments all around the area, all year round. I thought you weren't going to stay in France?
  16. I saw that house on the market. I think its been on the market for a while. I actually think it is overpriced. However, if you have a budget of 500,000€ you should be able to find something quite nice in the Dordogne. I don't know why prices are lower here than many other areas of France. We did a good bit of research on different regions of France before we bought here (in the Dordogne) and yes, it seem you can get more for your money here. There were a few other regions that had similar prices, but the weather was a drawback and the areas didn't seem as attractive. Be careful here regarding medical care. We found it almost impossible to find doctors/dentists/GYN's that will accept new patients. I still haven't found a GYN within a 1.5 hour drive that is taking new patients.
  17. Agree 1000%. We now buy from our local butcher in our tiny town. His sources are made very clear and his products are some of the best I have ever tasted. It helps that his prices are incredibly competitive. He just opened shop last April, so I do hope he stays.
  18. Yep, unable to connect yesterday. No indication, at the time, as to why.
  19. I'll add to ALBF's comment about the budget. I have never seen any property in the towns (or near them) the OP has mentioned at 80k€ Even in very rural areas, that would be a tough budget and, if found, would likely be a pile of rocks (figure of speech). Have a look on the usual sites: seloger, leboncoin, etc. Also, be careful on any site if you see something that seems too good to be true. These sites get hijacked often.
  20. Hard for me to figure out how ANYONE could think a chateau would not be a money pit. Wouldn't consider it.
