Suitable area of the Gironde

We have been searching for a property in the north of the Gironde and have found a property we like located between La reole and Monsegur.  Before we commit to buy we would like to find out more about this area.  We have looked at facilities in the area but would like to know more “insider” detail.  Can anyone help with this please

Hi, not sure what kind of insider information you wanted. But we've been living in the area for the last 2.5 years. We've settled in well and really like the area. It's ideally located for both Bergerac and Bordeaux so you can take advantage of airports, shopping etc. It's also close enough for a day at the coast, there are also a few big lakes around as well. We have children and they make the most of local horse riding, football and all other kinds of sport facilities. There's also the usual walks in the sticks and along the canal in Fontet. Monsegur has it's own cinema, albeit in French. There are quite a few Brits around if you want the ease of speaking English, but also the French are really welcoming as well. Generally a pretty good area. If you want more specific information just let me know. Hope it helps.

We like the area but slightly put off by the Nuclear power station nearby.

ok we looked in the gironde lovely place the power station kept me thinking of the readybrek kids adverts and every property we looked at had termites somewhere

My brother and his wife have retired to the Gironde area, and have found it very welcoming and have settled in very well, they are both very pleased with their decision to live there.
