Would it be possible to have a single button click to identify who is currently online ?
But, who really cares???
>deleted<

Edit - that now doesn't make sense, but Zeb's post contained a quote which came up with loads of HTML gobbledegook on my screen -

<BLOCKQUOTE><table width="85%"><tr><td

class="txt4"><img

src="/cs/Themes/default/images/icon-quote.gif">&nbsp;<strong>Bugbear

wrote:</strong></td></tr><tr><td

class="quoteTable"><table width="100%"><tr><td

width="100%" valign="top" class="txt4">Would it be possible to have

a single button click to identify who is currently online

?</td></tr></table></td></tr></table></BLOCKQUOTE>

but when I quoted it, it all sorted itself out! This forum software is just plain odd.

Did you eat the chalk, Dick?

We had a geography teacher who used to consume at least three or four sticks per lesson. (Sorry, just got back from an old school association committee meeting, held in the staff room of my old school, and that brings back all sorts of memories).

No, I gave some to the family, we were very poor...

I used to like the non-dustless, you got a much better line on the board. My board was always dark green, and the most effective chalk was pink, then green. Now it's all digital. Certainly nothing to eat - what an odd thing to do, though I suppose it might counteract noxious school dinners or surreptitious drinking, two features of the 'old' profession.

He (Mr Birks) was one of the more normal teachers I think. The fruitcake award went to Mr Bennett, our Latin teacher. He had very many eccentricities, the most repeatable of which was the fact that he kept his handerchief in his mouth. Which didn't help his verbal delivery very much. It wasn't until he died, well into his 90s a couple of years back, that we found out his real forename was Gordon (we always knew him as Fred). But in spite of all that he was a brilliant teacher.

Makes teaching in a burqa sound positively tame!

We had a blind English teacher, a Latin teacher who had once bowled for Australia (or possibly in Australia) and preferred to talk about that, and Maxy, who used to tuck his jumper into his trousers and wear his tie outside of it. He used to sleep through most of the afternoon after imbibing a heavy (mild and bitter, allegedly) lunch. Not to mention Erection Evans - but I won't go there.

So what do teachers throw at the kids if the chalkboard rubber is now defunct ?

I got banned for an afternoon after cockily heading one coming my way from Barrett the mutton  music teacher. It hurt but by golly it looked good flying out the same window that a mate had just dived out of and in to the laurel bush [:)]
