Evianers Posted January 27, 2014 Share Posted January 27, 2014 Yesterday we attended the first of hopefully many free annual lunches offered by our local Mairie & Equipe.It was absolutely superb. There were 165 seniors there, all of whom were having an excellent time. The food was exceptional - two separate dishes of fish, one cold the other hot : veal cutlets with champignons, selection of three cheeses and large dessert. All washed down with either Cotes du Rhone or white wine. Proceedings started at 12.00 and ended at 16.40 - wonderful. Could just see the London Borough of Harrow doing something similar!! Val_2 Posted January 28, 2014 Share Posted January 28, 2014 Yes, as an élu I have been attending our communial Répas des Anciens for the past 13years now and its always a big spread lasting from noon until at least 18.30h with so much booze and repartis.The attendees must be 70years old to be eligible and their spouse if younger can come but have to pay around €32 for the meal.
