OVER-60 TRAVEL

Recommended Posts

You don't need a Carte Senior if you don't travel by train very often. The card gives you up to 50% off a the fare, but you're entitled to up to 25% off just because you are 60 or over. You only have to make sure that you enter your age in the appropriate place when you book - on line here or in the machine at the station.

The saving on one return to Paris from Languedoc will pay for a year's Carte Senior. I used to have one when I travelled down to the south a lot. Now I don't have one because I get half price deals on-line from SNCF even without the card.

You can tell the booking clerk your age and get a discount;in fact, the clerk last year asked our age, didn't want to see proof and gave us the discount.Interestingly, for the journey one way ,we got a shared ticket and back, two separate tickets.
