Stormy Skies

Recommended Posts

I guess everyone in France has had their fair share of storms recently, but the skies are worth photographing:

Some of the storms are incredible. This photo was taken in daylight, unedited and just as I managed it..

The lightening was that long lasting that I got it! What power!!!

The French say we are in for a very poor summer,

so keep your rain coats out and ready for use.

Just like the U.K.we left.

I have a confession to make.  If the summer is not too warm, it will be welcome by me.  Why? We don't have shutters,  the devis for them given to us last year was in excess of 5000 euros.

I am planing to sell therefore not going to put them in now.  Poor summer = no overheating = no need to install shutters this year = a bit of a saving = more money left in bank = can afford to buy new perhaps better house = a very happy bunny, moi!

Terribly selfish, I know, but sometimes it's difficult to put others first![I]

I have just had an e-mail from my sister in East Auzzie. They had 2 meters of rain from Jan to April and loads more in the past few weeks!

I will ask her to send some photos of their sky!!

Edit:-  Just noticed your last posting Sunin. I have a Sony DSC F717 camera. Bit bigger than the average compact, but not as expensive as an DSLR. I have had it about 6 years now and still discovering what it can do. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/SonyDSCF717/ . I like it!![:D]

You take some really good pics with it.

Mine is a Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ8.  Had it since Christmas and am still getting to grips with it.  Like you, it's larger than a compact, but is very lightweight and easy to carry around.

The original stormy skies photo at the top of this thread was taken with the "Night Portrait" setting.  The camera even has settings for food and drink photos !!!  I'm looking forward to the horse race meetings in Pompadour so I can try out the "Panning" and "Sport" settings.

No clouds to photograph today - they are all the same colour, dark grey without a break, but it is very warm and humid outside, so I expect we will have another storm this afternoon.

So much for red sky at night - photo taken 26 May -  the day after we had thunderstorms and torrential rain - it was almost worth it................
