Andymr
I have religiously treated our teak garden furniture throughout the year (4 times) with teak oil. It just does not seem to last, and I'm not skimpy with my application. I do not want to stain it just protect it from the elements. Am I using the wrong product? is this the norm for application and if so can I buy teak oil in bulk? ( I can only buy it in litre cans)
Andymr
Expected a few words of wisdom guys![:(]
cooperlola
Sorry, no wisdom in this quarter! I use teak oil once a year - but I may not be as meticulous as you. I've never found it in larger quantities than 1 litre (goodness knows what it would cost!)
Clair
I have no obvious suggestion to make.We do ours twice a year: once before the winter and once again before the heat of the summer, using any teak oil or similar product that I find on promo in the brico shops: a light sanding and a coat of oil, leave to absorb, that's it...Does your wood furniture rest on wet on damp ground or grass? Are the feet protected?

Cassis
We treat ours once year at the start of the summer with one of the proprietary Brico teak + preservative mixes. I would not worry about it going pale and grey over the summer. And never ask a man in a Brico shed for preservative.

Chris Head
Andy, I personally wouldn't bother, the timber will outlast us all....or you'll get so bored with looking at the thing in years to come that you'll chuck it out and change it anyway! Cassis
I think treating teak and other hardwoods is a bit like putting on makeup, Chris. Purely cosmetic but if you like a bit of slap ...
Chris Head
Depends who's doing the slapping I guess Cass, I wouldn't mess with some of the wenches here, that's for sure!
