Thank you ladies. I like it too! The wood is cherry and it took about 4 hours but most of that was waiting for the glue to dry. The young girl who recieved it thought it was lovely and even gave us a small concert. She is a very good violinist! We had a lovely meal and evening. We are very lucky and have some lovely French neibours...

I have made quite a few of boxes similar to that and even more money boxes using the same method. This one was made as a present for a friend of ours.

I think that I have made almost all of the letters of the alphabet now. I am always making all sorts of things that either take my fancy or people ask for. It's a lovely way to spend my life as far as I'm concerned and it beats the hell out of working for a living![:D]

I love turning and pyragrophy too...

Je peux te bien expliquer JJ. It's just friggin dangerous, unless you get the timber rotating away from you and a saw that isn't equipped with one of those silly diy chains that bounce around...and use areas of the bar and chain that don't compromise safety, difficult to explain. In truth, it's exciting but chisels are a whole lot safer and more accurate, I'm just a nutter who knows saws.

  • 1 month later...

I was thinking about him at the beginning of the week too.

Do you remember his request for books a few months back?  Well I sent him one at the beginning of October and haven't heard a pip from him.  I do hope he's okay.  Meg normally has news from him - maybe she can give us news of his well being?

I'm not sure that I got a response or acknowledgement after sending my books Twinkle.

I thought that it was a bit odd because only a few days before he had been in contact to explain that he had been discharged from the hospital earlier than expected and to send the books to another address.

He had thanked me in advance so there was no reason to acknowledge the delivery but I wonder..........
