Have lost a big filling and pain is intense !!! We don't go back to the UK for 4 weeks. I have my EHIC card for our temporary stay while in France. Urgently need to see a dentist, Will my EHIC card cover me ?? How do i go about finding an english speaking dentist in dept 87 (near Bellac 87290) Any help or points in the right direction very very gratefully received !!!! Thanks Mel. Any dentist worth his salt will probably spot the missing filling.If your french is poor you can always point, draw pictures and gesticulate, you'll get there. connolls Posted July 1, 2009 Author Share Posted July 1, 2009 Hi Kevinmc,Well, given that for me any dental experience has got to be one of my nightmares this was almost a dream !!The dentist was friendly and we managed to do it all in my pidgeon french and his very much better english. Diagnosis of a lost root filling and an extensive infection which had spead to the jaw. Lots of pain relief (injection form) then extensive proding poking and drilling a little pain (inevitable I suppose) temperary filling was in and another date set for next week. Px given for antibiotics and more pain relief (at a bargsin price of 5 euro 20 cents !!!!!!)He said no bill until the job was done and I was happy. Don't care how much the final bill is (although he estimates about 50-60 euros) I'm one happy forum user ! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Chancer Posted July 1, 2009 Share Posted July 1, 2009 If you have a French bank account then take the feuilles de soin to your local social security office together with your EHIC and they will process it for you and with any luck within a couple of months you will find that you have received around 70% credited direct to your bank.I believe that in principal you could do the same thing in the UK by sending it off to Newcastle (I think) but I dont know if in practice it actually would work for dental treatment that costs less than it would on the NHS.Some of the dentists around Calais have a high proportion of "dental health tourists".
