Hi All

Have some items for sale so thought of the D.V as a solution.

Can anyone give me an idea of how they work, do they price the item and take their cut?

Some will buy out right. Others agree the price an item will sell for and agree to pay you a percentage of that price when it sells. Others have a similar arrangement but with regular reductions in price over the comming months.

Someone mentioned them to me when we were furnishing our apartment. The two I looked at both quoted a price and based  their percentage on that. One seemed happy to keep things for a long time, reducing the price as and when; the other only kept things for a certain period, and obviously wanted to keep new stock coming in; you then had to remove all unsold items.

As it happened we didn't use them, but enjoyed browsing their websites.

The Depot- Vente we used charges a commission of 30%. They agree a selling price with you,then each month if it doesn't sell will reduce the price by 20%. You can remove the item at no charge after one month. Basically after 5 months if the item hasn't sold or been reclaimed it becomes theirs. I believe the charges are fixed by law.

It's free and I ve sold several things on there.

Basically you don't need a pic, but it is proved to sell better if there is one.
