Base for Gravel Driveway

Hello
Can anybody help with the french term equivalent to Type 1, MOT, or scalpings to be used as a base for a gravel drive.

Decorative gravel will be laid over the base, but before I go to the quarry it would be useful to have some idea of what to ask for.

Many thanks
Paul

Hi Paul,

Make sure that the gravel for your drive is not as small as ours is. It sticks in the treads of your shoes, your car fills up with it and it a PAIN. We have a 60 yard drive and a largish parking area at the top of it and if we had out way it would go and at least bigger stones put down, but it was here when we bought the house. It's wonderful for our terra cotta floor tiles too. It puts nice deep scratches in them so that you don't slip when it's wet?????

Good luck,

John.

Ooooooh don't it's like fingernails down a blackboard [:-))] we just invested in a good bristly doormat to try and stop that happening.... as long as we remember to scrub our feet everytime we go indoors [:D]

One good thing about all the doors in our house is that they have lift off hinges, so I lifted them off and put small washers on the pins. Now the doors are that little bit higher off the tiles and the screech doesn't happen 1/2 as often. Can't lift them too high though or they foul the top of the frame and screech (more quietly) on that...

John.
