1. I bought a set of genuine Jaguar plastic covers with built in deflectors and all they did was block the light! so got rid of those and got some standard clear headlight protectors and stuck Eurolight converters on... much better . Takes a few seconds to swap them over at the port
 2. Why did my post come out like that????
 3.
When I was at secondary school we boys should have been taught self-defence as our teachers had their individual preferred weapons and were not in the least bit afraid to use them. Bunsen burner rubber hose with a piece of chalk at the business end. Size 12 plimsoll. Blackboard eraser re-inforced with a block of wood. You had to admire his accuracy when it was thrown! Assortment of canes for the ones with a lack of imagination. The maths master used his blackboard wooden thing with a spike at one end, is it called "a pair of compasses"? He must have been a bit of a wimp though as he never used the spike part. Our gardening master had a sense of humour, as he used his wooden dibber, telling us that he had made it when he was our age. I don't recall any boy stupid enough to show violence to any teacher.
We had most of those plus the woodwork teacher had a 3ft length of 2x2 hardwood called "The Persuader" it persuaded you to plane down to a line not plane the line off, the physics teacher used an old billiard cue across the hand even being sacked from his previous school for breaking a lad's wrist didn't stop him using it and the Technical Drawing teacher had a huge plimsoll called "Big Jim" or he used the edge of a ruler across the back of the knuckles...ouch!!! the chemistry teacher would make you stand with your arms outstretched or holding an old penny between the tips of your middle fingers above your head
Tegwini wrote, " What a change- violence not at all unknown in secondary schools these days. " Maybe this is something to do with our parents attitude to discipline, anybody touches todays little darlings and their parents can't get to their solicitors quick enough. If I complained to my Dad that I had been chastised by a teacher, my Dad said "you probably deserved it" and he was right.
Oh boy going home and complaining would just get you another whack in our house
 4. I bought one in Brico Depot recently which as far as I can see is purely electric (towel rail type) and this came with a plug in the top and a seperate air bleed valve to replace it with once installed it was also ready filled with anti corrosion stuff [:)]
 5. A copy of this post has been moved to the lounge section so that there can be a seperate discussion for SK books.
 6.
Hi Ho silver lining - was that Jeff Beck?
It was indeed [:D] I remember back in the early 70's playing in covers bands you HAD to do Hi Ho Silver Lining, Brown Sugar, Alright Now. Honky Tonk Women and a few others otherwise....... you didn't get re-booked[:D]
 7.

As I was the only person to post about not liking football at the time you posted it don't take a genius of your stature to work it out, but you do rise to the bait soooo easily [:-))] Glad to hear you like music as I said I don't know you , you don't know me [;-)]
Eh, are you on something Bassman ? I'm afraid that winding up is something quite different to what you can manage
So on my way through St.Malo on Saturday I should look out for a place covered in flags and playing Leapy Lee at full volume then [;-)] I'll give ya a wave if I spot it [:-))
Oh please do keep driving, it's just that I know enough folks from Surrey, merci................
Oh and who mentiond GP's I said motor sport it covers a wide variety of things LOLOL
Yep sure does, and they all have one thing in common, a nerdy attitude, one look at the audience in Top Gear gives me the screaming ab dabs and the thought that I might one day trapped in a pub while they talk endlessly about double sprockets, up down valves and side winding bish boshers....[Www]
By god ya can rabbit can't ya [:D] another assumption dude I may live in Surrey but I ain't from Surrey , as you live in France does that make you French ???? and jeez I never suggested stopping  !!! wave I said   You see you think motrsport is nerdy does that make you a grumpy old man,  the world is full of people with different likes and dislikes it's what makes it work[;-)][;-)]   S' Funny as I hit the post button on my original post I thought  how long will it take Miki to make a sarky caustic coment and sure enough up you popped , now it wasn't deliberatley to wind you up but having just read your discussion with Gluestick about flags......... predictable sunbeam [;-)]   Anyway got more important things to do at the mo' like getting ready for the trip as I said if I spot ya I'll ive ya a WAVE
 8.

Hey just because I don't enjoy the same pastimes that doesn't make me a miserable old git [:-))] anyway miserable young git pleeeaase OK 50 last week [:)] Now I enjoy watching motor sport( Like I said may as well support a big business) you may hate it , I enjoy seeing live bands and playing in them you may possibly hate that too I wouldn't know as I don't know you, just like you don't know me OK,[:D] I am as entitled to my opinion as much as the next man or woman, errr I think it's called free speech innit?? Live and let live eh? resorting to name calling???
Mmm , is that guilty by association or just p*****g in the dark [:D] Grand Prix !Take it or leave it, follow me leader in recent years, change the rules to stop a German winning every year  until he  is 90 and what about Monaco? First out the trap, if engine holds up, winner, thrilling eh [:(] Oh I think you will find that music is a big and lifetimes pleasure for us, it has been recorded on here umpteen times. If you wish to be known as either a young or old grumpo, that's your judgement, the name calling was your interpretation, who it was aimed at,  was your choice as well. Me, I named no one but waited for the heads to come above the infamous parapet one down............ to go [;-)]
Well as I was the only person to post about not liking football at the time you posted it don't take a genius of your stature to work it out, but you do rise to the bait soooo easily [:-))] Glad to hear you like music as I said I don't know you , you don't know me [;-)]   So on my way through St.Malo on Saturday I should look out for a place covered in flags and playing Leapy Lee at full volume then [;-)] I'll give ya a wave if I spot it [:-))]   Oh and who mentiond GP's I said motor sport it covers a wide variety of things LOLOL
 9.
Has anyone else noticed in the last few months, just how many miserable old gits are now on the forum ? Admin, can't they have their own Victor Meldrew section. It does get me down but what does really makes me laugh, is that one can picture the sandals and sock brigade in their zipped up cardis, walking miles to save 10 centimes on a demi, uttering bonjour to everyone they pass and mistake the grimace they see on the other person as an acknowledgement and the grunt as bonjour and not the reality ( who the blinking hell was that utter twit!) Whoops nearly fell in to the same mode ! I will be watching it wherever the flags are flying and the folks are smiling, the beer cold and the support is for good old togger (and Eng-er-land in particular !) Roll on Samedi
Hey just because I don't enjoy the same pastimes as you that doesn't make me a miserable old git [:-))] anyway miserable young git pleeeaase OK 50 last week [:)] Now I enjoy watching motor sport( Like I said may as well support a big business) you may hate it , I enjoy seeing live bands and playing in them you may possibly hate that too I wouldn't know as I don't know you, just like you don't know me OK,[:D] I am as entitled to my opinion as much as the next man or woman, errr I think it's called free speech innit?? 10. Watch football[8-)][8-)] I'd rather poke my own eyes out with a pointy stick [:-))] In my teens I used to go every week home and away games.... then I grew up and realized I may as well support ICI or Smith Kline Beecham or any other big company as that is all football is about these days .....money, overpaid players who cry at the slightest injury and don't seem to actually play half the time, whats the point in supporting a team (Ok the WC is different in this respect ) where most of the players don't even come from the same country never mind the same town [8-)] Man U are a prime example where even most of the supporters aren't from Manchester, I just don't get it any more, people seem to pick a team at random or one they think stands the best chance of winning something and then support them instead of their local team [8-)]
 11.
Lucky you - in July last year I visited a friend who's house looks over the bay of Douarnenez - I'd love to live in that house
Ah yes lovely place, we took a drive out there last year and will probably do so again next week   View of the bay from the Crozon peninsula [:)]
 12.
Currently reading The Constant Gardener by John Le Carre.  Good stuff so far. .
How far have you got? I started reading that a couple of months ago and got bored [:(] I have enjoyed most of his other books but I just wasn't getting on with that one [8-)]
 13.
>>It doesn't bother me what anyone else thinks of Finistere we love it and that's all that matters<< Exactly ! I like other scenery for short periods but Brittany in general and Finistere in particular are my favorites. Each to their own [:D]
Roll on Friday when we set off for another week in Worlds End [;-)] We will try and have a holiday this time instead of working all week on the house LOL
 14.
I'm not keen on very flat landscapes either
And whatever you do stay away from Holland[:-))][;-)] It doesn't bother me what anyone else thinks of Finistere we love it and that's all that matters, I love the mountains and lakes in other dept's and the gorges and beaches in yet others but we fell in love with Finistere it suits us and would get a bit crowded if everyone felt the same [:D]
