Volet

Can anybody tell me what the term is for the Volets which fold in the middle?  Anybody bought these and know a good supplier, Sarthe/Orne preferred.

I expected them to be called Persiennes but in fact they seen to be called Volets Pliants ( assume you mean the ones which fold back into the window on door opening rather than against the wall

Ours worked fine once I had sprayed penetrating oil into the hinge pins and rerevited a couple of hinges.  No idea of make they came with the house.

The fanfold ones are called Persiennes, and if they are mounted on a frame enabling them to pivot at the top when closed, allowing a bit of air in at the bottom, tey are called Persiennes Italiennes.

If you have them in wood and they face either south or west, then make sure they are  a) well painted and  b) not left folded back for months on end or you will find the panels have swollen sufficiently to prevent them from forming a flat face again (bitter experience talking here).

Thanks for the info' everybody.  Persienne was what I had understood but didn't produce much after a google search!  Pliant worked better.

Thanks for everybody's help on this one.  Popped into Lapeyre yesterday where they had a very informative display and found just what we wanted so are now in a better position to compare prices. Cheers.
