tenniswitch Posted April 27, 2008 Share Posted April 27, 2008 I'm getting lots of conflicting advice about what to do with our parquet floors (in every room, including kitchen and baths).We have quite a variety: old pine floors, old hardwood floors (beautiful oak in 1 bedroom), new pine and new oak.I've been advised to use "parquet oil", "encaustic liquide des 3 freres" (which I can't even find by googling), paste wax, varnish, polyurethane. I just want the floors to look like nicely-cared-for old floors (and to survive the inevitable splashes and spills in the kitchen and baths).Help from some of you experienced renovators would certainly be appreciated. clarksinfrance Posted April 29, 2008 Share Posted April 29, 2008 Cork varnish works a treat, ( if you can find any) penetrates into the wood, leaves a hint of a sheen, and is waterproof, and because it sinks in, the wood doesn't become lethal when wet.
