chirpy Posted September 23, 2010 Share Posted September 23, 2010 Hi,I have a Scholtes gas hob using bottle gas.one of the 5 burners will not lght when i pree knob down no spark..Question ...do the ceramic igniters just screw out? or can you suggest wha is causing problem.Wife doesnot like using a match....but I do not want t pay unnecessary trip out for a service man ,if possible. Anton Redman II Posted September 23, 2010 Share Posted September 23, 2010 Possible causes gap too big, gap bridged by grease or water, burner cap in wrong position after cleaning or wire disconnected or broken. The little igniter wire sticking out of the ceramic insulator has completely burned away, can't see any way of removing/replacing it so I use matches.This is not a problem for me as I always like playing with fire [:-))] Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
YCCMB Posted September 23, 2010 Share Posted September 23, 2010 We've had the same problem with our (inherited) hob since we bought our French house....and I concur with ClarkKent.
