Kelly
Hi, I've just had a new chauffe-eau fitted, bought from Leroy merlin 150 litre, and I can't see a thermosat to change the temperture which is too hot. I've taken the plastic casing from underneath, but can't see anything there. many thanks
Théière
Could it be a factory set thermostat hence no user adjustment. Yes 60 degrees is pretty hot but that's the french standard to kill bacteria as there isn't any copper pipework or cylinder to do the same. To reduce the temperature you really need to fit a mixer valve which is pre set usually at a maximum of 41 deg.
Chrissie
We had the same thing - were told that it is pre-set to combat Legionaire's disease etc. A mixer tap on each bath/sink etc is therefore an absolute must.....Chrissie (81)
PaulT
Yes, it is set at the minimum needed to prevent bacteria growing and should therefore not be tampered with trying to reduce the temperature. As has been said, mixer valves at the outlets is the way to go - or just turn on the hot and cold taps.Paul
AnOther
I believe that according to current regulations a new or replacement chauffe eau should be fitted with a Mitigeur Thermostatique to regulate the temperature to 50c max.
