1. Oh GG, I'm shocked![:D]  How could any right-thinking soul reject Marmite![8-)]  How'd you feel about tinned Baked Beanz (with and without sausages)?   Or tinned sardines on toast?[+o(]
2. Mickie wrote;
Now if the Climate Changers are indeed proved right (And so far their early forecasts have been all wrong!), we'll all be dead so what?
My guess is Mickie...you don't work in advertising....[:D]  Joking apart though, I guess some folk really care whether they (and their friends and families) are dead or alive.  It really is an issue for them.  I imagine they would be reluctant to take advice from someone on a subject as potentially serious as this, who didn't view the survival of the human race as pretty jolly important.  But that's just my opinion and it'll prolly be proved wrong in the end![:D]
3. Calm down Mickie!  No need to get so stressed!  If these theories about climate change are eventually found to be incorrect what's the worst that can happen?  More tax paid by some, maybe a little less pollution, maybe (as Quillan suggested,) oil supplies will last a bit longer.  However, if the "Climate Changers" ([8-)]) prove to be correct... Well, even those who have the right to say "I told you so", will have more pressing concerns.  So, I guess, if anyone has a right to get snarky, it's those who think we're heading for complete destruction and instead of doing something about it, many people are just whinging about money, joking about suntans.  Fiddling while Rome burns I suppose...[:D]
4. Oddly enough, I was talking about mushy peas to someone yesterday (who hates them almost as much as I do).  We came to the conclusion that they are probably one of those things you need to be fed from an early age to truly appreciate (like Marmite - yum, and liver - yuKK!!!).[:D]
5. Virtually all of the guttering in my village (and surrounding villages) in the Corbieres is attached with something like the Crochet Negre 88 shown here; http://www.quincaillerie-angles.fr/CLIENT/index.php?menu=1&arbo_ID=338  Although mine are older and more solid looking.  As you can see, the crochets are attached to the tiles rather than to a wall or fascia board.  I helped with the clear-up after the Tempete last year and can report that no gutters fell here - although quite a few roof tiles were dislodged on some buildings.  I have also seen the pompiers in attendance at a barn here with guttering like that.  There were no complaints from them.  If you're worried obviously, look into it further, there may be different rules (or application of them) in different areas.
6. Not sure they'd plump for that option PD.  Not enough outright kills - and who wants a lot of walking ghosts running around in a bad temper?  Safer and easier I would think to go down the thermobaric route.  Already practiced in Chechnya and Afghanistan to name just two places where some would wish to reduce the population drastically.[+o(]

8. I am sorry Chessie!  I think if you read your post again you will understand why I misunderstood what you said.  It was wrong of me to imply that you were just making a racist remark.
9. Well said Sweet!  I would just like to add that I was born a third generation immigrant.  I lost my Country, home, friends, pets, possessions, in fact, just about everything I knew and held dear because some people thought I was the wrong colour.  The experience was extremely unpleasant.  I would never wish others to have it.  It makes my blood boil when I hear the kind of fatuous guff posted here about sending anyone back where they "belong".  Why don't you get up off your behinds and do something good for the world instead!?
10. Odd isn't it Chessie, that you wrote; " An Aetheist living in France would, I am sure, have real problems with the 'Religioust Flim Flam' around the place.   All the statues in the villages to this Woman in a Blue Cloak, or to that Cross or Crucifix or that Man hanging on a Cross.   I find it offensive to see such things in towns and countries - they are obvious signs of religious brain-washing.", but you also say you wish to protect British values which you interpret as those of a "WHITE CHRISTIAN COUNTRY".  I think you should cut to the chase - you admit you are offended by Christian symbols - surely it would be more honest of you to write "A WHITE COUNTRY"?
11. Not deliberately naive at all tj!  I  love the English language (and I find painful to see it so ill-used and mistreated - especially by a purported upholder of all things truly British!).  Here are a string of English words (put together in 1775ish) which you may care to consider; "A man sometimes starts up a patriot, only by disseminating discontent, and propagating reports of secret influence, of dangerous counsels, of violated rights, and encroaching usurpation. This practice is no certain note of patriotism. To instigate the populace with rage beyond the provocation, is to suspend publick happiness, if not to destroy it. He is no lover of his country, that unnecessarily disturbs its peace. Few errours and few faults of government, can justify an appeal to the rabble; who ought not to judge of what they cannot understand, and whose opinions are not propagated by reason, but caught by contagion." As a member of the rabble, I heartily concur with that sentiment.[:)]
12.
BNP, unfortunately, with all the bad press a rather unpopular party with many, that is not to say there is anything wrong with a Nationalist party. So are you trying to say its not among the reasons why some people would like to get out of UK, or a reason why many already have, ? i have met and spoken with many expats over the last 10 years since I left and unfortunately it is factor. As an immigrant myself, as you point out, I think its rather a long stretch to compare my migration to that of the typical immigrant to UK.
I'm sorry tj, I afraid I can't see how that answers the question - unless you mean that the British Army should be fighting the BNP?  And, until you make it clear just who you think the "enemy" is, I don't see how anyone can discuss the matter with any clarity.
13.
Hi Our native country is under ever increasing occupation, this does not have to mean a military force! And is one reason why many have left and many more would like to!
So answer the question; Who should they fight?  Who is occupying Britain?  How can you suggest sending British soldiers to fight on your behalf when you don't even have the balls to say who they should be fighting?  Damned disgrace indeed!  Either put up or shut up as they say.
14. tj sed;
They should send them to UK and start to fight for the return of our own country.....
Who do you propose they fight?[8-)]
15. Mickie wrote;
Here is a useful site which denies climate change is caused by man and carbon.
Thanks for that Mickie, I'm definitely gonna use it when the tsunami/flood/drought/famine comes for me....[:D]
16. Nice 'drop Âme!  I do hope that we don't have any chilliness here though - my woodpile isn't huge, my irises are sprouting, my citronnier is thriving, my strawberries are flowering and my neighbour has apple buds unfurling as I type...[:D]
17. Don't be so "cup-half-empty" Richard!  Maybe you are being rewarded...maybe you get to live and keep one of these for a bit... [:D]
18. Teggers wrote;
Interesting that Gore is a US citizen - the nation that uses more resources than any other country.
...and, I believe, Nelson Mandela is a South African...[:D]
19. Yeah, well, there are lots of points of view on this - I tend to be with those who, when they learned about HIV AIDS, considered that being celebate or practicing safe sex was probably a sensible idea.  I understand that there are those who prefer to experience outcomes first hand.  They may have very burned fingers but at least they comprehend an important thing about fire - as long as they don't want to burn my fingers too, I say good luck to them![:)]
20. Nick P jested;
Also remember the George Best storey?                 George, drunk, laying in a Hotel bed with Miss World, empty champagne bottles all over the room,  pound notes scattered everywere, in comes the waiter( huge football fan) and says "were did it all go wrong George?"
...and George rolled over and replied; "Some say it was with Adam Smith, although there is new research indicating that the origins of modern economic liberalism can be traced back to Franciscan theologians in the Middle Ages.  Personally, I think we would have been better off as Buddhists...anyone for a new liver....?"
21. I couldn't view the links, I only have dial-up here.[:)]  I imagine, it's something like this;http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sand_mandala  I remember seeing some Tibetan Buddhist monks making one - it took them a long, long, time!  The result, although temporary, was really rather beautiful![:D]
22. If I saw someone in a smart suit, driving a large car and living in a big home, I'd think "Poor soul!  I'm so glad I don't want all that crap!".  It's frightening to imagine exchanging your life for a few worthless gewgaws!  If you spend too much time working on the outside of a thing, the inside can become a pretty neglected, hollow sort of place. Personally, I think the widespread anomie in British society has a lot to do with the growth of depression as an illness there.  But that's just my opinion and I don't live there anymore.
23. Chancer wrote;
The friends that are no more are those that lack the imagination or even tolerance to understand and accept that someone can live a life different to their own, in the main , and of course their are exceptions it is the ones that have always worked hard and have lived in both poverty and luxury (and for many the order is reversed) that treat me the same regardless of my financial situation or social standing.
Interesting you should say that Chancer, it's something that has always puzzled me...why should one give a rat's arse for the "social standing" of oneself - or one's friends?  That's why, when it comes to humans (to paraphrase Mr Twain), on the whole I prefer my cat...[:D]
