  6. Hi We have bought a fitted kitchen from Lapeyre,  had their artisan fit it. The artisan that measured,  arranged the delivery and fitted it was excellent, in fact we will  be contacting the artisan in the New Year to get a devis for having a new front door made and fitted. Highly reccomended, but of course it all depends on the artisan assigned to youfrom Lapeyre

  13. We have promised our sons for many many years about having a dog, but due to our life being overseas it was not practicable, BUT when we returned to UK after endless excuses from my husband and myself and pleas from our boys, we had an excellent reason to go ahead and make enquiries. Our sons had received  excellent awards and distinctions from school for a few years running, and we were settled into our life in the UK so we thought as a surprise we would start the search. Should it be long haired or short? My preference was for long, but the men won and we settled on short hair, big dog little dog, can't be seen walking a little dog they said, please note the word  'walk' so a large dog was added to the list. After what seemed an endless time in searching we settled on a golden Lab, we visited at 5weeks or so and collected him Spring B/H in 2003, the boys were beside hemselves, this little fella cried all the way home in the car, and was all feet, big eyes and wet nose. Put out on our lawn he went inside to pee, well this only happened on a few occaisions, and generally the boys got him so excited in play that little accidents happened, but the boys soon learnt, that clearing up was not that much fun, and played gently inside and roughly outside. He grew and grew, and spoke to us, yes, we knew what was needed and when, his actions and barks told us its time for ..... All in all yes they are a tie, the boys went to boarding school, and he missed them, so a lot more love was needed from us, but when they returned there was no stopping the rugby tackles and fun and the absolute worst of all, sleeping on the bed, going from one to the other and we were the last stop as he knew i was the one to get food ready and open the back door. Winston has proved to be a fantastic part of the family, and we do not regret our choice of breed, they are not naughty at times, and sometimes deaf, and walkies are always on his mind, though the boys only take him occaisinally, but when they do they are for miles and miles. He is now 8 years old, and a little more savvy, we have our home in france and uk, and commute between the two, though getting in the car is a problem, once in he is ok, after he has best  and most place in the car, the boot. Sorry to go on, but a dog is great company, I talk to Winston when out walking, I amsure anyone hearing me natter away and have an occaisional moan would think I am barmy, but when his looks up and those eyes and ears perk up, its magic.
  14. Hello, we are looking for a plumber to fit new bath fittings (free standing) to a antique roll top bath , a new wash hand basin and taps, now normally we would tackle this job but there is a fair amount of soldering needed, as the guy who fitted the bath, basin and taps made a real good bodge of it and has t'd off in the wrong place for getting the water to the basin taps, plus the drain under the bath does not allow the water to empty from the bath. We live near Duras in 47, has anyone had any  experiences with a plumber in the area, your comments/contacts would be very welcome.

  23. Hello, have  been chatting with a neighbour, and was surprised to hear that when you visit your doctor and you are in the waiting room even though you have an appointment, if a young family come in after you, they have take priority in the queue? Also, the doctor or dentist take telephone calls whilst you are having a consultation with them, no matter what the state of undress or in the dentists case drilling you are in. Is this the norm.????
  24. Hi PaulT we have had an underground fuel tank fitted, and I am sure that there are regulations concerning them, BUT in our case we were not at the house when it was fitted, and have had some bl.... awful experiences due to this fact. So beware be present no matter how good the fella is who digs the hole, who places the tank and especially who connects to the chaudierre. So I'll just give you an idea of what we experienced, 1 - the whole was not deep enough and not correcty filled with sand etc... 2- when the tank was connected the pipes were poorly fitted, therefore allowing water into the fuel 3 - Ensure before adding fuel that the tank is clean and dry, and that the top fits correctly 4 - that there is adequate drainage around the edge of the tank to allow rain water to escape, we dug around  the tank fitted afrench drain which went into aother dranage drain, and then peagrain, or whatever the equivalent is in france 5- make sure the delivery driver can get close enough to refill. Now that we have solved the problems of no water or heating and having to have the tank drained and cleaned we are quite happy, it took a lot of guts to get down and wet in freezing weather, but everything is ok, So PaulT, be there and watch like a hawk and then everything will be honkydory
