so happy to say that our meadow is full of wild crocus, snowdrops and niveols - just moved 2 weeks ago. Love it.

Et coucou, me re-voilà ! Nous avons vidé le camion dans la pluie et la neige! Mais depuis - grand beau et chaud. Nous avons vidé les 3/4 des cartons - on commence à se sentir vraiment chez nous. Seul point noir - la paperasse, quelle horreur. Nous faisons des tas de km pour tout organiser - quand on nous demande la poule, on a les oeufs - et vice versa. La voiture est maintenant homologuée en Suisse - ça fait tout drole. La semaine prochaine on va s'occuper des assurance maladies (qui coutent un saladier en Suisse). Le jardin est magnifique - toutes les plantes et bulbes plantés l'automne dernier sont en fleurs- + beaucoup de perce-neiges, niveolles, et crocus dans les prés. L'aventure commence. Il y en avait encore 1m50 il y a une semaine - mais ça a beaucoup fondu - il annoncent de la neige pour demain! On verra. on revient donc pour le déménagement dans l'appart qu'on est en train d'acheter près d'ici (Market Harborough) début mai - ensuite on reviendra pour la naissance de mon/ma petit/e fils/lle en juillet mais on sera dans le Surrey au sud-ouest de Londres.  Et ensuite pas de projets précis. On louera l'appart à des amis/connaissances pour séjours/vacances cette année - et ensuite on le louera surement à plein temps. Che sera, sera. OK I'm off to bed - and up at 6.30 to put Pudding in her big cage and settle Gastby in the car before the removers arrive at 8. Bye les filles. A bientot. xx

Oui - c'est bizarre, et très très sympa - ça fait chaud au coeur. L'autre soir ma fille était chez nous et je tapotais un message. 'who are you writing to?' she said 'oh, I am writing to a friend' - 'who' she replied. "I don't know - a friend in France'. she thought I was mad! Anyway - will sign off for a few weeks in an hour or so. Merci pour vos messages - vous ètes cyber sympa. xx My earthlings Natasha and Robert  (10 and 14) just popped in with their parents to say good bye. It was so lovely of them - I call them earthlings because their are like my Godchildren, but without the God bit.  They will be coming to see us soon. It's great to have such good friends.

Merci Judith - j'espère que tu auras une super semaine avec des voisins de France. Ca fait mal au dos d'etre assise par terre! (+ toutes les plantes que j'ai transportées aujourdh'hui (un magnifique exemple de 'preceeding direct object +agreement! ahaha). Aie, ouie! Je me demande si on va bien dormir ce soir?  xx

Ben voilà - la masion est vide-  comme une caverne. Le camion tout plein est devant la maison - je suis assise par terre au salon. en haut just un matelas par terre et un duvet + 1 serviette a se partager pour la douche. du thé, sucre et lait et 4 weetabix= et de lanourriture pour Pudding et Gatsby. Les pauvres étaient vraiment paniqueés avec tout ce monde et tout qui partait en cartons. On va se lver très tot pour les installer dans la voiture avant que les déménageurs arrivent pour terminer - départ vers 10hoo. Quelle aventure - 39 ans en Angleterre, dont 33 dans la région et 26 dans cette magnifique maison. J'ai dit good bye au jardin - mes grandes plantes dans le camion, notre auto et la remorque. comme nous elles vont bientot commencer leur nouvelle vie en Suisse. Absolument vannée mais super excitée aussi. Pour Hedley, c'est un grand pas puisqu'il quitte son Pays pour venir adopter le mien. Quarante ans de dévouement dans son metier- il se réjouit de sa retraite dans le Jura.  Bisous, Off the air for a while. Hope to meet some of you one day. xoxoxoxo  Odile

My little grandson, nearly 3, slept in his Ireland rugby shirt- he was so excited.

I lost my mum just a month ago. She was a wonderful woman, loving, intelligent, open-minded - a modern woman before her time. She was 93. And I still have my dad who is 96. I am so very fortunate, I know. She hated mother's day and thought it was far too commercial. She just loved it when I brought her big bouquets of wild flowers.

the Manoir aux 4 saisons for lunch  - if they miss French food (and if you can afford it!!!!) such a beautiful area - and Spring in full bloom - can't fail to love it.

Your post arrived as I was typing Sweet- yes would love to meet you and show you my bit of limestone/dales country. But NOT next week OK!

We will be just beyond Pontarlier just over the Swiss border. Yes VERY cold at times, but so dry and bright. love it. You will have to pop in when you are over visiting your daughter. Pontarlier is 10 mins away- Besancon just under 1 hour.

Thanks Sweet - I know you are right. It will be such fun to have 2 Springs this year- taking over a big trailor full of plants- and Pudding the cat will be in a big cage, surrounded by as many house plants I can cram in! I do wonder how she will cope with the journey- especially as we are stopping over in Calais for 1 night! Emptying 2 houses in a few months, + all the stress of sales falling through, my parents, etc-  just seems a bit much at the mo. Will be right at rain soon. x0x0x0x

LOL - you asked if the Compostella way goes via the Jura - and well it doesn't. I am so cream crackered at the moment I can't think to tomorrow am when removals men arrive - next day when we leave, day after when we arrive, and weeks (years) after when unpack. My brain just won't do it. Will the trip involve a religious pilmgrimage? 

Sadly - NO! Another time perhaps.

Never implied you did Twinkle. Never crossed my mind, honestly.  The book is really worth reading though - and made me think. My mother used to love reading - but when she was young, her mother wouldn't let her read. It was seen in those days as a 'waste of time' and 'putting fancy ideas in your head'. She had to hide to read. How the world has changed!

A very interesting read about 'reading and children'   Comme un Roman  by Pennac. He basically tries to explain why 'forcing' children to read in counterproductive. I have 2 grown-up daughters. 1 has always read avidly - and still does. The other never has, and still doesn't!?

Oui, c'est comme les enfants - on peut tous les aimer sans avoir de favorit - et quand on aime un enfant, cela ne veut pas dire qu'on aime moins l'autre! si vous voyez ce que je veux dire. Merveilleuse journée ici de nouveau. On est bientot prets. Ce soir on va manger chez des amis et demain on  mangera tous les restes du congélateur!

There are also many serie of books for teenagers for kids with reading difficulties/ which maybe suitable for foreign children or bilingual children who find it more difficult to read in English.

Just a thought for the future for teenagers. The YHA organises camps with all sorts of activities in Youth hostels all over the UK - a great way to make new friends, learn something new and practise English.

This is certainly no the case for Leicester, where immigrants have brought a huge amount of knowledge and experience- and pay vast amounts of taxes and provide much employment. A great example to all.

je suis allée dire au revoir à une amie dans le Rutland près d'ici. Quelle magifique après-midi - grand soleil et la campagne était absolument magnifique, champs verts, haies en fleurs, ridge and furrow avec des agneaux qui gambolent partout,et la terre fraichement labourée d'un rouge-ocre chaleureux,  et tous ces petits hameaux de pierre ocre avec toits de chaume ou d'ardoise. Quel pays merveilleux. Je trouve si dommage que beaucoup d'anglais ex-patriés oublient ce que leur pays est beau. J'y laisserai un grand bout de mon coeur. Dommage aussi que certains pensent que l'on doit choisie, et préférer un ou l'autre - comme dans un concours. je pense que je peux aimer, meme adorer, l'Angleterre ET la Suisse - et la France, et l'Italie.... et tant d'autres. C'est comme avec nos enfants, on peur en avoir plusieurs et les aimer tous, de façon différente.
