  1. Mme Poivre, he isn't as bad as the antics these Springers are getting upto!!!!!! One of our daughters has a parsons Jack Russell and he's as mad and as daft along the lines and antics of some of these dogs. We picked Louis up from his previous owners as he was described as being too difficult for them, so I was half expecting a loony spaniel, but so far, (finds a nice piece of unchewed wood to touch quickly) he's been fantastic.
  2. Hi I am reasonably outspoken but I need to be in my comfort zone, like a lot of men I suppose. I reckon I'll be fine, its just the thought of having to get out of that comfort zone and learn things anew. Im offskie to France in a couple of weeks I'll probably nip and see one of our local friends who teaches French (actually he's a French man who used to teach English in schools in the UK), I'll get a few lessons off him while I'm over there just to give myself a little confidence. Thanks for all of your replies there have been some useful tips and hints.
  3. Thanks tinabee, for some reason I didn't get an e-mail notification of your reply. I've found a few other sites too and am sitting listening to Michel Thomas for an hour a night to try and improve things. My problem is I'm quite a quiet person especially when I feel uncomfortable, I can sit happily for hours without saying a word if I can get away with it. Like tonight I've been down to our local fete which has a big party in the evening but I've come away because Judiths in France and as I'd gone down there on my own I didn't have any company to stay with. so although I could have a conversation with a few people it becomes awkward after a while. I just don't think I'm a good conversationalist. its like forums I normally hang around a different forum to this but I tend to very rarely actually start threads, I just lurk in the background reading everything then popping up and helping if someone asks a question I can answer. Ah well sorry for the rambling, don't tell Mme Poivre I'm missing her, she may hold it against me in the future.
  4. Just found out I'm to start working in Belgium, with our friendly European representative. My Francais is pretty poor but then again our reps work standards leave a lot to be desired also. So I'm hoping that I can help him improve the standards of his work in Belgium and I can learn far more French than I know now. Anyone know of any good French courses that they've had experience of which may help me?
  5. I think a lot of the relative economy comes from having to travel further to get anywhere in France and when you do get there you tend not to have to queue as much or as often.
  6. normally they are little dimples under one of the wing mirrors, and normally its the left hand one.
  7. Hi when I made my own bed I just used Ash slats on their own rather than laminating them. They still give fantastic springing after 15 years of service, Ash is the best way to go. On our bed I just used ash slats straight across the bed (king Size) and I cut them around 2" by 1" and used around 1 per 10cm but then tuned them by spacing them closer together where needed and further apart where not. If you need more centre support to prevent dipping in the middle then I'd suggest using thinner slats but more of them to provide more individual springing which you can then tune more easily. Hope that helps.
  8. Don't know about the difference in prices between France and UK but Robin (which are Subaru really) are great!
  9. Hi I've always found that when this trouble comes up on forums (as it does on every forum I've ever been on) The best way of course is if you're not happy with the way the moderators moderate thise site, then go and set up your own, then its your own rools and no one else can tell you what to do!
  10. Oh dagnabbits, links work fine in preview then don't once I post them! Eerryone will just have to cut and paste then, sorry. Does this forum not let you link until you've been around for a certain amount of time or posted so many posts or somesuch?
  11. This is the green one Judiths talking about its even worse in real life and the seats look like someones been sick on them the patterns so awful! link edited by a moderator
  12. Hello Frenchie and thank you kindly for your welcome. Don't worry about her getting her wishes, she's very adept at getting exactly what she wants! Hence us now having 2 Twingos in the family! The new black one is very cute and with its full length sunroof will be a great vehicle for me to drive round in the summer whilst she's got my Kia Sedona with her in France, hence I have to be careful with these graphics, so it doesn't embarras me too much whilst I'm driving it! Luckily I have a friend who owns a Graphics, signwriting and window tinting company so it wont be too hard to get something suitable made up. Plus he likes getting paid in beer tokens ;-)
  13. I may not like the idea but its the yellow bumble bees that I actually baulked at, YUK
