can you reach via a ladder? chop off the infected branches and burn the nests PDQ bloomin things Steve

if you rent your property, do the guests do their own pool cleaning and maintenance? Steve
-
In a way, I agree with you - but, IF i was having a hard time of it due to the state of the world (Im not - in fact its improved for us!) I would be a bit cheesed off, as would anyone in this position. Its obvious he is being paid for doing what he is doing, if he is doing this one, how many more is he doing on the black? I take the time to register, get insurance, pay my contributions etc - why cant he? Steve

We look after pools and gardens for a living - one of my customers has given the grass cutting and pool maintenance to a retired Brit who lives in the same village as we do, (as does the 'ex' customer) and it turns out, (in their own words) he cuts the grass and looks after the pool in return for using the pool when the customer isnt there. Is this OK? I dont think MSA will be too happy! Steve

IF you needed the money desperatly, then lick his boots, if not tell him to get lost and turn up at the agreed, signed for, payed deposit for time! Is he going to find somewhere else tomorrow? I doubt it - if you do agree to let him in its got to be + 100€ per person. Steve
-
Well, sod him. Dont do anything other than your plan A. He doesnt answer his mobile then its not your fault. If he turns up tomorrow, then tell him to come back on 26th - if he doesnt like it then find somewhere else (impossible I would have thought?). Bloody grockles! Steve

Our rescue Lab/hound cross Lola suffers from fits - she is now 5 yrs old and without crisax, will have one every couple of weeks - she has 2 pills in the morning and 2 in the evening. We think its bought on by stress/heat/tiredness etc. during the summer she runs all day long, chasing lizards and butterflies etc. During the winter she almost sits ontop of the wood burner! She does get stressed at the reflections (we think teased with a laser pointer when little) and we do our best to stop her doing all the above as best we can - one night it appeared that she swallowed her tounge but I didnt think dogs could do that - she stopped when I shoved my hand down her throat and pulled it up! The Crisax control the 1st stage from what I gather, which stops the 2nd stage comming on. Works for us Steve

that will teach me to read before I post :) Steve

if it hasnt got a sticker saying it conforms, then it wont. Dont forget the self closing and locking gates Steve
-
until bored 'parents' prop open self closing gate with a brick as it means having to put the G&T down to open it (need 2 hands)or get up to let jimmy in for a swim! Steve

the same thing happend to one of our customers in all the rain (end Jan) but his liner sank back down and apart from some tiny creases by the returns you dont know its happend. His cover motor flooded out as well but the installers replaced that and fitted a drain in the motor housing (below ground). Steve

you will have MSA on your tail and possibly be arrested for being a gardener and doing building work! Steve

what fun it would be to sit back and watch someone who has no idea about pools giving advice to someone who is in the 'mire' so to speak! Sometimes, its helpful to have pro's give advice for free - if a sale comes from it all well and good, if not, I dont see anyone complaining about it! Perhaps your opening word said it all, yawn Steve

PM me PM me please! I dont want to miss out on anything..... Steve (D&S one)

ideally, you should run your filtration during the day as thats when the pool is used most and when algae grows! Steve
-
try the sock trick on a bit of it and see what happens - if it clears up then you will have to drop PH and shock - chlore shock should dissipate after bringing PH back up esp over a couple of days if you run filter 24/7 too. If you were a bit closer would come and have a look for you. Steve
-
Algae can be green black, brown and all sorts - where are you located? Steve
-
I think they went back in to get some straps :), and the bbq works well apparently. Steve
-
Sorry, back to the OP - it sound like algae but without seeing it its difficult to say what it is exactly - reduce the PH to 6.8 ish and chlore shock it, then slowly bring the PH back up to 7.2 to 7.4. This should clear it. good luck Steve

But the article refers to a good scrubbing with a stiff brush - now this to me is a scrubbing brush (you know the ones you use on your door step!) - this will totaly ruin the liner. Any scrubbing on a liner will not do it any good - we look after 24 pools and one has had the water line 'scrubbed' with a green spongy kitcheny thing (by the previous owner) - its a disaster. use soft brushes only and like the OP if you have a stain treat it gently. Steve
-
I just read the first paragraph and I quote "scrubbing with a stiff brush may quickly remove a greenish brown colored stain" and also the waterproofing of the liner - Please do not take this advice with a liner - might be OK on tiles, but not a liner! Steve
-
Hiya - yes they did get home safe and sound with no problems - I met them last night for dinner! I have to fwd on the forum details so they can comment themselves, but mentioned something about some geezer from Yorkshire stopping them in the car park and the penny dropped it was this story!!!!!!! Cheers Steve
-
depends what it is but try a sock with some ph minus in it (powder) and put that ontop of th stain and leave it for 5 mins to see if it starts to reduce - it may take a couple of goes or might even need leaving for longer, difficult to say without seeing it. Steve
-
Yes, must be secured to comply. Steve

why not test the level of salt before chucking loads in - could end up like the dead sea! Steve
