  1. We are selling our house in Creuse and are looking for a French removal company, in the area, to empty and store our furniture and belongings for a short time. Does anyone know of a reliable company that come recommended?
  2. The kennels that I used have closed down and I am now looking for another one in the area or any point north. I have two dogs, a German Shorthair Pointer with epilepsy (on daily medication), and a small Spitz, who is a bit bad tempered as she is going blind, but is fine when she gets to know you. The GSP can be a bit of a handful as he is an excitable boy but very loving. Not the best credentials I know but hopefully someone out there can help.

    Epilepsy

Does anyone have any information about canine epilepsy? My 18 month old German Pointer has had two seizures recently, both within three weeks of one another. My vet, after carrying out an examination and blood test prescribed Crisax. This is acceptable to a certain extent, but I would prefer to use a herbal remedy in the long term as I have been told that phenobarbitol, taken over a long time, can cause liver and kidney failure in later life. Does anyone know of any natural remedies available? I have never experienced an epileptic seizure before and I got quite a fright, I thought my dog was dying. Luckily my next door neighbour knew what was happening as her son's dog has epilepsy too. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Marion
  4. I have a 6 month old GSP and would like to take him to agility classes.  Does anyone know of any in the north Creuse area? Marion
  5. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a German Shorthair Pointer puppy of 6 months and would like to know if there are any agility or training classes locally that I can take him to.  He is not going to be used for hunting so I need some sort of way to use up all his excess energy.  I love him to bits but he is a handful.  We had a Weimaraner for 10 years so it's not like we haven't experience of hunting dogs but this one definately takes the biscuit. Hope someone has some info. Tara
  6. To jxedwards I haven't received your private message Marion
  7. My husband works in Qatar and only returns to France 3 times for 2 week periods per year. We have a house in the UK which my mother and daughter live in but I live in France permenantly.  Before moving here we lived in the Middle East for a number of years and benifited from the UK 'expat' tax exempt rules.  Can anyone tell me what our status is here? I think we may have a big problem Marion
  8. Hi Last year someone put a Land Rover Club sticker on our Disco while we were parked at Brico Depot in Montlucon. Unfortunately we lost the piece of paper.  Does anyone out there have a contact telephone number for the club. Regards Marion
  9. Hi Last year someone stuck a Land Rover Club sticker on our Disco while we were parked at Brico Depot in Montlucon.  Unfortunately we lost the piece of paper and I was wondering if anyone out there knows of any contact for the club. Regards Marion
  10. Hi Nick I did agree to the puchase and fitting of a new AC motor but that was all (1200 euros). The switch in question is the one on the dashboard.  We thought at the beginning it was a wiring fault and we had heard that most garages can't be bothered to trace the problem so go all out for a new AC motor, which is what the local garage did.  The owner of the garage has a Disco himself so I thought he knew what he was doing. I was never asked if I wanted to go ahead with any of the other work.  The garage just took it upon themselves and I was a bit gobsmacked when I asked what the bill was there. Unfortunately my husband works in the Middle East so I am trying to sort this out myself.  I get the feeling because I am a woman and on my own they are leading me up the garden path.  My lack of French doesn't help either. Thanks for your input. Marion
  11. Hi I have a 1994 Land Rover Dicovery which appeared to have an electrical fault with the air conditioning switch.  Every time we changed the fuse it kept blowing.  We took it to the local garage where we were told it needed a new AC motor.  This was duly ordered and fitted (cost 1200 euros) and the car was sent to another garage, 45 mins drive away, to an AC specialist garage to have the gas charged. That was 5 weeks ago and I still do not have the car back.  Every time I call them (my french is very limited) I am told it needs another part.  Seemingly when they tried to charge the gas it kept escaping.  I then had to wait until they ordered another part, which took three weeks.  This duly came and I was told I would get the car back on Monday past.  I waited for a phone call to say the car was ready but received no word. Today when I called the garage they told me that there is a fault with the new AC motor and they still have a problem with the gas escaping.  The owner of the local garage seems to be telling me different.  He says there are two problems, the gas escaping and the same electrical problem I had at the beginning. Most of the time he just shrugs his shoulders and smiles.  Honestly, if I had a good command of French he would not be smiling.  At the last count the bill is now over 3000 euros.  All I want is my car back.  I don't care any more if the AC is working or not. Is the garage legally bound to repair the car before they can return it to me or can I demand my car back without being repaired. Does anyone know what are my legal rights are? Sorry if this posting seems a bit garbled but I am fuming!!!!!!!!!
  12. Thanks for the info, much appreciated. Marion
  13. Hi All Is there anyone out there in Creuse who can connect up my new digi box and realign my satellite dish to receive UK telly.  I can not face another winter watching french programmes. Regards Marion
  14. I have sent all correspondence "AR" but that has made no difference.  I received confirmation Wanadoo had got my letters but never any written reply...only demands for money. I have since signed up with Tiscali as I was having quite a few problems with Wanadoo previously...their software!!!!! Well it seems I have no other choice but to keep paying for a service I am not receiving.   Thanks to all who replied. Marion
  15. Last August, 2004, I wrote to Wanadoo to cancel my internet connection as I was moving to the Middle East. I never received any reply but when I returned, March 2005, I was inundated with monthly bills and my internet connection had been disconnected due to non-payment (I had previously paid my monthy account through the bank).  When I telephoned Wanadoo they informed me that they had received my letter but my contract was for a year...the year being up on 9 Jan 2005. I did mention that it was now March and why were they still charging me, but I got a garbled response. I then received a letter from a debt collecting company demanding 92 euros...which I paid.  After numerous attempts to reach them by phone and letter, to no avail I may add, I am still being charged for a service I am no longer using or not even connected to.  Can someone advise me where to go from here?  How much notice do they require??????????????  I am expecting another letter from the debt collecting agency any day now for non-payment of 126 euros.
