1.
I was joking Nick ffs, thats what the 'smilies' are for. .
If you say so?
 2.

All of us like a bargain Bugbear but ......................... tuppence
True of course tuppence, but my only reason for posting was to advise anyone interested of a good company I'd found, not start a "I got mine cheaper from *****.com, one-upmanship battle. There is a law somewhere, I've forgotten the name, that says that no matter how long and hard you search, as soon as you have made a purchase, you will find it somewhere else cheaper. Someone on here will know. Anyway, yours may have been cheaper but my ink is much brighter [:P][:D][:D]
oooooh Touchy. It may have passed you by mate, but this is a forum and the last time I checked it out the word forum means a place of discussion. So you offer a topic and others comment on it, nothing to do with one up man ship. But as you feel so strongly about it maybe next time you post something  everybody should ignore it. [:P] .
 3.
Hi This is going to sound absolutely ridiculous but can someone tell me what happens when you go for a breast test. I've received a letter asking me to make an appointment for the said test valid until March, and apparently it's 'gratuit'. I would be grateful for any info regarding what I may be asked and also what happens. I shall be so embarrassed about it that I'm sure my small knowledge of the french language will dry up and I shall probably go deaf at the same time due to shear panic. I have to say I ignored the first letter that ran out in December making other excuses but I feel I ought to make the appointment and stop being a whimp ! Chris
What ever it is? please go and have the test, it is imperative to get checked, and the earlier the better. All these tests whether for men or women are very important and a little embarrassment is a small price to pay for peace of mind.  In our dealings with the French medical people, we have found them to be very caring and sensitive. We also found that most of them are bilingual.   Good luck
 4. Another good site and very reasonable postage charges to France. www.buysupplies.eu
 5. Absolutely Danny, cheers mate, that's what happens when I type things and it's past my bed time. I will edit my earlier post. [:$]
 6.
I own a house in dept 64 . The house has an existing satellite dish approx 30cm diam which points south eastwards. At present i use a normal aerial to get French terestial channels 1 -4 . I would like to receive main UK terestial channels possibly with CNN or Sky News also. Can i buy any digibox in the uk that willconnect into my modern tv and French satellite to give me these channels . Will i have to move the direction of the satellite dish to receive these channels ? Many thanks for any advice by 6 Feb . Colin
Colin have a look at this site, it's got lots of info. Just buy free view box in the UK. or you can buy a Sky + box on line or Ebay. I bought a dish and a quad LNB with all the brackets and cable on Ebay for about £25. Don't bother to buy a satellite meter, it's not worth the money. Setting up the dish is very simple, the main thing is to move it in very small increments at a time as digital signal takes a time to settle.   http://www.bigdishsat.com/index.php  http://www.satbuyer.co.uk/pace-tds470nb-sky+-sky-plus-digibox-p4.html Edit : As pointed out I meant to say FREESAT not free view, sorry [:$]
 7.
The fuhrers not impressed. CLICK Especially for the Mac knockers [:P] clip contains swearing so don't look if that would offend. .
I thought it was funnier when this clip was used when Tottenham lost the fourth place in the premeir league in the last game of the season. You Tube have now removed  these Fuhrer clips or at least the "English" versions, they still show the Spanish ones, interesting. [:D]
 8. Apologies to all, for my ealier post, my better half tells me it's not ham, but belly of pork. I had better stick to chopping wood and strangling nails. [:$]
 9. Bugbear wrote " Same here when in the UK and I've yet to be flashed." Are you boasting or complaining?  [:D]
 10.
Interesting point about hair colour. I just wish they'd wear vests! I also wish our main representatives (eg England captain) were people to look up to; stick by normal rules and the law, be able to put words together properly when interviewed, and avoid ear rings and tattoos in commonly seen parts of their bodies. Grumpy old woman here! ;o) (icon button still missing!)
I'd forgive them their misdemeanours if only they could play football better than the players from other countries?  [:D]
 11.
Tesco have banned people from shopping in their pyjamas![8-|]
But who wants to shop naked in Tesco? [:D]
 12.
That's interestin, Nick; So is choucroute a french or a german dish?
I suppose it all depends on whether you are German or French, remember the people of Alsace used to speak German, as as at one time it was German territory, I would take a guess that it was originally German. I think I'm right in saying that it is only really popular in Northern France?
 13. While this may well be correct, I have yet to see a "foreign car" in the UK to have Headlight Adaptors fitted or stuck on. Funnily enough I had some sticky tape residue on my headlights and found that in the cold weather it came off really easily. On another track we find that in France our lights with bits of tape (we have an old car so no problem) are less dazzling than normal French headlights ( god knows what the CT checks?). And  these modern lights are a total disaster for every body except the car that has them. Why when they are approaching you do they seem to bounce so much? [8-)]
 14. Many years ago when I was a child, we lived next door to a German family in an apartment block in Montreal. The mother cooked this dish virtually everyday and the smell haunted me for years. Now, well into my adult years, we recently went to a social evening  in the local Marie and it was Choucroute, no choice, so  I accepted it with trepidation and must say when I tasted it, it was fine, the cabbage Ham and sausage combination really worked. Just goes to show that childhood memories are not always to be trusted. I am now looking forward to the next "Choucroute evening".  [B] [B] Edit: Apologies to all, my better half tells me it's not ham, but belly of pork. I had better stick to chopping wood and strangling nails. [:$]
 15.
Question. Does the priority remain for a LEFT turn by the vehicle (assuming the road is clear on the opposite diection!) or only a 'merging' via a right turn? On  narrow (1.25 vehicle width) roads local to us, this could prove an interesting manoeuvre.............. Pouyade
In Vendome we cross the river by bridge and come to a T junction, traffic on our left has to give way to us, we have to give way to traffic on our right, we wait to turn left and as the traffic on our left has to stop for us, traffic from our right turning left, (are you keeping up with this) sweeps round and appears to have the priority( I think). After attempting this manouver a few times I was so stressed, I found another route to get to Leclerc. I do understand it works in small towns, but in the bigger towns with more traffic, it is a nightmare.  [8-)]
 16. "At the same time the region is a desert for International Schools." I don't know Norman, you can't trust these French to get anything right. After all, fancy them only having French schools, how unthoughtful of them.  [Www]
 17.
Ronnie Wood and Bernie Eccelstone! Now what have they got to attract a toygirl that I haven't? Good looks? Stamina? Good conversationalist? Or have they something else? I wonder! To Chancer. - Yes the security of the place when you are away is one of the things that we would find very attractive and one of the reasons why we are considering this option. Thank you, William
As Mrs Merton said to Debbie McGee," what first attracted you to the millionaire Paul Daniels?"  I think that answers your question William, by the way I'm saving up but I don't think there are enough years in life to benefit me   [:(]
 18. "I suppose there is there such a thing as a toygirl? "   Ronnie Wood and Bernie Eccelstone both said " not arf" [Www]
 19. OK Pickles, you said it. But this is what forums are all about, different opinions and discusion. long may it continue. Cheers [B]
 20.

The other issue is that the way that Construction and Use regs are being harmonised in Europe (admittedly very slowly and not immediately - but it is coming) seems to be towards the German model - ie if the device is not approved then it is not allowed. This was from one of the towbar manufacturers.
Having now checked, it appears that from November 2012, new trailers - even light trailers - will be required to have type approval. see http://www.vca.gov.uk/vehicletype/trailers.asp. Regards Pickles
"The legislation will be implemented over coming years and the following linked documentation is intended to provide more information. In the meantime, existing National arrangements will continue to apply." And you can honestly tell me that with hand on heart you read and understood the rest of the  information ? I thought  there was a society for the use of plain English, where is it when it's needed? [:D]
 21.
Wish my body would fight off this mozzie bite infection - course of antibiotics and a sadistic surgeon with a needle don't seem to have solved the problem.........yet.
Bubbles , I had the same problem and regularly got bitten to blazes. A few years ago I was offered a job that meant I had to spend 3 months in Scotland, and I was not looking forward to the dreaded midges so I spoke to a medical consultant of the company employing me for this project, who advised me to take brewers yeast tablets staring two weeks before I got to the location.  Apparently the tablets release a scent through your skin that Mozzies and midges don't like, much to my delight it worked for me. I must add that it apears not to work for everybody, but if you don't try.
 22.
I sometimes travel from the UK to France towing a small car (-750Kilos) behind me on an "A-frame" rigid towing hitch. (That's the one which tows AND steers the car). However, I keep hearing that these towing devices are illegal because all four wheels should be off the ground; ie: all cars must now be towed ONLY on a full trailer. Is this true? Only, I often see camper vans on French roads - towing small cars behind them on an A-frame. Thanks. H.
Have a look at this site http://www.smart-tow.com/towframe.htm
 23.
I think it was Dustin Hoffman (not sure) that was being interview on TV when he was asked Mr Hoffman, you are a great and successful actor, is there anything you could possibly want? Yeah, the bladder of a 20 year old ...fnah....fnah....
And as Ken Dodd said " you should never wear beige trousers over the age of 50"
 24.
Aaaagggggggh! Said it twice now and spelt Wooly wrongly. And, apparently you can't delete after about three seconds!!
There you go bubbles, your not alone,  I thought I'd found a new word, consanguinous ? I didn't know about the 3 second rule either, but  you can edit. I had a mate who's dad said he was the best kisser in the village, maybe he'll stop boasting now?
 25.
Well, she has never been the most photogenic of people, but this one does seem rather worse than  most.  Don't think much of her dress sense either, but perhaps with all that money (as a QC, nothing to do with being the wife of a PM (ex or not) she thought it frivolous to get the best advice available.  Or then, perhaps, did she??
Didn't she have  a style guru? Carole Caplin who's boyfriend  was a convicted conman and the Blair's financial adviser. While I agree that this picture is not very flattering, the best , or worst, I think was obviously the one of her opening the door to collect the papers/milk? attired in her nightwear. The stuff nightmares are made of.
