1. Hello Wooly But where do I stand legally, the field was there before I was, is there any law to cover this?  I'm worrying now about Lymes disease after Christine post too, he has some of those sypmtoms and the docs ask me each time about a rash so they must be thinking that too, he has had antibiotics though so really not sure.  At the hospital agian tommrow, hope that reveals something. Anyone know on the crop spraying front? Panda
2. Hello Frontline simply doesn't work on my dogs or cat any more, immunity has come from using the same active ingredients on crops so the vet says.  I use Advantixs (Avantage for the cat) and it's great, so far no issues at all and I am normally taking the cat for steroid injections by now as she systematically rids herself of fur every year in May and scratches until October.  She is 21 now so finding something that works is very important I don;t think she could stand another summer of skin issues bless her! 3. Hello Does anyone know if there are any laws regarding crop spraying near to a house?  The field behind my house has not been planted until this year and I happened to go out into the garden and noticed the farmer spraying the new crop a few weeks back, my son was in the garden playing (had been most of the morning) and so I called him in, I noticed the farmer stop the spraying whilst I passed him with my son and returned to the house he then continued.  It is probably a coincidence but since that day my son has had various health issues, he is now under a ear nose and throat specialist, he had had a very bad chest infection, followed by a bad ear infection in both ears and now his sinuses are completely blocked, he has also had a few strange memory issues. So I know it probably isn't related but seeing the farmer stop and the fact he was wearing a serious mask made me wonder, where do I stand, the field is no more than 20 metres from the house and the boundary is with my garden?  I am actually really worried about my son and have been to casualty with him twice now as he has virtually passed out, gone dizzy etc.. 4.   Zoot! Someone has left the (ex) possum flap unlocked, if this forum is to return to Dick making ridiculous and frankly sad jibes at spelling and grammer, I'll head for the door before the stampede starts, he has previous for forum death on this front! There is a life out there, go on, go get yourself one!
5. I would tend to agree with Val, these days the diffferences in costs are minimal and sadly the wages are a lot lower.  You would do well to research and find employment before commtting to coming over, I have a totally fluent ex-teacher friend who can't even get a job as a cashier in the local supermarket here in the Charente.
6.
UK house will be sold and the proceeds split - subject to the equity that I will have in the french house
As the market is dreadful at the moment I would be cautious about accepting the equity in the french property in lieu of equity from your UK home  if you do end up trying to sell the french house, prices are dropping fast and house are taking forever to sell in many cases.
7.
Re your location, Panda's question was quite legitimate, but not even she has put her location in her profile! For goodness sake everybody, why not just do it?  Doesn't need to be your village, just the Departement.
Good point Gardian, I got locked out of the forum a couple of months back and quickly set up a new Panda login, my original had detail I obviously missed doing that this time around, I feel suitably chastised, thanks for that [6] and will go and do it now! You are too far from me for my vet to be any good, I'm in the Charente.  I would be inclined to be a little underhand and have a friend take the cat to the vet on the pretence of having found this animal in this state, you can then be the link between the two parties being  able to say that a friend, who called to you house when you weren't in found the cat, thought it had just been injured and took it to the vet.    You could say she has just called you to tell you about it , you never know they may even pay for the treatment if not at least you have been able to do something for the cat who at the moment is suffering to save bad feelings between humans!
8. Where are you? I have a good local vet who is cat mad and speaks english but that's no good if you are the otherside of the country.
9. Yes great photo, there is nothing I wouldn't do to be on that beach in the sea right now instead of depeest France in the piddling rain!
10. Thanks, still don't know where to stick my mutuelle payments, it must be on the main tax return I guess.
11.
Panda You have the choice of submitting a tax declaration either by completing the paper forms or doing it on-line.  .
Pas de m**** Sherlock![:P] I am talking about completing my declaration de revenue which is a declaration for independent workers and also completing my tax return which is  a completley separate document and a completely separate return, both can be done online.  The Declaration Commune de Revenue only alows you to state your income from your main activity and is open now and must be completed by 19th May, this  is only used for claculation of cotisations I believe , the main tax return, form 2042 etc. which for me allows me to specify income from my main job as well income from gites, income from savings and income from long term lets,  this one opens and closes at a later date I believe. So for me two returns, I was simply asking whether the poster who said they;ve just doen theirs had done the dec de revenue or the full tax return, is that so difficult to understand?
12. Ahhh, I thought you were always looking for a lady that was a tramp, sorry my mistake!!!!
13. Hello Following WB's apparent want to resemble a dalmatian, it made me think, I'm definitely  like a cocker spaniel.  Golden curly locks,  shortish legs (sadly), a very waggy tail and an outwardly happy disposition! Come one what dog are you like?
14. Hey, As you well know I'm not due to recieve my pension until 2033!!  The endowment will be a fond memeory by then.....
15. Ha! Sadly, in the human world men only generally get paid to 'engage' with ugly, rich and/or old women.
16. I think lots of people would have kept them, they weren't worth cashing in when I moved here, mine pays out in 2011!
17.

Was that your declaration de revenue though not your actual tax return?
Isn't it the same thing? - you're making me worry now!
Uh, no, you still have to do a tax return!  You will get the other forms through soon enough, 2042 etc.  The other forms include interest on savings other income besides your main income which is declared under the declaration des revenue.
18. Hi Can't help on the cat but the two month rule does apply to dogs, just had mine done after waiting the 2 months. Panda EDIT: I have heard of vets spaying when pregnant so it is doable but it must be very risky due to the increased blood flow etc.
19. Was that your declaration de revenue though not your actual tax return?
20. Hello I don't know the legalities of it but I had to put mine on the road side (rather than on the house) and it's a pain when you forget to check it on your drive in!  This was anew installation though.   I don;t think you have much choice in the matter if you want to get your post!
21. I know a couple back in the UK called Mark and Squidge and at first I thought 'I never knew they had moved to France', then I looked on your weblink and see that it is not the same Mark and Sqidge but what a weiiiird coincindence.  Do all men called Mark seek out a  a soulmate and call them Squidge????
22. Hello I live within 15 metres of my lake which is over 1 hectare in size, I have frogs, thousands of them.  I love the noise they make and so does everyone who ever comes to stay with me.  It feels tropical, exotic, I can't really explain.  I spent one night under canvas on the lake side and I did find that a bit much at 4am but even so I can't say I hated it. There is no solution (I have dogs, cats and lots of snakes they have no affect on the noise for more than a few seconds), you will have to fill it in, which is awful or move back to a city where you will obviously be happier! Panda
23. I've got one nesting in one of the run off drains of the fosse, nice. She is sitting on a pile of eggs, I lifted the lid (it's a small concrete square drain) as the dogs keep trying to look in and there she is, with about  5 tiny little eggs.  We were told the fosse was not running to this drain off point correctly and this proves it as it looks dry in there!  I will now have to wait to rectify.  I will try and get a pic later, don't want ot disturb her too much though.
24. Hi Well I got burnt this weekend working in the garden which was a bit of a shock after all the rain, it has been good here since Wednesday last week.  I'm in the Charente and the weather forecast shows it nice from  Friday 2nd but back to mixed for a few days this week. My neighbour has said this summer will be a wash out like the last one! Panda
25. Having just looked on the site net-entreprises.fr we have until the 19th of May to complete this if being completed online so no mad panic!
