  1. Hi Kimberley I have sent you and e mail cheers Barry
  2. Hi Quantum We had to give Power of Attorney to our project manager to sign (he does happen to be a friend now)--we had to do it as the date was put later and later making it impossible to be in France at the required date due to work committments. we were concerned things could go wrong but nothing did -- we made sure all the money was transferred to the Notaire on time -- the bank was extremely helpful there...as were the staff in the Notaire's office and in the agent immobilier. Hope all goes well for you ---positive thinking brings positive results cheers Barry
  3. Hi Guys I have a britline account and a CA account in the Charente I can only give praise to the staff who have served us .. My Britline account card came via registered post  they sent me a letter to say it was ready for collection I sent them an e mail to say I could not collect and hey presto 4 days later by registered post it was in my grubby hands asking to be used!! I have also sent faxes to Britline for virements and they have called back to ask what type etc and all in excellent English transfers to my CA account in the Charente and to the Notaire went without a hitch.. My CA account is in Villebois and the staff there have bent over backwards to help my partner and I as well as several other English people I cannot fault them--- Although e mail does seem a little difficult to get through to them... On the whole a fabulous service.   Cheers Barry
  4. Yep very true Jon and very useful to have cheers Barry
  5. The SCI was set up as my partner will still be a resident in England for quite a few years yet and it suited our tax needs at present.as well as some inheritance issues. the property we have bought has two french tenants --it was built in 1627 and consists of a shop on the ground floor and two appartments above so the SCi will look after all the rents etc. If we had both been French residents there would have been no real need for the SCI. Cheers Barry

  8. Hi Zeb I am currently registering as a SARL and our cost is tied in with our accountancy charges for which we pay €250 a quarter and that is for everything registering and monthly accounts quarterly returns and end of year returns.. We decided upon a SARL as it gives more credibility to your operation (supposedly and it has its own tax relief-- It is an entity in it's own right therefore suited us for tax reasons). If it was a one off registration It would depend on the person registering it for you for example we also have an SCI and bought our property through the SCI, again as this suits our situation, we had read in a few "how to do " books thatit could cost as much as £2,000.00 and ours actually cost 1,000.00€ through our Notaire.. My advice would be to look for a reputable accountant and listen to the pro's and cons what will suit one person will not suit another.. I hope you manage to sort things out cheers Barry
  9. Hi Fleur I have sent you details in a pm cheers BArry
  10. I was hoping it was going to be from Birmingham, Manchester or East Midlands to Angouleme--- but then again that is me being selfish...... Cheers Barry
  11. Hi Guys I will be moving to the Charente just south of Angouleme and I am looking for a long let (approx two/three years,my partner will join me in a year's time). I have three schnauzers so would therefore need a garden and a little land to keep a few chickens etc (although the chickens are negotiable). The property I have bought has a shop with two appartments above but both are let to French tenants ( I don't want to ask them to leave as they have only just signed their lease with the previous owner and don't want to cause upset in the village either) i will be using the shop for my business therefore I am in need of a house preferably with three or four bedrooms.. I look forward to hearing from you in the near future cheers Barry

  16. HI ANita if New Zealand is a rabies free country and my partner who is a KIwi says it is, then you should have no problem in bringing them straight into France but you probably will have to quaratine them if you took them back to NewZealand. They will need a rabies jab which, after one month, will be tested to see if your German Shepherd and cats have the anti bodies.. Best to check with the French consulate in NZ they will be more than helpful Where in NZ are you (Simes my partner is from Cockle Bay in the North Island) and where are you moving too?? I have always joked with him that the Kiwis are taking over the world!!!!!! Best of luck with everything Barry

  19. HI Ian Version does that not mean similar??? Explaining what the heck--- if someone wants them pitted then great if they want a different appearnce and sllightly different taste texture.. Any fruit based liqueur could be used depending on personal preference/taste.. Always remember dishes move on as time progresses the traditional die hards stay the same and good for them but bravo also to inventive chefs/ cooks who move on and diversify.. Sigh wink wink Barry
  20. Hi guys Clafoutis aux cerises ---- Cherries Baked in Batter there is also a Burgundian version called a tartouillat Sharp unpitted cherries work really well and if you prefer them pitted well what the heck saves on the dental bills.... Kirsch can be used but so can dark rum Happy tasting guys BArry
  21. Hi Guys i TOO get confused with kissing I have friends living near to Paris and they kiss four times the men and the women---left cheek first--- when they meet in the morning and when they go off to bed or if they have spent an evening dining together.. In the Charente my friends there kiss three times again starting with the left cheek.. I do get really confused with my friends grandmother as everyone calls her mamie and I am not sure whether to use mamie or madame-- I would hate to offend the old dear!!Maybe I will have it all sorted by the time I retire (20 years away by the way) Barry
  22. Hi Guys I am currently looking for an unfurnished 3 bedroomed house in good condition with a garden big enough to keep chickens....to rent on a long term basis ---- at least 12 months in the Charente 20 kms south of Angouleme within easy reach of Villebois Lavalette. I have three Schnauzers and one cat.I do have feelers out all over the place (hope I don't get arrested for that.. I will be opening a restaurant and although there are two appartments included in the sale they are let to long term French tenants........ Cheers Barry
