    Bo Obama

I have heard of the Irish Water dog, very similar. Apparently Obama wanted a dog that did not moult as one of his daughters has an allergy so maybe this breed does not shed it's coat too much.   I love Poodles for that reason and have had two many years ago, both rescue and they were such faithful little dogs and one always insisted on sitting across my feet in the evenings.

I have just " googled " this breed. What lovely dogs they are.
  3. The couple I know of are near Melle which could be too far for you but I will PM thier telephone number on the off chance.
  4. I rode a bike to work for many years prior to coming here but I am so uncomfortable riding over here, I just wantt to keep riding on the other side of the road much to OH shouting at me while he is gliding round me and doing wheelies.  I have not ridden my bike for over a year as iI do not feel  comfortable doing it.....help.
  5. I can give you tthe telephone  number of someone in Deux Sevres dept 79 who rescues cats and kittens or conatct Christine Animal on the animal section of this forum  as I know she has some cats that desperately need re homing.
  6. I have difficulty riding my bike sober.   [:)][:)]
  7. If Intermarche points are wiped every year no wonder after three years I only have a few on my card.  I did not realise this and I did not notice it as I rarely check my till receipt to see how much I have accumalated.
  8. We adopted a one year old labrador here in France. We have had him for over two years now and on the day we collected him he walked into our home, had a good sniff around, then decided where he would sit and that was that. All animals respond to love and as  long as they know they have that they will be yours for ever and so loyal. Over the years all our dogs and cats have been rescue animals and we have had little or no problems at all.  So, whatever you decide I am sure your dog will be fine especially as it would be friends who would adopt  and love yourdog.
  9. If you let us know where you are it would help. I have a high chair you could borrow, purchased second hand for visiting Grandchild last year. I would advise also checking other forums, I am not sure if I am allowed to mentioned others here but Angloinfo has a classified section and always have a look in their " bring and buy " section. Very often childrens things are advertised and you can also put a " wanted " advert in as well.  Good luck.

    Sign of Old Age?

Our old Cocker lady was 14 and she eventully could not hold her urine and was wetting everywhere but never once messed anywhere and always managed to get outside. I would think the Bladder sis the first to go when very old as it is used more than the Bowel. So, yes he could be spooked about something so worth trying the methods suggeted .
  12. I feel exhausted just reading this thread.  I truly admire you both and please keep us all updated with your plans.  Unfortunately, I live much too far away to join you  but I sincerely hope some members will join in if only for a day or so at a time.
  13. Knees and elbows from carpets...alledgedly   [:)] [:D]
  14. Oh my gosh. How awful, to take a little dog of that age with ailments that need medication. They obviously did not realise the age of the poor little thing.  Lets hope this has a happy ending.
  15. We found the English shop called Finnegans Rainbow and what lovely people they were. As we had driven for almost two hours ( got lost ) they made us a cuppa while we looked around. Unfortunately, they did not have Bacon Joints but I did buy some bits from them. Thank you for letting me know that I may be able to get them here in the Supermarches you  mentioned so I will be off again next week on my search. Once again, thank you for all your help.
  16. Spelt it wrong again...wrong glasses on.
  17. Thank you so much for that info...great.  [:)]     I have just checked the  map and I have been spelling it wrong but maybe not that important. Correct spelling is Momtmorilon.
  18. Dept number  86 I think and I have tried for ages on Google. Never mind, we will go there and have a look around. The only thing that I would be interested in buying would be Bacon Joints for boiling or roasting, other than that not much else would appeal to us as we can buy most of what we need here in France.
  19. Was your friend lucky with rehoming her little dog as no photos were attched to this thread. If she is still looking for a home, pics would be a good idea and more information on her. Breed, vacinations and microchipped  etc.  I hope she has found a lovely home with no access to cars.
  20. I have heard there is an English shop in Montmorillion (sp ). I have never been to that town so does anyone know where the shop is, if it exists. We thought we would take a drive out this afternoon and may decided to go there for a look around.
  21. Hello I am sure we will look forward to seeing the pix of this little girl. A sure fire way to tug at heartstrings and hopefully there will be someone who can be of some help in this situation as it is not her fault, she does not know it is not a game to chase cars and try to catch thier tyres.
  22. Tony, How awful for you,  No, not everyone would have the ideal loving Mother and it is so sad when some people miss out on that. My Mother died when I was three years old and I have no memories of her but I was raised by a Grandmother who I adored but she passed away when I was sixteen and I was really on my own from there onwards. I raised four children with no Mother to turn to and I envied other women who could talk to their Mums with any problems they had with a gowing family but we survive.
  23. Thank you for that kind thought. Two of my four kids have phoned so far today and I have received cards from all the kids and a Huge parcel from one of my daughter-in-laws containing masses of bits and pieces including a large box of Terrys All Gold chocs, lovely.
