1. Taxe foncière is the one that gets divvied up on a pro rata basis.
2. Thanks Christine.  That was what I thought was most likely. What had me bothered was that one would say.... Je vais le voir. With the "le" positioning in front of voir. Thanks again.
3. I've been doing the Michel Thomas courses and in the Language Builder course there is a particular structure he teaches using "Faire". Here's an example: Voulez-vous me faire voir? Will you let me (make me) see? I generally understand the structure using "Faire" including things like.... Voulex-vous le faire nettoyer? Will you have it cleaned? Now, to my question. In the first example, if I want to say "Will you let me see it? Where should I place the "le"? Voulez-vous me le faire voir? or Voulez-vous me faire le voir? Any thoughts please.  I do realise I could say something similar in a different way, but I'd like to get this particular structure nailed. Many thanks
4. Why would you be worried about provoking anyone rude enough to make derogatory comments? Do you value the opinions of those who might make that sort of comment?
5. You know the trouble with the French, they don't even have a word for entrepreneur.       George W Bush

One I'm sure all the motorcyclists on here will be all too well aware of...... SMIDSY ...........  Sorry mate I didn't see you.
7.

If anyone is interested you can download (for free) the accompanying booklets that come with his language courses. You don't get the CDs for free of course but the booklets are quite useful anyway.
Depends what you mean by downloading. Copying is certainly not authorised.
I mean free download. .... the side panel says...  Free, click here to download your accompanying booklet.   Is there some subtley I'm missing?
They are pdf files and appear to be from a site that sells the courses
Exactly. Don't bother looking at the Introductory Course  as there is no real content.  The others contain the main content and structure of the CDs courses. Oh, btw, you need to page through the first few pages which are just an intro. The language content is a few pages in.

9. Belle.  I'm not sure what advice you want people to give.  If you have frogs they will make noise. If that is unacceptable to you then you have a couple of choices. Move.... a bit drastic I would have thought. Or get rid of them.... as Chris has pointed out that they are protected then anything you do is likely to be illegal, therefore down to you if you go that route. I'm not sure that there any other options.
10. If you are using Firefox as your web browser you may find the Piclens add-on  useful and amusing. It will convert compatible picture galleries into 3-D galleries...  Photobucket, Flickr, Google images are among the supported sites. I installed it last night and I rather like it.  See what you think.
11. Sam Goldwyn....... "A verbal contract isn't worth the paper it's written on."
12. Rose.   Here's mine...
13. I always knew Hitler had no taste... I love my GS! [:P] As you can imagine, this has been extensively posted on the GS related websites.... funny though [:D]
14. I couldnt resist another Churchill quote..... Lady Astor to Winston Churchill: " Winston, if you were my husband, I should flavour your coffee with poison." Churchill's reply: " Madam, if I were your husband, I should drink it." I can't see our Gordon coming out with something like that [:D]

Entre ?

Pads. It's from the verb "entrer" to enter.
16. You might try Googling the tele number. If it is a company you may find out who the fax number belongs to, and also their regular phone number.
17. Thanks a lot Clair. I was unsure about whether there were subtle differences on when you might use one versus the other but thanks for the clarification about the interchangeability and it sounds like I wouldn't be getting it badly wrong regardless of which one I used.
18. I'm trying to work out how I would choose any of the following.... "cependant, pourtant,  toutefois" to express "however". In other words, how would I decide which of them to use for any given circumstance.  I know there are also other words and expressions that can also express the general sentiment but it's the differentiation between these 3 words that interest me. Any thoughts please?
19.
You could always do what most of us here do. If it's a bloke you just call him mate and if it's a bird you call her love. Works every time for me. [6]
Thanks for that Benjamin.... very sound advice, I might just give that a try [;-)][:D]
20. Val.  Many thanks for the confirmation. I never wanted to get off on the wrong foot.
21.
Del boy, the link didn't work first time I tried,? REM ? so good they could put a man on the moon  [8-|]
OK John, I understand.  Seems to be working now? Man on the moon.... great track.
22.
Del boy, sort it out . . . .
Not keen on REM then John?  [:D]
23. I got the new REM album "Accelerate" which came out this week.  Very good, distinctive REM sound.  Good to have them back. It'll be a good album to have in the car as we drive down to the Lot this weekend.
24. On Monday we are meeting with the vendor of our proposed purchase and the geometre to formally define the land boundaries prior to us signing the CdeV. We understand from the agent that the maire will also be in attendance. As we want to get off to a good start with the maire, can you confirm that correct way of initially addressing him (I understand the maire is a man) would be "Monsieur le Maire"?  I'd just like to be sure about this and that this wouldn't be either wrong or too formal? Thanks
25.
