Safety boots

I have never been able to find goretex safety shoes though, that would be nice.   Where I work it has been tipping it down for 8 of the last 10 days and nights.  When it is like that (2 or 3 times a year) I tend to forego safety in favour of keeping dry.  Hence this week I am running around the apron in my Salomon goretex mountain boots!

Yes they are as rigid.  You can't tell the difference.  Same safety spec as steelies.

Meg are you dead set on steel toe caps?  Can I recommend stretching your budget a bit and go for Kevlar toe caps?  They really are so much lighter........[:D]   Downside is 70-100 Eur for a pair......for me though they are worth it because it means I don't have to take them off every time I pass through airport security.
4. Yeah but no but yeah but no but.................
5. No idea.  And no idea! From a different forum I am a member of we had some trouble with this stuff - completely random.  I think once the bot's master program gets into a forum, past any measures meant to stop them, then you might see some of the less desirable porn ad posts and stuff...... The other forum I go to (not France related) had to set up a double log in to stop them - once you enter your log in details you go to another log in request instead of accessing forum.  If you login successfully twice it let's you in.  The bot's attempt a log in once, if it fails they move on. Ric.
6. I reckons that be a 'bot posting........
7. Cafe Felix.....not sure no.  Is it anywhere near the fountain?
8. Try a disc clean up.  start - programmes - accessories - system tools - disc cleanup   If your temporary internet files cache is full up then every time you access a new web page it has to go back and delete the oldest stuff to make room for the page(s) you are opening.  Once you empty it out you should get some speed back.  I'm no computer whizz though........
9. Quick update.......due to sign Acte on 24th [:D] And I'm off from 11-15th May.  See y'all on 13th then.  The bar should be open at 1130 should it not?  [B]
10. http://www.lithofin.de/frames.asp?page=start   I used this in UK it's really very good.  Website is in French too so I'm guessing it's available in France!   We used the colour intensifier on dark slate flooring - very very good!
11. I'm with Clair on this one - Lavazza Gold has the vote.
12. Yes I agree - th faster you move the air the noisier it gets.  However from what I've read if the system is properly installed then the sound insulating ducts do their job well.   I would like to hear from anybody who has it installed though.
13. Have a read.....   http://www.spacepak.com/html/why_whitepaper.htm   Ric.
14. Hi there, We're considering installing one of these systems but can't seem to find any French installer's sites, to get some idea of installation cost. Anybody got any experience with this stuff?  Has it even made it across the pond?   Cheers, Ric.
15. Ah yes. Silly me! My mate is a 747 jockey though - doesn't really bother him.  Not sure I could do it though......
16. Brand name wouldn't make any difference anyways.  They all stink.   Personally I'd rather take the old tiles off with a jack hammer.
17.
It might have been light but the hour change has done me in.  I accidentally changed the clocks last weekend by mistake and so I've had two weekends of disruption.  How do airline pilots manage?
Nevermind the pilots - think of us poor engineers who have to get to the plane at least one hour before the crew to open it up, turn on the electrickery, put the apu on to warm it up for them when it's cold (though to be fair our incentive to do that is more to do with the girls [:)] who are always appreciative!), let the catering people on board.  My 0530 start time was horrendous yesterday [:(]
18. If your sister can get one from Spain then I guess it will work out cheap enough.  Mine is a UK Vodafone 3g broadband modem which is pretty good.  Never had any issues using it for Skype, which I do a lot.   When I'm in the UK I can use it for no extra fee.  Using it abroad incurrs an additiona £10 per 24hrs fee on top of the £25 per month line rental.  I could pay £100 per month to have it and use it worldwide as much as I want but for me casual use is enough.   I expect if you can get the same deal from Spanish mobile network it will work out relatively cheap.  They're very good by the way but you need to be in a 3g area - check that first!
19. On the other hand I have set mine up several times, never needed a sat finder. Go to http://www.ses-astra.com/consumer/en/how-to-receive-astra/installation-assistant/index.php and follow it through to locate yourself on the map.  I take it you are looking for UK sat which is 2B - 28.2 deg E.  Tells you exactly where to point the dish and what angle of polarisation you need on the LNB (how far round it has to be rotated from centre).  Now monitor the signal strength on your box setup page and slowly move the dish in a small 'grid'.  Don't keep moving the dish in one motion - move it, wait a few seconds, check the signal monitor then move again.  Once you get an indication of strength tweak it around in very slight movements to get the best signal quality you can.  Remember quality is more important than strength.   Honestly it's a piece of cake.
20. I've been to Spa also - definately one of the better races.  Stayed on a camp site close to Au rouge.  The entrance by Au Rouge has a good atmosphere in the evening - lots of bars and music.  Everyone just has a laugh together regardless of who you support. I love going to Monza too it has a superb atmosphere and has the added bonus of being 45 minutes from where I work!
21. Hmmmm Not sure if this will help but I had a problem until recently with sending emails from outlook express via orange in UK connecting with a Voda mobile broadband modem.  I could receive mails no problem into Outlook but no way would it send.  Same as you if I connected to a UK wifi network then send and receive no trouble at all. The fix I found was to set the OUTGOING mail server in outlook settings to the local (Vodafone) server instead of the UK (Orange) server. Try in your settings to set your outgoing server to you local french server.  If it doesn't work it's simple to change back - just remember to write down what your outgoing server is now before you do it!
22. Thanks Pads, it will be home, not holiday home.  I'll still be working in Italy until something closer comes up but there's a good link (3 a day) between Milan and Girona with Ryanair.  I do 4 days on and 4 off but that looks to be changing to 5/5 or maybe even 6/6, so I'll get plenty of time at home.  My wife will be there full time.   Most exciting prospect I think will be getting our cat out of storage.  Poor sods been there since August.  Of course I mean cattery....!   Coffee I can do - better be up to Milanese standards though.......LOL
